Another Ex-Bucs Defensive Players Signs With A Contender

March 29th, 2026

The 2026 Patriots roster added two former Buccaneers and now the Eagles have one, as well.

Earlier this month, inside linebacker K.J. Britt became a Patriot, and so did cornerback Kindle Vildor. Both were goats of Bucs past, 2024 and 2025, respectively.

Now, the Eagles have signed edge rusher Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, the Buccaneers’ 2021 first-round draft pick. He spent last season bouncing from the Browns to the Bears, and now he has a new home.

In general, first-round picks almost always get at least second and third chances in the NFL. Varous general managers loved them in the draft process and think they can extract greatness where other could ot.

The Joe typing here talked about re-signing Tryon-Shoyinka recently on the Ira Kaufman Podcast. He’s better than incumbent Bucs edge rushers Chris Braswell and Markees Watts, and Tryon-Shoyinka has so much athleticism, he has a ton of potential on special teams.

Joe will be interested to see if Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio can pull something from JTS; Jim Schwarz with the Browns could not.

JTS Athleticism is what keeping him employed in the NFL
And he’s still only 26 years old, not much older than sone rookies
Team are impressed with his workouts
His length, speed, height, weight, he got the total package

This is his 4th team in less than 15 months
He might surprise us one day, and get it all together

Poor dude might have had a chance if his first NFL defensive coordinator didn’t twist his brain up into quantum knots.

  3. BillyBucco Says:

I think the fact that it’s his 4th team already says about all you need to know about looks like Tarzan plays like Jane.

  4. Hodad Says:

Might be better suited to play ILB? Just didn’t seem to have enough power to battle NFL OTs.

  5. JA Says:

JTS was a tough nut to crack. He’d rush the passer with the best of them, then run right by, seemingly forgetting he was supposed to tackle the quarterback.
You’d think, ‘He’s got him!’, and the next moment he’d be five yards behind the guy. Then you’d wonder what the h—— he was thinking!

  6. Todd Says:

Istinka is camp meat-will be cut by Eagles.

  7. Scotty Mack Says:

Tryon was better than he gets credit for but not good enough to be an NFL starter. Special teams player and emergency backup is about all he’ll ever be.

My question is, when Vic Fangio becomes the fourth coach to not be able to turn him into the stud he was supposed to be, is Joe going to finally admit that it’s not Bowles who can’t develop edge rushers? As I’ve said before, they haven’t drafted any elite ones mostly due to where they pick.

The Great Howie Roseman sees something in JTS,……..Noooooooooooooo it can’t be!!!

JTS- looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane

  10. BigBucJoe Says:

JTS was, is, and always will be a bust.

  11. Beeej Says:

Well, at least he was in the league long enough to get a pension

  12. BigDraws56 Says:

I heard he felt they were one piece away and he’s that piece

    Good luck.

    JA,
Your spot on it brother. JTS is ur typical bonehead player who is apparently a bust. How bout the game against the Bengals when he dropped an easy shovel pass thrown right in his hands by Joe Burrows. I’ve watched JTS during his tenure with the Bucs n he’s clueless, powerless, n outta his league. If he was all that then why is he on his third team within the past year.

  16. Confido75 Says:

Another, “he has a lot of potential” pick. JL really needs to stop with these types of picks. You have to have the character and the brains to go along with the physical talent in this league to be successful.

all i remember is his long arms flailing like a puppet as he tried to go around the edge…only to get pushed right out of plays…and sometimes got literally heaved into a goalpost, or even chucked into the stands 🙂 …the yung puppeteer didn’t get to know opposing quarterbacks too well…

oh well…he def looks the part…

can you imagine if he turned into the next simeon rice for us…?

our line would be set with he and yaya at the present moment…and drafting a dude this year…

damn shame he didn’t work out…we’ve had it tough with drafting edge guys for what seems like forever…

somethings gotta give at some point

People blaming Bowles for this are pants on head stupid. Guys a bust.

  19. BuccaDAWG Says:

If either stands out especially JTS that will point to how poor Bowles & the Bucs are at player development. HIRE A DEFENSIVE CORDINATOR fir gosh sakes.

Joe has consistently went on tangents about TB not having the ability to develop pass rushers. JTS is on his third team in two years. Would someone please tell me what OLB/DE that was drafted in the JL/TB era who was released went and went on to become a star else where? I will wait!
