Jose Ramirez Is Set To Cash In

March 15th, 2024

Second-year linebacker Jose Ramirez.

It looks like Buccaneers practice squad edge rusher Jose Ramirez, a man Joe heard terrorized the Bucs offense on weekdays, seems to have found a lottery ticket.

The 2023 rookie sixth-round pick didn’t make the Tampa Bay roster last season out of training camp and landed on the Bucs’ practice squad. Still, the Bucs include him in their extraordinary 2023 rookie class, a top-3 rookie production group last year.

Practice squad guys don’t earn huge money, so Ramirez is probably enjoying the news he got this week.

Old/new Bucs bone-crushing Super Bowl safety Jordan Whitehead re-signed with the team yesterday and strongly implied on WDAE radio that he will work something out with Ramirez to wear the No. 33 jersey Ramirez was assigned last season.

Whitehead said No. 3 is his favorite number and that’s the jersey number he wore with the Jets the past two seasons. Nobody wears No. 3 on the Bucs, but Whitehead wouldn’t commit to wearing that in Tampa. He only promised, with a laugh, that fans would see the No. 3 on his jersey.

So it seems Ramirez is about to find a five-figure check from Whitehead.

Joe thinks it’s a good idea for Ramirez to change numbers, regardless. Has there ever been a stud pass rusher wearing No. 33?

    Slow news day, huh ?

Did we get the Philly edge rusher yet?

    Pass rusher or 2 please.

Rookie Cody Mauch scored the best number.

    Good for you kid…

Goin with a buncha young ‘hungry’ broke guys on the EDGE… I like it! Seems like these ‘first-rounder’ EDGE dudes are usually 50/50 boom/bust guys at best, & the others who hit the lottery with these enormous ‘multi-year’ $20-$30MIL per year deals aren’t a whole lot different either, when you factor in injury (etc.), after they get PAID.

For the same reason there hasn’t been a 0 before yaya, they weren’t allowed to

Based on your title Joe (‘Jose Ramirez is Set to Cash In’), I thought you were gonna tell us that Todd Bowles was so high on Ramirez that he expected him to start opposite Diaby this season. I mean Jose is a local boy (Polk County) so he’s got that going for him.

    I thought Whitehead chose number 3. 🤔

Josh Sweat restructured with Philly, so Reddick seems to be the odd man out. The bad news, probably, is that they’d rather trade him to an AFC team.

    Makes Sweat more tradable now

Had no idea what number Ramirez wore but he started off his nfl career with a bad decision lol what a horrible number for a linebacker or pass rusher

Is Joe drunk? Is it 3 or 33?

Hey, I have been around this forum enough that I speak “Joe” so let me translate..

What Joe means Joe Bucs fan It’s the verse of time to include a Hispanic Joe, so there’s now going to be a third “Joe” added The Joe Bucs fan team, that is Joe (Jose Ramirez) Joe and Joe’s going to pay him $3 for every inside scoop article he writes and will throw in an additional $0.33 for especially newsworthy articles like this that resonate with the community.

Alternatively, yes it could have been a good amount of bit of a slow news day for “regular Joe” or for “I’m totally panicked that we have not yet signed another edge rusher with 10 sacks even though we don’t have the cap money , Joe”. ; )

Gentle reminder – Jameis wore number 3 while being the ‘QB’ for the Bucs.

How I understand this is Jordan Whitehead and Jose Ramirez were both number 33 on the Bucs. Whitehead being number 3 on the Jets. Whitehead wants to keep the number 3. Plus, the Bucs included Ramirez in their extraordinary 2023 rookie class. The top 3 production group last season. So many 3s!

The number 33 is considered a meaningful number; unity, expression, … The number 3 is considered optimism and curiosity, …

wasn’t ramirez hangin’ by a thread on the practice squad last year…

he might not even make the team this year…

    let’s be realistic…

unless i’m wrong — tell me something i don’t know

  18. adam from ny Says:

not wishing ill will on the young fella in any sort of way…

hopefully he makes the squad and becomes the beastly pass rusher we so dearly need at this point

  21. Dave Pear Says:

Hopefully this dude can come out of nowhere and perform like some touting his draft stock predicted. But on a rush needy team, he wasn’t able to get beyond the scrub squad so he’s probably gonna make more than selling his jersey number to Whitehead than he will doing anything else in the NFL.
