Devin White Says Eagles Are A Better Overall Team Than Bucs

It seems Devin White doesn’t understand the meaning of “scoreboard.” Or perhaps he just doesn’t remember.
Joe’s never quite sure when it comes to the former Bucs savior linebacker.
Mostly from the Buccaneers’ bench, White watched Tampa Bay maul the Eagles 32-9 in the playoffs last season. Philadelphia completed its implosion and then shook up its roster after the season, which included signing White.
The Bucs’ 2020 postseason hero addressed the Eagles media after signing his new one-year contract this week and confidently advised them that he’s on a better team now.
He called it the “perfect situation” for him.
“Now you get the opportunity on a even bigger stage; this is a bigger platform here,” White said. “I think it’s a better all-around team built right here right now to go do great things. I just want to be a part of that.”
White said he’s in love with his fresh start and last year was a mirage of sorts. “That’s never been Devin White, you know, in and out on tape, you know, just dealing with everything I dealt with.”
Joe is so glad the Bucs have a home game against the Eagles during the 2024 regular season.

Precisely. Devin White played less than half of our playoff game against Philly and had 2 assist tackles, 1 QB hurry & 0 PDs (1 target/1 completed). Not exactly earth-shattering for the guy who’s in the middle of our defense. It’ll be feast or famine up in Philadelphia; they’ll either love him (if he plays like he did in 2020) or they’ll run him out of town (if he plays like he did last year).
Lost in all the Devin White horsepuckey is that we still NEED to replace him. Britt isn’t the answer unless he magically gets a LOT faster (opponents will take advantage of his slowness for sure). I’m hoping that we can find a replacement starter with 1 of our 3rd Rnd picks in the draft. ILBs MAY be overlooked until that round.

One would think getting benched and let go by the Super Bowl winning team that drafted you #5 overall – and having to play on a 1 year, prove it $5M deal when you wanted $20M per – would create some semblance of humility… at least temporarily….

I read and heard after we defeated the Eagles all about how the Eagles defense was not really trying and had quit on the coaching staff. Devin White will fit right in with that group.

I’m not sure what Ricki means when they got beat in the playoffs 32-9 and the former league MVP looked beyond cooked most of the year. And lost a lot of players.

Can’t wait to see him overrun a play, loaf, and play out of position. Great tackler if he can ever get his hands on you. Always seems hunting splash plays to boost his own bravado.
