“Absolutely I Think About It.”

March 23rd, 2024

Tampa is home to Mike Evans and his family. So is Galveston and other parts of Texas.

Evans wants another home and it’s been on his mind for more than five years.

That would be Canton, Ohio. And it’s not just so he can get quality breakfast at Pete’s Restaurant. Evans wants residency in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He told TexAgs radio this week that he’s been thinking about his future in the Hall since Jameis Winston was slinging the rock for Tampa Bay.

“Year 5, 6, is when I kind of started to, ‘alright, I need to lock in,’ because the Hall of Fame is something every player, you know, wants to reach in any sport you play,” Evans said. “If you’re at that level, and there’s something attainable, you want to try to get that. So absolutely I think about [reaching the Hall of Fame]. And I focus on it mainly by doing what I do best. That’s working hard and playing my game.”

Evans has such an incredible mindset. The guy doesn’t seem to realize that he already is a lock for the Hall of Fame.

Now Evans is no lock at all to be a first ballot enshrinee, but he’ll be in the Hall. Evans has more touchdown catches than most Hall of Fame wide receivers (Gronk, too) and he has that unprecedented streak of 10 seasons of 1,000 or more yards to start a career. And he has a Super Bowl ring.

With only six more touchdowns by Evans, only six receivers in NFL history will have more.

Keep grinding, Mike!

M1K3 is elite! Glad to have him!
    Go Bucs!!!

Again we should all be grateful for the quality pair of receivers the Bucs have enjoyed, led of course by ME13 but CG14 is also very talented.

What’s as enjoyable as their stats for me is that both of the guys are such class acts! They play a position that probably features the greatest number of conceited arseholes in the league yet they remain humble and focused!

I just find it easier to root for guys who are great off the field as well as on it.

A lock for the HOF……first Buc offensive player in the hall….

    TBBF’s prediction for the second……..Tristan Wirfs….

Definitely locked in! Mike Evans has it all going for him, on and off the field.

    LFG

  6. Mike C Says:

Tbbf, Brady will be the first Offensive Buccaneer in the hall

  7. itzok Says:

Whats crazy is his stats are only half of Jerry Rice’s. Could Mike produce for another 10 years. Doubtful. 3 more would be realistic. Rice’s stats look untouchable

  8. Pryda…sec147 Says:

What would he need to be a 1st ballot HOF? Win another ring notch another AP?

If you’re going by ‘retired as a Buc’, Gronk has a one year head start.

  10. Steve in Mad Beach Says:

Actually Gronk will be the 1st offensive Bucs player in the HOF, followed by Tom and Mike

At a guess, I’d say Mike has at least 5 or more years left. Had he been playing with top notch QB’s and coaches his entire career like Rice, his numbers would be a lot closer.
It may be a bit of a stretch, but those numbers could be within reach. Not a safe bet.
But top three all time isn’t out of the question.

  12. SlyPirate Says:

    BIG YEAR FOR MIKE
    Yards: 1,300 TD: +10

    #1 Consecutive 1K Seasons (Tied with Rice – 11)
    #2 Most 1K Seasons (#1 Rice – 14)
#9 Receive TD (Top 5 in 2 years)
#19 Receive Yards (Top 10 in 2 years)

(BTW: Bigger year HOF Resume-wise for LVD)

  13. 1#bucsfan Says:

1st pick ever for Jason and it’s going to be a HOF.

    ……..

Gronk and Brady are not going in the HOF as Bucs, they will go in as Patriots.

  15. Usfbucs Says:

I think ME winds up being #3 all time unless he has the longevity of Jerry Rice.

  16. UKBuccaneer Says:

Players don’t go in the hall as ‘a buc’ or ‘a patriot’ unless they’ve spent their whole career in that organisation. This is basic stuff.

  17. Vaughnbuc Says:

It’s realistic Mike Evans will be in the top 20 all time in receiving yards after this year, top 10 next year. Plus the touchdowns Joe mentioned.
Mike Evans will be fired for a gold jacket.

Mike Evans will be fitted for a gold jacket.

  19. Cometowin2 Says:

Been calling for Mike to be in the HOF since year 3. Only debate now is first ballot or not. Probably depends on how many more years he plays. First ballot even now in my heart. This old man will be in Canton for that. And for LVD’s also.

Bucs fan since 1977. Day of first win.

  20. JimBobBuc Says:

ME and LVD need to be in the HOF. LFG Ira!!!!

  21. Dave Pear Says:

Boss, how many players who make the hall of fame actually suck?

Have you ever even watched a football game or do you confuse a Tijuana donkey show with the NFL?

  22. Dave Pear Says:

Come2win – I was in the old sombrero with my dad and grandpa for Bucs second win, first ever home win. Against the Cardinals. That was a Bucs defense that gave a clinic on the 3-4.

  23. Cometowin2 Says:

Nice. I watched the first game that they won on TV. Went to the old sombrero first in 78 and was there for the KC division clinching and Eagle’s playoff win in 1979.

Wore a $3 trash bag during the torrential rain storm when we won the division.

Actually Brady will be the first.

  25. ATLBUC Says:

Forgot about Gronk. Then Brady. Being instructed in the Hall of Fame is not like retirement when a player retires from a specific team. Either your in or you’re not.
