Dangerous enough?
Now Joe isn’t ready to go crazy like this guy Joe trusts who isn’t thinking the Bucs will be a patsy one-and-done playoff team. (more…)

Baker Mayfield and Todd Bowles share a moment last week in Atlanta.
A big reason why Baker Mayfield is in Tampa is his relationship with Todd Bowles, one that was first fostered when Mayfield was entering the 2018 NFL Draft. (more…)

Is Joe impressed with Rachaad White as a runner? Eh, maybe. Is Joe impressed with White as a receiver? Absolutely. So much so that Joe is wondering if White ought to be in the Pro Bowl next month at Orlando? (more…)

Perfect.
The one cool thing about seeing a game in Green Bay is how the locals and the Packers franchise embrace both the history of the NFL and, of course, the Packers. (more…)
Mike Evans dishes on offensive explosion.
After the game, Joe got a chance to talk with future Hall of Famer Mike Evans about the best Bucs’ offensive game since a Santa Claus-looking guy with a foul vocabulary, a taste for Canadian whiskey and a bold offensive mind ran the team. (more…)

The Todd Bowles haters have been silenced — for now.
In replacing Byron Leftwich as the poster child for Tampa Bay’s struggles, Bowles has taken a lot of heat this season from disgruntled fans. But even the most fervent Bowles skeptics have to acknowledge the Bucs are playing winning football in December.
Sunday’s 34-20 triumph at Lambeau Field was a complete victory led by Baker Mayfield, Chris Godwin and a defense that made just enough plays to even the Bucs at 7-7, keeping them in control of their own playoff destiny.
It wasn’t like the Packers didn’t need the game, either. Green Bay’s postseason chances took a massive hit because the Bucs made big plays, winning plays, when it counted.
Every time Green Bay appeared to grab momentum, Mayfield answered with a long scoring drive that sapped the life out of Packer Nation. Tampa Bay overcame a costly early turnover and played mistake-free football for most of the final three quarters.
A third consecutive NFC South crown is within their grasp and the Bucs also have a legitimate shot at an NFC wild-card spot. The NFL standings suggest a 9-8 finish would be good enough for Tampa Bay to advance to the postseason.
And guess what? That scenario would also keep Bowles at One Buc Place for at least one more year. (more…)
Mike Leach and Todd Bowles.
In Joe’s mind, one of the laziest if not empty-headed football axioms is, “We want a balanced attack.” (more…)

“Here’s how it works, Mr. Glazer.”
Whatever is going on as it relates to Devin White being a healthy scratch today in the biggest game of the season, Joe is confidence the Bucs won’t release White. (more…)
Healthy scratch?
The Bucs published their inactive list for today’s game against the Packers and inside linebacker Devin White will miss his third straight game with a bum foot.
He last played at Indianapolis Nov. 26, after which White explained how hard it is for him to be ready for a game. He talked about “treatment around the clock.”
However, Stacy Dales of NFL Network reports Devin White is inactive today not due to any injury.
A healthy scratch for the former No. 5 overall pick? Joe will let your mind wander about this but remember what JoeBucsFan.com columnist Ira Kaufman said with confidence on his podcast two weeks ago — that White has played his last snap for the Bucs.
Others inactive are safety Ryan Neal, corners Carlton Davis and Josh Hayes, tackle Brandon Walton and defensive lineman Will Gholston.
