Day 2 Of Buccaneers’ OTA Practices

May 24th, 2023

An official Tampa Bay Buccaneers photo. Offensive coordiantor Dave Canales coaching up QB Kyle Trask.

Our beloved Tampa Bay Buccaneers were back on the field today for the second of their nine voluntary spring practices (OTAs).

That’s the good news. The bad news is today was one of the media lockout days, so there were no non-Bucs media eyeballs on practice.

The Buccaneers did share an array of photos, and Joe was glad to see veterans Carlton Davis and Antoine Winfield, Jr. on the field, and newcomer safety Ryan Neal. Jamel Dean wasn’t seen and Joe is certain Dean skipped yesterday’s Day 1 of OTAs.

Again, it’s voluntary and Dean is not the only veteran missing practice. Mike Evans, for example, hasn’t been there while Chris Godwin was seen again today after saying how much he loved Day 1 under new offensive coordinator Dave Canales.

Yesterday’s practice felt like a training camp session, Godwin added, even though spring ball is only shorts and shirts without pads or hitting (aka flag football).

The Bucs are back on the practice field tomorrow, but no media is allowed. And fans wonder why Joe takes most OTA performance critiques and laughs.

If media can only see one-third of OTA practices, then it’s impossible to critique how a player performed through the spring, unless you want to be a blubbering know-it-all. It’s like saying a cornerback had a great game but you didn’t see the second or third quarters.

Regardless, Joe is not bitter at all. With every practice, the Bucs are that much closer to real football. Glorious real football.

  3. Dooley Says:

Greg Gaines is a massive human being, saw a photo of him standing next to Deadrin Senat and he made Senat look “small” which he is not

  4. Beej Says:

Would the team be furious if you hovered a drone near the practice field?

  5. NCBucfan Says:

Coach up Zyon Carlton, I see you! He will be our weak link in the backfield this year, just hoping he takes a step up this year. He was awful in that Ravens game last year.

  6. CrackWise Says:

Beej not sure about the team but TIA would send the hounds after you for sure. Flying a drone in restricted airspace is a for sure prison sentence no questions asked!

  7. Rod Munch Says:

    Calling it now…

Bucs go 17-0, win the SB.

    Mayfield = League MVP
Ronnie Brown = Offensive rookie of the year
Kancey = Defensive rookie of the year
Shaq = comeback player of the year
Bowles = coach of the year
Kurt Warner’s son = bag boy of the year!

    It’s GOING TO BE INSANE!

I LOVE THE CLOSED PRACTICES..THE LESS OUR ENEMIES ( BOTH THE PRESS & THE COMPETITION ) KNOW ABOUT US THE BETTER !…WE NEED TO KEEP EVERYTHING POSSIBLE BETWEEN” THE ORGANIZATION ” NO ONE GIVES US A SNOWBALLS CHANCE IN HELL OF COMPETING FOR THE DIVISION TITLE & BEYOND..THEREFORE, WE SHOULD INTENTIONALLY KEEP AS MUCH OF OUR BUSINESS TO OURSELVES ( TO TRY TO MAINTAIN AS MUCH OF THE ELEMENT OF SURPRISE AS WE POSSIBLY CAN UNTIL THE PRE-SEASON GAMES START & WERE FORCED TO SHOW MORE ABOUT OURSELVES & HOW WE OPERATE )…GO BUC’S ! ! !

Tommy the caps lock shyte has to go if you expect peeps like me to even want to read it….Unless you’re special needs it’s got to go.

  14. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I won’t judge Tommy for the caps. It really isn’t hurting anything.

  15. Pewter Power Says:

Yes the Bucs can get as much from this as they need. How do you think veterans get cut before training camp. Kwon Alexander win the starting job before training camp they just wanted to confirm it in preseason. Media clowns Kenny bell because they want us to forget they were jerking hill off about his speed around this time too. When he was exposed then they started clowning him.
