Bucs Will Be Among Top NFC Teams In Travel Miles

May 11th, 2023

Bucs coach Todd Bowles.

The Bucs will sort of be road warriors this fall. Just another hurdle to overcome to try to win the NFC South.

Per the research of handicapper Bill Speros, a handicapper, adding up all the 2023 season travel miles of each NFL team shows the Bucs will be racking up a lot — ninth-most this fall at 23,764 miles. Only Seattle, San Francisco, Miami, both Los Angeles teams, Baltimore, Arizona and Kansas City will have more.

All of the teams with the exception of the Cardinals and the Chiefs are coastal communities, which automatically puts them at a disadvantage when it comes to travel outside their divisions.

The number of miles the Chiefs will travel is a bit surprising because Kansas City is right smack in the middle of the country. But all of their division opponents are in the Pacific time zone. And, of course, the Chiefs play a game in Frankfurt, Germany.

In total on their road trips, the Bucs will travel through 26 time zones. This ranks is in the top-10 number of time zones for NFL road teams.

This would be in issue if they were flying coach on Spirit Airlines. Has the Bucs’s travel budget been slashed too?
