Kyle Rudolph Thinks Tom Brady Will Play In 2023

January 27th, 2023

Talks Tom Brady.

Slowly but surely, Tom Brady’s future is becoming clearer.

Earlier this week, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network claimed in interviews to fill the vacant offensive coordinator position, Bucs coach Todd Bowles is asking candidates how they would construct an offense with Brady as the starting quarterback.

Then in a video feature by ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, he said several times during this season Brady stated he wanted to be part of the solution to get the Bucs back on the winning track.

Now, a Bucs tight end threw a piece of kindling on the fire of how Brady may be leaning. Kyle Rudolph appeared on “Good Morning Football,” seen weekday mornings on NFL Network, and said his view of working with Brady suggests he will play next season. Somewhere.

“I’d have to say he keeps playing,” Rudolph said. “Just being around [Brady] every day seeing him out at practice. Physically, there is no one who does it as well as he does. It’s incredible.”

Joe is just spitballing here, but perhaps the Bucs told Brady that with a new offensive coordinator and maybe a free agent addition to the offensive line, the Bucs will run the ball, which should lessen Brady’s exposure to hits.

And with likely a lesser defense due to so many free agents, maybe playing keep away is a smart way to go. Keep the defense off the field and prevent Brady from getting beaten up each week.

Seeing tom back makes me happy. Today Bowles not so much

    @Bucschamp

At what point during this vid does Kyle suggest he stays with the Bucs? And after this past season and especially after that playoff game (yo he was missing WIDE OPEN TARGETS AND WAS HARLY PRESSURED, check the tape) how can you possible be happy with this man returning. The dude is washed. Thanks for the SB win, forever grateful but I mean come on. Stop making excuses for this guy. If you were as angry with Bryon about his failure this year (as I was), then Tom deserves the same. And it wasn’t the first time he played POORLY last year.

  3. Beej Says:

I don’t remember him missing “wide open targets” against the Pokes. (Not that it never happens) That’s literally been a cliche used by his many detractors. If we GET Caleb? 60% of first round picks are busts, Jets and Bills could verify that

  4. Darin Says:

Can’t believe people pin their hopes on college qbs who aren’t even eligible to play yet. Collapse for noone. Especially some college kid who might not ever see the NFL. I’ll take the one who has won the most over the one who’s never done it for 1000 please Alex

  5. Hodad Says:

Anyone who doesn’t admit that Tom’s play slipped this year isn’t being honest. It won’t improve with age. Even if Tom comes back next year, the question of when will he be done lingers in the air like a ripe fart in an elevator. I’m tired of smelling it, and I want off on the next floor.

  6. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I am starting to believe Brady will be be back with Tampa, because what other team is gonna pay him what we will ?
He did not have his best season last year, so that drops his value.
I will be surprised if Kyle Rudolph is re signed. He is very very slow.

  7. Common sense is not common Says:

Uh Chris, The Bucs owe Brady 35m if he retires or plays elsewhere.
Brady only counts against the salary cap, but he’s not owed any more hard cash. –Joe

  8. darengibo Says:

So all the ones stating Brady is washed up, can’t hit open receivers, too slow, too old, yada yada… are also the ones saying we should collapse for caleb.

WELLLL… if both of those are true, why wouldn’t you want Brady back to fulfill this “collapse” for you?

ME? If the GOAT feels he has one more in the tank and he is right mentally (divorce really drained him), then I say let’s roll and win another ring! Hardly anyone thought 2020 was our year when we sat at 7-5, but yet….. SO WHY NOT???

  9. Common sense is not common Says:

    Joe ✔️

  10. AB Says:

The Darlington video says at various points during the seasons (not at the end) that people thought Brady was inclined to be part of the solution…

Before things ended in a humiliating dumpster fire and there was a season’s worth of evidence that nobody could adapt to overcome anything.

  11. Joe Says:

Can’t believe people pin their hopes on college qbs who aren’t even eligible to play yet.

Shoot, Joe had someone on Twitter suggest the Bucs need to start stockpiling picks to draft Arch Manning.

Mind you, the kid has yet to take a snap in college.

  12. Jeff’s grandpa Says:

Typical for here joe some live in a fantasy world

  13. Show Me the TDs Says:

I think Brady will be better next year. He can gain some weight and recovery physically and mentally from his divorce. I agree that we need some help on the O-line. We also need to get rid of some of the dead weight and get faster and harder. Giovanni, Rudolph, White, Fournette all need to go.

  14. Goatfarmer Says:

That’s a nice take Kyle. Now go out to your barn and start bailing hay. You’re done with football. You sucked in 2022, you were stealing money from the team. OJ Howard on one leg was better than you. Shameful. Have a nice retirement.

  15. NEfan Says:

Yet all you so called fans value opinions of has been like Barber, Sims, Heckels, Brooks, Sapp, Keyshawn, King but not a current player who actually played with the man. Wow, never experienced so many fair weather fans. Sad group of misfits.

  16. unbelievable Says:

Yes, Tom’s play slipped a little this year.

But he’s still better than probably 24 – 26 other starting QBs in the league.

I could take my chances on that for 1 more year, especially with an offseason that doesn’t have the drama this past one did, Brady back to his normal weight, not missing camp, etc.

  17. Chop block Says:

A lot of people coming out there neck about the GOAT. You should bow & be dam greatful for the GOAT making a move to Tampa & wins the Lombardi trophy, the division, making Tampa Bay relevant again after how long? He threw for the 3rd most yards in the league, top ten in TD’S, and think about how many got dropped or called back. With a run game, an O line, & a good OC, Brady’s still a beast. He out played A Rodgers this year and I know a few of you got kneepads autographed by him, admit it. Tampa should be so lucky to have Brady back next year. The Devil you know…….

  18. WvBuc Says:

Chris Godwin, Mike Evans and Russell Gage are three major reasons Brady should be considering remaining in Tampa. Certainly the Raiders offer an intriguing set of weapons but they don’t have significantly better tools than the Bucs. Tom seems to care a lot about his legacy and I think more than anything else he’s at odds with his own doubts about his ability to play at a high level. I’m in favor of Tom returning to the Bucs. I would very much like to see the greatest mentally capable QB of all time playing with multiple chips on his shoulders. He can shut those up with a good to great season with the Raiders but it would not be the slam dunk he would get by doing the same thing in Tampa.

The Bucs are not the Patriots, they haven’t attempted to move on or to replace Tom. They haven’t attempted to trade away his targets, yet, and they’ve been aggressive most of the time in grabbing help when help seemed needed. The one faltering miss I believe that Brady wanted was OBJ in 2021. Tom doesn’t have the same reasons to leave Tampa that existed in New England. As I said, I hope he returns hungry, maybe angry, and goes out on his terms at whatever age that might be having played for just two organizations.

  19. Wild Bill Says:

Haha, if wishes were fishes the next season would be a fry. But reality makes it likely the Bucs will smell like a red tide event until they rebuild and reload which may take several seasons or more. Funny that both the Rams and Bucs both stunk this year. It was the teams with the young guns with fast feet and strong arms that dominated.

  20. steele Says:

Why is Kyle Rudolph still on this team?

  21. Joe Says:

Why is Kyle Rudolph still on this team?

Don’t worry. Joe’s willing to wager he won’t take another snap with the team.

  22. Bucschamp Says:

Brady deserve another chance. Divorce clearly messed up his mind. It’s not easy. Now that it’s over he got nothing to lose and he’s all football. Caleb who?
