The Hard Work Paid Off

February 11th, 2022

Rare feature.

Including today, the Bucs have less than three days to wear the tiara of “defending Super Bowl champs.”

On Sunday, the NFL will have a new champion. The Bucs’ reign will be in the history books.

Now the following is a very, very rare piece of Bucs history. In this special NFL Films feature, the focus is on Bucs linebacker Lavonte David.

David is kind of a shy guy. He doesn’t like to open up. He stays away from media not because he hates the media types. Far from it. David is just not a peacock. David would much rather stay in the shadows and kick arse on the field. Joe thinks David would be perfectly happy if he never had to step in front of a camera or a microphone again.

So in this NFL Films piece, David opens up about how awful all the years of losing was prior to last season. And how when the Bucs won the Super Bowl, a special someone was at his side.

Joe has never seen nor heard David open up like this. It was almost like watching a different person being interviewed. Joe thinks you will enjoy this piece and get an appreciation of all that David went through.

David even confessed with all the losing seasons the Bucs had, some players would have just given up. Thank goodness he never did.

    A magical season indeed.

Absolute STUD. Great dude. Great teammate. Can’t believe we have a guy like him right after Brooks. LVD was compared to 55 from day one and has never let us down, to the point where he’ll be in that ring of honor soon himself. Too bad LVD had to suffer along side the likes of McCoy and Hargreaves and the great Sabby. Luckily the team’s success has brought some much needed love Lavonte’s way. If he can take advantage of these next few years with Vea and Winfield and White he can get that gold jacket, too.

Damn shame Brady won’t be here next year to try again with David.

So happy for him and Mike Evans and Will Gholston though. Those dudes have been here through some dark, dark times!

  6. unbelievable Says:

I’m afraid that without another championship, Lavonte will be suffering the same fate we’re seeing with Barber when it comes to that elusive gold jacket… His stats are as good or better than his contemporaries, yet he still doesn’t get the recognition he deserves! #ItsABucsLife

  7. Bucs Guy Says:

I was so happy for LVD and Mike Evans when the Bucs won the Super Bowl last year.
They truly deserved it after all of the losing seasons.

  8. CondorFoxKV19 Says:

The magical Super Bowl run(s) can never be taken from us. It’s been a long, hard road since 1976, but 2 Lombardi trophies are nothing to sneeze at.

  15. Razor Ramone Says:

    That’s great stuff.

Got to watch Derrick brooks whole career which was a blessing. Brooks had a great n I mean great defense around him. Always was my favorite player. Now put in LVD and the stud has just shined on the worst defense in NFL history and he still shines. This guy right here is a hall of famer like BROOKs. Ira when it’s time please help get this guy in

Years ago, my friend tfree….some of y’all remember tfree from the old Bucs board…said prior to the draft that the Bucs should take Lavonte David because the guy would become one of the greatest Buc LBs ever, great tackler, incredible speed, a monster in the blitz.

Some scoffed at free. Most never really heard of Lavonte David.

But looks like tfree was spot-on…

It has been a privilege to have watched every game Lavonte David and Mr. Derrick Brooks played in the NFL, a witness to linebacking excellence. LD will have his name in the RayJay ring sooner than later.

  19. rrsrq Says:

Easy to like a Buc like this. Easy to become a favorite Buc of all time. He will wear that Gold Jacket one day and as great as Bucs defense has been – he is all -time Bucs defense

  20. Eric b Says:

Damn shame, we had LA beat. And that being the toughest team we would have won it all. Its a damn shame brady and Co. And our D coming back from a 24 point defecit unanswered!!! Just to have stupid coaching calls blow it in the final seconds. We had a repeat and im still pissed

  21. Bucs96NYC Says:
