Part of the reason Barber didn’t get in, was who he played with. John Lynch, Sapp and Brooks were incredible. It’s not his fault, it’s just a fact. The defense he played in also hurts him. He was never asked to take away a teams best WR. He was a very good DB, probably not a hall of famer.
On the other hand, the only defensive hall of famer law played with in NE, was Richard Seymour. Law was consistently asked to defend the best WR on the field. He would’ve been the same player on most teams. Don’t forget, those early Patriots Superbowls were won primary on defense. Brady wasn’t the Brady we know today.

BenGay saying Ronde not a HOFer is as stupid as most of his other stupid stuff. That’s a well accepted narrative from ignorant idiots who believe that the only defense to gauge HOF is man to man. Anyone who actually knows football and doesn’t just copy worn out clever sounding but stupid narratives knows that Ronde invented and defined the highest standard for what a slot cornerback is. Sitting in zone is much different than bump and run. Plenty of very nice corners can sit in zone. It takes special talent to take away the other teams best. Or at least wipe the second option, so the others can be doubled. Not saying barber wasn’t a good to very good corner. He never struck fear in opposing QBs. Ben’s Hall of fame is few and far in between..

I never understand why Mike Alstott is not in consideration. Name a player as unique, important and consistent as the A train. They ought to have a separate category for power back/fullback. M.A. was an absolute force of nature and a stud feared by the league for a decade!!
