Tom Brady On The Cusp Of History (Again)

December 27th, 2021

Some 420 yards away.

Records? As Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians once said of Tom Brady and his records and NFL quarterback milestones, “When he’s done there won’t be any more records.”

There are still Bucs franchise records to chase, provided Brady is even motivated to do so.

Take passing yards in a season. Brady currently sits with 4,580 yards. He only needs 420 in two games to reach 5,000 for the season. He’s only done that once before, in 2011 when he threw for 5,235 yards. If Brady throws for 5,000 yards, he will be the second Bucs quarterback to do so.

No team in the NFL has had two different quarterbacks throw for 5,000 yards in a season.

The other Bucs quarterback? YouKnowWho!

Brady did a super job really, particularly with using all of his 2nd teamers to get their jobs done, even coaching some up along the way. It’s great the D played lights out again. Yeah, against a struggling offense but you can only beat who you play and that was solid play, even without JPP and David. Even the backup punter did his job, and ST in general played well. We need to see a solid performance in NY this coming week from all, and hopefully will come away feeling playoff ready. The injuries will sort themselves out.

As for 5,000 yards…just win. But Brady’s yards actually mean something, unlike whatever his name was.

  2. bucschamp Says:

was there anybody who won back to back super bowls with 2 different teams ? that could be an epic history

  3. Cobraboy Says:

At least Brady’s yards aren’t in garbage time.

  4. Bucsfanman Says:

Wins not statistics, that’s the difference.

There seriously aren’t going to be many, if at all, records left to break for this guy. And good luck ever trying to those behind him!

  5. LVMYBUCS Says:

I wonder how he (TB) would be as a head coach? That play with Johnson was something I have never seen before “STOP, OK GO”. You can see the players that are hungry and those who are just putting in 100 percent. I still cant stand Leftwitch his play book is so small and predictable.

  6. ClodHopper Says:

I’d rather him pass you know who. The race to 5110!

  7. stpetebucsfan Says:

OJ and Tyler Johnson didn’t help Brady a bit!!! They both get the p*ssy awards for the week.

Same kind of play. Johnson is supposed to clear out an area for AB but instead he lets the DB manhandle him so thoroughly that he’s shoved back into AB missing the pass…an incompletion for Brady..a non catch for AB…ALL because Johnson didn’t take care of a DB.

Later in the game….SAME situation. OJ is supposed to clear out for either Gronk or Brate but he let’s his SMALLER man shove him back into the play again disrupting the route and forcing another incompletion.

So Brady has two incompletions that have nothing to do with him or his target…just two p*ssy receivers who can’t deal moving a DB.

What is this nonsense in my news feed elsewhere about Brady not wearing the Captain’s C patch yesterday? Any insight?

  9. Casual Observer Says:

Brady has the record for having the most records.

  10. Bird Says:

    Casual observer

Haha. Good one. Yes he does

  11. Go Bucs! Says:

    420 LFG

  12. Cleanhouse Says:

Brady will be in some good company with our franchise passing leader

  13. SlyPirate Says:

    HERE’S A CRAZY TB12 RECORD …

If TB12 returns to the Bucs next year he’ll be the franchises #1 all-time winningest Bucs QB.

    (Most games won)

  14. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

There’s no doubt about it that Brady is the best QB to ever play the game!! Anyone saying otherwise it’s just a Brady hater (I never understood why some people hate winners, isn’t that what America was built on? American exceptionalism) … That being said I am starting to see some wear on his tires!! His reflexes have slowed ever so slightly!! If they do somehow win the super bowl again I don’t think he’ll be back!! …. He’s still obviously a top 3 QB in the league right now and everyone who needed a QB are kicking themselves right now for not taking him! (Niners I’m looking at you!!)… But age does catch up to EVERYONE!! I just hope he has one more playoff run left in the tank!!

  15. Listnfrmafar Says:

Sorry, you could be right or it’s as simple as young WR taking longer to get open. Godwin was adapting great, we saw AB’s ability to separate and Evan’s is a bit slower at it but could be because of his size.

  16. Bucfan Says:

    St.Petebucsfan,
That play with Johnson and AB where Johnson was shoved back into AB was a catch and he went for a first down. Watch the play again.

  17. Eddie Marz Says:

Brady now had won 241 games as a starter. To put that into perspective, if Dan Marino won EVERY game he started he’d wouldn’t match Brady’s total. GOBUCS!

  18. Rob Singer Says:

The thing to remember is, Brady has NEVER cared about stats or accolades or any of that type of stuff. He always and only ever cares about winning games and the championship. Piling up yards and TD passes is something Peyton and Patrick do. Brady just plays to win any way he can. It’s whatever will be will be with him.

    Back-to-back….to back. It’s coming.
