Turning The Corner Or A Fluke?

November 28th, 2021

Cornerback Carlton Davis

Man, the Bucs defense almost looked like last year’s defense on Monday night.

With starting corner Sean Murphy-Bunting returning for the first time since he was injured in the season-opener, the Bucs defense looked like it did in January.

Physical. Quick. Relentless. Punishing.

Is that a sign the defense has flipped the switch or was it just a fluke because the Bucs were playing the Giants? (Just a reminder that the Bucs may have killed Jason Garrett’s coaching career.)

Former general manager Mike Tannenbaum of The 33rd Team thinks how the Bucs secondary plays as SMB regains his form and Carlton Davis returns will go a long way to determine if the Bucs can defend their Super Bowl title.

… Both Dean and Murphy-Bunting have returned to action, and Davis was designated to return off IR.

If Antonio Brown is also able to play, the Bucs could be getting healthy just in time to make a run at the top seed and another Super Bowl.

Bucco Bruce Arians seems to be dropping hints that Brown may be back next Sunday. Davis’ 21-day window to be activated began this week so it’s possible both could return at the same time.

How awesome would it be to have Brown and Davis come back together, one of the team’s three No. 1 receivers and its best corner? That would be a significant boost physically and mentally.

Just a reminder the Bucs are 5-0 with Brown, 2-3 without him.

I saw that Davis traveled with the team. Could he play in this game?

  2. August 1976 Buc Says:

Time will tell. 1 game against the G Men offense does not say much. It was nice to see them play better, but we still have not seen the Starting Defensive backfield play more than 1.5 quarters of football in 2021

    Is Davis even activated?

It’s better to be lucky than good! The major element of luck in the NFL is the injury factor. It’s not unusual for a mediocre team to get healthy at just the right time to make a playoff run and cap it with a title.

And so we have the talent, the skill, do we have the luck?

As with everything else leave it to the GOAT. We have Tom Brady at QB. We have the “Luck of the Irish”.

I didn’t really believe last season would come out like a fake TV script…everything falling into place…too many unbelievable things coming true as fantasized…why not again this year?

I don’t think he’s been added to the 53 man roster. But it is weird that he traveled with the team . Scotty didn’t travel with the team so maybe they activate him this morning

The Bucs were the final nail in Garrett’s Giants tenure but he was more than done in by Danny Dimes and Gettleman’s awful handling of the O-line. These one off comments are so weird man where do you get this stuff? Garrett is a decent coordinator and someone is gonna give him a shot somewhere.

  7. Bojim Says:

Wait till after the game and we’ll see if they turned the corner.

    Watch out fo’ Bobby Gizzle!!!

    SMB sucks!

Half the bucs defense makes the worst quarterbacks in the NFL look like Superstars. I mean Carson Wentz??? His last 2 games he threw a combined what 150 yards?? Saints QB same . And make the good quarterbacks look like the worst. Something is definitely wrong here.
