Injuries Updated

October 19th, 2021

Status.

Yesterday, Bucs Super Bowl-winning Bucs coach Bucco Bruce Arians told WFLA-TV Channel 8 sports anchor Dan Lucas that Lavonte David and foot-rubbing, car-littering film guru tight Rob Gronkowski might be able to play Sunday.

Without naming names this morning, Arians updated a handful of injured players that Joe assumes included David and Gronk.

“Have my fingers crossed on two or three guys[will be ready for Sunday] but it will be down to the wire, probably,” Arians said.

The phrase “fingers crossed” is exactly how Arians termed David’s status to Lucas.

As for safety Antoine Winfield, Arians said he still hasn’t been able to pass concussion protocols. Until he is able to get past that threshold, he simply won’t be available.

  5. Adrnagy Says:

Theres acouple spots talking about it.

NY Jets should explore a Marcus Maye for O.J. Howard trade @ jetpress

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported the Buccaneers could look to improve their secondary by the November 2 trade deadline with Jets safety Marcus Maye potentially reuniting with former coach Todd Bowles.

  6. SOEbuc Says:

Fingers crossed is not much of an update.

  7. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

Wtf is this “Concussion Protocol” how the f is he still out and we see other player get knocked hard and back the next play 😐😒

  8. SOEbuc Says:

    Adrnagy

Lol Mayes is like $10 million for the safety position we don’t need.

  9. Adrnagy Says:

Daniel jones was back from concussion this week. and he looked shaky after hit.

Winfield is going for a month.

Wishing the best health for both.

As far for $ Things can be worked out. If bucs believe winfield is a no go for contact.

  10. Elita Vita Says:

Yes, long time on concussion protocol for Winfield.

  11. cmurda Says:

AW Jr situation is approaching scary proportions. Still in concussion protocol is incredibly serious.

  12. Rico210 aka wutdaBucisthis Says:

Damn that’s scary. Godspeed to you Winfield
    Go Bucs

  13. Joe Says:

NY Jets should explore a Marcus Maye for O.J. Howard trade @ jetpress

    (Sigh)

When are people going to (finally) grasp that OJ is untradeable? 🙁

Ali Marpet missed three games last year with a concussion. 🤷‍♂️

  15. SlyPirate Says:

I love BA’s coaching mind games.

BA just says this stuff to stress out the opposing coaches.

  16. Robert Says:

I don’t remember seeing AW have a big hit to the noggin

  17. tampabuscsbro Says:

I mean Marpet was in it for a while and still came back. I was really worried about him though.

  18. Jerry Says:

Winfield situation is starting to get concerning. The fact that it’s been this long suggests it may be more serious than reported. Don’t think it was every reported as not serious. Every concussion is serious. –Joe
And there are rumors that we are looking for safeties.

  19. crazyBucs_CL Says:

Keep all three out till after bye. we can play these two games with the same team as last Thursday.
Gronk should NOT play against Saints. SP is going for him..they are going to hurt him again.

  20. Robert Says:

@crazy…never thought about that….but true. the will probably be looking to hurt TB and the others as well. dirty team….at least they matched with the right qb.

  21. zzbuc Says:

    @Joe.

Why do you get kind of upset, when somebody comments on a rumour that´s out there?

I agree with you, I don´t think OJ will be traded either, We were commenting on your always generous and wonderfull site about a rumour, that´s all….Just Chill Joe…..
    Sighs

  22. Coburn Says:

Its very normal for players to miss a couple games from a concussion. Almost always miss the following week ad a minimum. Mahommes coming back so quickly in playoffs is what still smells fishy to me, even though we won it all

  23. firethecannons Says:

just as soon leave 3 out until healed–long season–we can beat the Bears

  24. Bojim Says:

    I’m worried about Winfield.

  25. Joe Says:

Why do you get kind of upset, when somebody comments on a rumour that´s out there?

Because Joe respects Bucs fans and thinks Bucs fans (especially those who come to this site) should be intelligent enough not to fall for that kind of rumor nonsense. The Bucs are deep at safety and Howard — all together now — is untradeable.

The only way the Bucs could trade Howard is if they threw him in with a trade that would send — pick a good starter — Ali Marpet or Will Gholston? — for a second-day pick.

There is no team that’s going to trade for a guy who is not yet 100 percent who has been inconsistent all his career, has a big salary and is in the final weeks of his contract.

Think about it: Stephon Gilmore, a proven top-shelf corner, could only pull a sixth-round pick. Why? He is damaged goods, his salary is very steep and he in the final year of his contract. If Gilmore could only pull a sixth-round pick, Joe has no clue how anyone thinks Howard is an option to be traded.

Besides, even if there was a market for Howard, the Bucs aren’t going to unload him until Gronk is fully healthy. And that likely won’t be until after the trade deadline.

Jordan Reed spent last 9 games of 2019, couldn’t pass the protocol. A year later he went out west, happened again, he retired

  27. David Says:

Why do people not understand that there are varying degrees to a concussion? Just like a hamstring or an ankle. Could be a week, could be several.

I don’t think they should rush anyone back against the Bears. Let them take their time to heal

  28. zzbuc Says:

    @ Joe
Well, seems to me that´s what I said before, we have an understanding, I think the rumour has no sense, my point is…This is a site where we can exchange opinions, so why getting mad on some other´s opinion? You either agree or disagree, what doesn´t make any sense is getting mad Joe……Everybody uses the word diversity, well diversity starts with diveristy on others opinions, if not, it doesn´t make any sense……..
