“For The First Time In My Life, I Really Have A Quarterback”

September 8th, 2020

New vibe.

Throughout his adult life, new Bucs running back Leonard Fournette has been a one-man-band.

Defenses facing Fournette knew if they took him out, his team’s offense was impotent.

While at LSU, Les Miles ran an old school Big Ten ground-and-pound offense and Fournette got pounded on the ground. Taking his talents to the NFL and Jacksonville, Fournette had Blake Bortles as a quarterback. More ground and pound only this time, it was grownarse men who did the pounding.

Here with the Bucs? Fournette is part of an offensive dream team with two Pro Bowl receivers, a future Hall of Fame tight end and a first-round draft pick of a tight end.

Fournette, when asked about playing on such a loaded offense, still seemed at a loss for words.

“For the first time in my life, I really have a quarterback,” Fournette said via a Zoom conference call, a smile of amazement splashed on his face. “So that is eye-opening for me.”

And some quarterback it is. Fournette will take (some) handoffs from one of the best who ever lived, six-time Super Bowl-winning, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.

Fournette rattled off all the Bucs weapons and said, “It’s not just you. So [defenses] have to gameplan against eight guys, not just one. I think that opens up a lot of variety of things.”

It seems Fournette is most excited, outside of having a quarterback and a chance at a lot more wins, about how he won’t need a wheelchair or a walker to get to his rig after games on Sunday.

“We have guys, Shady and RoJo, I am comfortable with,” Fournette said. “I don’t have to get beat up every week.”

Maybe he’ll ball out this year for a chance to go to the superbowl????

  2. 813bucboi Says:

defense wont be stacking the box daring TB to throw like they did JW last year….lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!

    Good point ^^^^^

    @813bucboi

We faced one of the lowest percentages of stacked boxes last year cause all we could do was pass the ball, wasnt daring jw to throw, awful assessment as most buc fans have

  5. Mike Says:

I wonder if he would have been excited about “you know who” if he was here, ohhhhh wait a sec, he would have never signed with the Bucs if the human turnover machine was still in town.

  6. Hodad Says:

For the first time in my life I feel like I really have a Q.B.. Amen brother, you ain’t the only one who feels that way!

  7. Bucsfan951 Says:

It was simple the past few years. Stack the box, force the qb to throw and get the turnovers. How many lb’ers got ints last yr by doing just that?

It’s a great time to be a Bucs fan!

  8. Roy T. Buford Says:

Well, that statement is uncool to put on his departed, former JAX team mate, but Bucs players like RoJo, Brate, and 50+ other players from each year for the past 5 years can say the same thing, legitimately.

  9. Paul Says:

Even an article like this you still slip in your childish moniker -but I do see that you changed it. HOLY COW!!!

one of the best who ever lived, six-time Super Bowl-winning, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring Bucs quarterback Tom Brady.

So funny that we don’t see that neutered dog in here chirping. His lover is 3rd on the QB depth chart over there in the Big Easy. Lmao.

    3 headed dog Cerberus!

I promise to only pound this rock about calling our 3 headed dog at running back Cerberus on articles about the running backs. I don’t want to be too trollish. Lol.

Oh he still comes here. He just cherry picks his battles. As he doe with all of his ‘stats’.

    whatever you say….lol…

  15. Bojim Says:

Paul, its Joe’s site so deal with it

  16. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

I read the stats a few weeks ago but can’t find it now. In Jacksonville, the opposing defense stacked the box like 40% of the time while most teams had the box stacked 30% or less. Teams game planned against Forunette and Jackonville’s RBs. He should thrive better in our more well-balanced offense.

  17. webster Says:

Its funny all you guys rag on posters like ndog and aks why can’t he just let it go but on every article, there are numerous posters bringing up winston just to bash. Joe writes an article about olineman and you people bring up winston. Joe writes an article about special teams and you bring up winston. Its not ndog that wont let it go, its you fools. Winston actually lives rent free in your head and ots obvious. Soon maybe you will stop being so slow and realize why joe called him America’s quarterback. You are proven joe right with every article because here you are bringing him up AGAIN. Hat tip to you joe. America’s qb was spot on. You have proven they cannot get enough of him. You guys sound like the boyfriend/girlfriend that was dumped and all you do is bash your ex at every turn yet claim you are over him/her. Your actions prove otherwise. RENT FREE.

Just asking, what website did you get this info from? I’d like to visit it

  20. kyle Hoge Says:

I would of preferred to hear fournette take the high road and stay away from throwing ex teammates under the bus. The guy has been a locker room issue from the reporting out there. I trust the bucs leadership to keep the lockeroom tight. Who knows if this guy will be here next year?

  21. mark2001 Says:

Or Maybe Nation, the opposition thought that we had trouble running the ball, and given enough throws, Jameis was pretty certain to throw games away.

  22. Pok Says:

My money says Jameis doesn’t even dress for Sunday. I want a screen shot of Joe’s (ahem ‘murica’s favorite) QB sitting there in a tee shirt and ball cap cheering on his teammates. No chance to play is what we may see. Talk about a career downturn.

  23. lambchop Says:

    @SB,

Oh, I know he does, but he hasn’t waltzed in this article yet.

  24. HeyItsAdam Says:

For all the people who were saying “the box was stacked” against the Bucs….ask yourself: Why?

    Yeah… because it wasn’t.

Peyton Barber, Rojo and Dare Aaksjdfsjfiowemj didn’t scare anyone.

  25. James Taylor Says:

I’m interested to see what Fournette can learn from Shady. I think he could improve his elusiveness and lateral movement and that could bring him to the next level.

  26. adam from ny Says:

    fake adam right there ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

  27. Buc1987 Says:

    Yup it’s real.

    Brady’s a Buc!

  28. NDog is an idiot Says:

Leonard. You wouldn’t be saying this if you were on the Buccaneers last season!! America’s 3rd string Quarterback!! JayMiss!!

  29. JimmyJack Says:

The only time the box was stacked against the Bucs last year was when a LB was baiting getting ready to drop back into coverage to collect his reward from Jameis.

  30. Stanglassman Says:

That was a flat out lie by BA. Call it want you want but there is no truth to it whatsoever. I get moving on from Jameis when you only have a two year horizon with the chance to get Brady. Trashing Jameis every chance you get with lies and exaggerations just makes me lose respect for him as a coach and person
