Bucs Rookies Behind On Getting To Tampa

June 10th, 2020

Carlton Davis talks rookies

At least during the asinine lockout of 2011, Bucs free agents and rookies could get to Tampa, set up an apartment and bond with new teammates without dealing with bizarre societal challenges.

That’s the not the case this spring.

Carlton Davis chatted with Joe and various media today and talked about how the defense is talking and working on its own and keeping its chemistry going.

Joe asked whether that “chemistry” includes Antoine Winfield, the second-round pick expected to be a stud starter at safety.

Davis made it seem like interaction with rookies has been minimal at best.

“Winfield is actually under the same agency as me, so my agent got me in contact with him like maybe a week or two after he was drafted,” Davis said. “And I’ve had a conversation with him, and he’s definitely going to be a part of our chemistry and how we’re going to build this thing. But obviously, due to [The Sickness], it’s been kind of hard for [the rookies] to, you know, get down here, get situated and all that good stuff. So I haven’t physically been able to see him and talk with him, but I’ve been able to talk to him.”

Joe hoped Davis would give an enthusiastic response about how Winfield is in town and he’s in the mix daily online and elsewhere. But that wasn’t the case.

The Bucs have staff dedicated to acclimating rookies and getting them settled locally. Hopefully they’re in full swing and everyone will be here soon. Joe has heard Tom Brady has extra bedrooms, if necessary.

If Brady can pass around the ball around with 10 guys (?) at a high school can he throw the ball with a couple of receivers vs secondary (up to ten)? Front seven? DT vs OL? Nothing hard core but at least these guys can get off their couches and at least get their toes wet in the heat (I think the V12 rays help from getting sick). Help Coach Brady become stud d!ck in the locker room talking to all his guys.

Is WOW the reason you can’t say (…….) and can only label it the sickness? Wow, that sure would want to make me want to run right on down.

Really excited to see our DB’s play this season. A very solid group.

Just a thought. Why are we constantly hearing about the offensive getting together and practicing, but no word on the defense doing the same?

It would seem important to me that the rookies be signed…..

BigHog…i was asking about everyone other than Brady getting practice in. Secondary needs the most practice. I’m worried about Weinfield Jr at the beginning of the year. Maybe the last stretch like last year. Probably only two preseason game. And it’s GOAT QB first year locker room leader TB12 not getting practice with his team and none with him. Revolves around Coach Brady.
