NFL Did The Bucs A Solid

May 10th, 2020

“Buckle up, Payton.”

A lot of folks out there are talking about the pressure on park-violating, home-invading Bucs quarterback Tom Brady and the Bucs.

First, no offseason. Then, who knows about training camp (if we are fortunate, preseason — a true waste of time and electricity — will be canceled) or how long it will last.

But there is one man who is not sweating. In fact, he thinks the Bucs are in a perfect spot and that the NFL set the Bucs up (in a good way) to play New Orleans in the Superdome right off the bat.

Who is this voice of reason? Why none other than jet-flyin’, kiss–stealin‘, data-analyzin’, Bucs-film-studyin’, limousine-ridin’ Thomas Bassinger of the Tampa Bay Times.

Bassinger notes the Bucs starting the season in New Orleans is perfect.

Over the past five seasons, New Orleans is 27-13 at home. That .675 win percentage is the sixth-best in the NFL.

In September, however, they’re 3-5 at home. That .375 win percentage ranks in the bottom third of the league. And two of those losses have been to the Bucs, one in 2015 and the other in 2018.

Bassinger makes a great point. The slimy Saints are notoriously slow starters. Once they get a few games under their belt, look out.

And Joe would argue the Bucs are a much improved team over the squad that beat the slimy Saints to open the 2018 season.

Is it too much, by the way, to ask for the Bucs to finish September with a winning record?

I wanted a division game right out of the gate. Screw NO being a slow start, they have exactly zero film of this teams offense with Brady under center. They can guess, but we have the advantage. There’s not a single defensive scheme they can throw at TB12 that he isn’t ready for.

Good luck covering Evans, Godwin, Brate, Jones and Gronk!

(Yes, I left out Howard, after last year, he has some serious work to put in before he can be trusted)

Plz stop with the stupid nicknames. Other than that thanks for trying to keep us interested you’re doing a great job

  3. Bucs Fan Since ‘76 Says:

Joe – can you please explain why you are using the phrase “park-violating, home-invading Bucs quarterback Tom Brady?”

  4. Pete I Says:

A Florida woman used a rifle to defend her home against two armed intruders who demanded money from her husband, killing one man, police said.

Buc Fan because Brady got harassed by a park official while he was working out breaking the state order of all parks being closed and while breaking the NFL rule of no team contact he walked into a strangers house without ringing the doorbell while looking for Byron Leftsandwhich. Gotta say they must live in a really nice place if you can leave your front door unlocked these days! Obviously you’re new up here, these monikers the JoeBucsFan.commer/moderators like to label people people with. Do yourself a favor, don’t kill any brain cells wondering, pondering or rationalizing why, Joe will tell you IT’S MY PARTY I’LL LABEL WHO I WANT TOO!!! Don’t be ‘that guy’ who can’t handle it!

People are acting like opening up the season in New Orleans is a bad thing. @Saints is our most important road game this season. Getting it out of the way when they aren’t rolling is a good thing.

Plus all the other teams are at least doing virtual workouts since there are no OTAs. The Saints are the only team not doing them. They are just expecting their players to show up to training camp in shape.

They might not be as ready to start the season as they normally are. And even when they are ready they struggle early. Since 2010 they are 3-7 in week 1.

Davidbucs- good intro for the newbie. Spot on. Notice Joe doesn’t use “thousands of meals donated” as a moniker. It’s generally a slight that he attaches, unless it’s a certain QB that he saw play against BC that crystalized him as America’s QB forever….

    Hah!

On the subject…This stinks from the first to the last….THE SHIELD should not be your friend! ‘

  9. Formerly Tampa 2 Says:

Not that much of a solid Joe. I believe the team has 5 short weeks to be ready for.

  10. BigMacAttack Says:

Joe does as Joe pleases and that isn’t going to change. If you guys think you can change Joe’s copy, we’ll good luck with that 😂😂😂

  11. BigMacAttack Says:

This no ota no practice thing is stupid. Test every player, coach, trainer, cook and staff. Put everyone up in a facility to stay for two weeks and have a mini camp. Every team can do this right now. The Bucs could rent Disney like Chucky did. And seriously, the only person that Corona could really hurt is Tom Moore. The NFL with their infinite funds and wisdom can’t figure this out. Amazing 😂

    America’s backup 3rd string QB

  13. Alaska Abdominal Snowman Says:

Joe I already debunked your “slow start” hogwash. It’s about as useful as my lucky Bucs socks (how have those been working out?). Here it is again:

You’re not paying attention. When a team with the same head coach, and the same quarterback, have a distinct trend, it’s real. It’s not different guys in different jerseys. Heck, Sean Payton and Drew Brees themselves himself have talked about this over the years.–Joe

I’ll bite Joe, not sure what you would consider a ‘start’ so I did the first four games and the first game of the last 14 years for the Saints and Bucs.

Since 2006, the Saints are 28-28 in the first quarter of the season.

Since 2006, the Saints are 6-8 in season openers.

The last two season the Saints opened the season 3-1. Last year they won the opener and the other one, well we know what happened there.

    Now the Bucs:

Since 2006, the Bucs are 21-35 in the first quarter of the season.

Since 2006, the Bucs are 5-9 in season openers.

The last 3 years we are 2-2 in the first quarter.

What does it all mean? Well by your logic we are sitting pretty because the Saints are “notorious slow starters”, right?
So by applying your slow starter logic, the Saints should be lickin their chops since we are even more notorious for being slow starters. That doesn’t even consider our team’s lack of continuity this season.

So ether your argument is hogwash or your point about slow starts actually points to more trouble for the Bucs, not less.

    Cant argue FACTS.

  14. Bird Says:

    David and sport

    Nailed it.
Apparently tom brady hasnt earned a positive nickname yet
Jaimes was americas qb before he even got here And i think joe openly admits that

    😂

  15. Tompa Says:

Brady gets “park violating home invader”
    And
    Winston got “America’s QB”

    Lmao someone bitter Joe?

  16. Alaska Abdominal Snowman Says:

Oh ok Joe, I guess I didn’t understand that as long as a coach and QB stay the same, the team will always perform the same. Got it. I guess free agency, the draft, and other ways to improve your team is pointless because as long as it’s Brees and Payton, they will be notoriously slow starters.

  17. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

It’s all good…until a hurricane enters the gulf and we can’t move the game to Tampa and can’t play it in NO. Bah…that could NEVER happen!

  18. Bucs Fan Since ‘76 Says:

DavidBigBucs99 – no worries buddy, I’m actually an old timer here. Been reading and posting for many years. I am very familiar with all of Joe’s monikers, including the stupid Brady one. I was seriously asking Joe why he is using it. Like what’s the point? Is he trying to be funny? Something else? Or is it simply that he likes it and it’s his/their website so Joe can do whatever Joe wants. Just seems kind of strange, disrespectful and demeaning.
