Rondé Barber A Believer

April 23rd, 2020

Super Bowl chatter.

Rondé Barber is stoked.

In the wake of the Bucs trading for future Hall of Fame tight end Rob Gronkowski, Barber, a former Bucs great, did a hit on TMZ and he’s talking Super Bowl. The Bucs in the Super Bowl, that is.

No apologies.

“To say I am excited is an understatement,” Barber said.

Barber added his phone is blowing with people trying to find season tickets (they never heard of Ticketmaster?).

“You don’t sign Tom Brady to a team that has this much talent … without the expectation that you wanna win a Super Bowl,” Barber says.

“They have talent on this football team. And, an emerging defense. I would say the expectation is to win this year.”

Barber also noted there will be plenty of primetime games for the Bucs with Tom Brady, reigning WWE champion Rob Gronkowski and NFL sack king Shaq Barrett.

To that point, a loyal reader of Joe’s reached out on Instagram (@thefrankmenendez) to point out Troy Aikman’s response to a Gronkowski post on Instagram.

Aikman, the Hall of Fame quarterback now part of the “A-Team” of FOX Sports NFL broadcasting, along with budding adult film star Joe Buck, asked Gronk for restaurant recommendations in Tampa.

Why? Because, Aikman said, he will be doing some Bucs games this year.

Finally. Al Michaels and (maybe) Jim Nantz and Buck calling Bucs games. Joe is so over that fossil Dick Stockton.

You can see Barber’s full interview below.

When will barber be in the ring of honor?

  2. Rayjay1122 Says:

It is so freaking bright in Tampa. Almost got blinded before finding my shades! This is fun.

  3. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Rhonde Barber is such a good commentator

He always gives thoughtful, meaningful insights on the game……and it’s genuine and non agenda driven.

Alot of these so called “sports commentators” seems like they have an axe to grind or they want to create attention towards themselves or their Agendas…..

but not Rhonde…..he’s 100% the real deal

  4. El Buco Realisto Says:

    @Ben

Because the ring of honor is beneath him!!!!!!!!!! Rhonde Barber is a Hall of Famer!!!!!!!!!!! Shame on the national media that is holding it back because he played in Tampa!!!!!!!!!!

Rhonde Barber is the greatest Buc of all time!!!!!!!!!!!

    go bucs!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Frank Menendez Says:

  6. Blogtalkfootball.com Says:

I love how Ronde genuinely loves this team. You can see it in his eyes how excited he is for this season. I can’t wait to hold my D and Fence up and actually hear fans yelling at the top of their lungs!

    Go Bucs!

  7. Blogtalkfootball.com Says:

Ronde is in the ring of honor!

  8. Buc4evr Says:

More like when will Ronde finally be recognized for his accomplishments get into the HOF. 🤬.

  9. Buc4evr Says:

Just add an OT, RB,Safety, and Kicker and this team will go to the SB. Hope Licht can nail the draft tonight and doesn’t do something stupid.

  10. Casual Observer Says:

Stupid as in drafting a kicker?

  11. JGhotier Says:

Why are you over Dick Stockton? Curious to know why you state and think that…

Also, and by no means are they an “A-team”, but an underrated broadcast team that does a beautiful job calling games is Spero Dedes/Adam Archuletta. They called our game vs the Colts last season (which was a fun game to watch) and I thought they not only added to it, but made the experience watching at home even more enjoyable…which is part of their job.

Think that tandem of broadcasters should get more attention and accolades. Again, not saying they are the best, or an “A-team”, but I really enjoy their broadcasts.

  12. Leighroy Says:

If he’s asking Gronk, then I expect to see “the A-team” lining up shots of Red Bull at McDintons. I’d figure Troy would be more of an On Swann guy tho for dinner.

  13. Mike Johnson Says:

Sure..Everybody is a believer until Brady goes down. And he will go down at 43. Then who we got at QB?

  14. Smashsquatch Says:

Glazers and Licht need to be applauded for dominating the entire sports world this offseason and resurrecting our Bucs into Super Bowl favorites overnight. Both ownership and GM receive a ton of criticism and never enough credit when making the right moves. Landing Brady & Gronk has been the ventilator this franchised desperately needed. Regardless of what happens this season I feel like we’ve already won with the increased exposure and instant relevance. Bravo Bucs brass, bravo!

  15. 123Urout Says:

I’m so excited for the Bucs this season and for the city of Tampa. I hope there will be a lot of prime time games. GO BUCS !!!

  16. Razor Ramone Says:

We do have Detroit on the road…. Thanksgiving????

  17. DRFEELGOOD Says:

@mike johnson. If Brady goes down, it won’t be because he is 43. It’ll be because he gets hit in a way that would injure any other QB. He is by no means fragile. C’mon dude.
