Weather: Thank goodness for domes. Per the good people of AccuWeather.com,  the temperature in downtown Detroit will be downright cold with temperatures at or below freezing before and after the game, inside Ford Field it will be 68 degrees.

Odds: Per the Mirage in Las Vegas, Bucs  -5.5; O/U 45.5.

Outlook: The Lions are looking to snap a six-game losing streak, and maybe save the job of Bill Belicheat disciple Matt Patricia.  This spooks Joe because you figure sooner or later the Lions will jump up and surprise some team. Given that No. 3 quarterback David Blough will start and the Bucs’ history with backup quarterbacks, this scares Joe. Also, we will see what Mr. Entertainment, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, can do without star receiver Mike Evans.  Though Jameis did an excellent job without Evans last week, he had help from lesser receivers. Can Breshad Perriman and Justin Watson step up again? It stands to reach Chris Godwin will be taken out of the game. Patricia didn’t forget how to coach a defense.

Trinkets: QB Jameis Winston passed for a career-high 456 yards with 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions last week, his sixth career game with 4 or more passing touchdowns. Jameis has 9 games with 300 or more passing yards in 2019, tied for most in the NFL with Matty Ice. Jameis passed for 285 yards and 2 touchdowns with 2 picks in his last game against Detroit. He has 300 or more yards and 2 or more touchdown passes in 3 of his past 4 road games. … RB Ronald Jones had 59 scrimmage yards (36 rushing, 23 receiving) in Week 14. Has 65 or more scrimmage yards and a rushing touchdown in 2 of his past 3 games on the road. … WR Chris Godwin led the Bucs with 7 receptions and 91 receiving yards last week. He has 3 receiving touchdowns in his past 4 games. Godwin has 7 or more catches in 2 of his past 3 road games. He ranks second in NFL with 1,212 receiving yards and tied for second in touchdown catches (9). … WR Breshad Perriman had 70 receiving yards and his second touchdown catch of season last week. Looks for his third in a row with 70 or more receiving yards. … TE Cam Brate had his third receiving touchdown of the season in Week 14. He has 4 receiving touchdowns in his past 4 games vs. NFC North teams. Brate looks for his fourth in row on road vs. an NFC North foe with a touchdown catch. … LB Shaq Barrett had a half-sack last week and leads NFL
with 15 sacks. Needs 1.5 sacks to tie Hall of Famer Warren Sapp (16.5 sacks in 2000) for Bucs’ single-season record for sacks. Barrett looks for his third straight road game with a sack and a forced fumble. … Rookie LB Devin White had his third career forced fumble last week. He is the only rookie with 3 or more forced fumbles (3), 2 or more sacks (2.5) and an interception in 2019. … CB Carlton Davis had 3 passes defended in Week 14 and is tied for NFL lead with 17 passes defended in 2019. … QB David Blough had 280 pass yards with 2 touchdowns and a pick in his only career home start (Week 13). Blough looks for his third game in a row with a touchdown pass. … RB Bo Scarbrough had 70 scrimmage yards (65 rushing, 5 receiving) in Week 14. He is aiming for his fourth in row with 70 or more scrimmage yards. … WR Kenny Golladay led the Lions with 6 catches for 58 yards and a touchdown catch last week. He leads the NFL with 10 receiving touchdowns, the first Lions player with 10 or more receiving touchdowns since Calvin Johnson (12 touchdown catches in 2013). Golladay has 6 receiving touchdowns in 6 home games in 2019. He is looking for his third in row with receiving touchdown. … WR Marvin Jones is tied for second in NFL with 9 touchdown catches this season. He has 7 receiving touchdowns in his past 4 home games and aims for his third in row at home with a touchdown catch. Had 64 receiving yards in the last meeting with the Bucs. … WR Danny Amendola had 8 catches for 77 yards in his last game vs. the Bucs (October 2017 with the Belicheats). … DE Trey Flowers had a sack last week. He has 6 sacks in his past 6 games and looks for his third in a row with sack. CB Darius Slay had a pass defended last week. He has 7 passes defended in his past 4 games and looks for his fifth in a row with a pass defended. Slay had 6 tackles, 2 passes defended, an interception and a fumble recovery in last game against the Bucs. Since 2013, Slay is the only player with 100 or more passes defended (101). … S Tracy Walker led the Lions with a career-high 13 tackles in Week 14. He looks for his seventh in a row at home with 6 or more tackles. … S Tavon Wilson tied his career-high with 11 tackles last week. … Rookie LB Jahlani Tavai had a career-high 11 tackles in Week 14. … LB Jarrad Davis has forced a fumble in 2 of his past 3 home games.

  2. BucAllNight Says:

Lets Connect-4 in a row Go Bucs!!!

    I predict JW 400 + 4TD’s no pics

    Bucs win 42-13

  3. BROCKTACULAR Says:

4 in a row could be the beginning of something GREAT for this franchise!

  4. Jean Lafitte Says:

I predict a better than normal rushing effort with RoJo and Barber going over 125 yards combined, receiving and rushing. I also see the TE’s getting more looks with ME13 shelved, and Godwin doubled.

  5. July Joe Says:

POUND THE ROCK and give Jameis an easy game to rest that broken thumb!

  6. Defense Rules Says:

I’d say the odds are 50-50 that the Bucs win this game. The Lions aren’t the best team in the NFL by any means, BUT … they’re a lot better than their 3-9-1 record makes them appear. Midway through the season they were 3-4-1 with Stafford as their QB, but then lost him. Jeff Driskel (0-3) & David Blough (0-2) obviously haven’t gotten it done, but the Lions haven’t been blown out either. Ironically, TURNOVERS have played a role it looks like in their losses.

I’m thinking that the Bucs’ DEFENSE will be the story of the game today. Lions offense these past 3 games (with Blough as QB) moved the ball against some very good defenses (Vikings & Bears especially) but couldn’t punch it in AND Blough threw FOUR INTs very late in each game (trying to come back?). Actually had a chance late to win against Redskins & the Bears, but those INTs killed the comeback. Who knew INTs could do that?

Don’t take the Lions lightly. Usually it’s the Bucs’ defense that’s hurting from injuries, but today it’s the Bucs’ offense that’ll feel the pinch with Cappa & ME13 out. Time to put on their big boy pants and git ‘er done.

  7. Tackleblockwin Says:

    @Defense Rules

I agree with you. The Lions are much better than their record shows. Hope our Bucs don’t take them lightly.

  8. Adrnagy Says:

Lions sucks I don’t care what you say. That’s the bottom line. Their coach should get fire.
Bucs win easily in the trenches = W
    50-3

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Not to nitpick but didn’t Shaq get a full sack last week?

Bucs Defense will show up big time today!!!

  10. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

The thing about playing Jameis today with a fractured thumb on his throwing hand, is the risk of another more serious injury in a game that will only be meaningful measuring the progress of the overall team, which is not meaningless.
I guess I am fearful that with Buc luck, Jameis could suffer a more serious type injury.

  11. MadMax Says:

Suh dont care, ROFLMAO….its a meaningless game to him.

Anyways, we can get his replacement in DT Marvin Wilson in the 2nd round.

Seeing a good game matters more than draft position IMO….I’ll take that and guys playing like they REALLY want to be here next year….theres something brewing in Tampa, NFL!

Sign JW 3 years, 20 mill per…sign Barrett and JPP, let go of expensive dead weight thats not living up to the $$ we’re paying, starting at Center!!!! I love the guy but no way he makes it through at his cost!

  12. MadMax Says:

1st – Simmons or Delpit for Safety (Whiehead needs some help back there)
    2nd – DT Marvin Wilson (Sapp 2.0)
    3rd [or trade back into the 2nd] – RT Becton 6’7 370
    4th – C Darryl Williams Miss st., 6’2 310

  13. BucAllNight Says:

    21-0 (2nd quarter)

Don’t look like they will get that 13 I predicted… we are on our way to 42 tho

Bout time we fully THROTTLED an opponent.

Lets FINISH STRONG 2nd half and get RG4 3 drives of mop up duty.
