Brent Musburger Doubles Down

December 15th, 2019
Brent Musburger

Friend of “3” in the desert.

Brent Musburger isn’t backing off.

Recently, when he made his weekly Friday afternoon appearance with Chris “Mad Dog” Russo heard exclusively on SiriusXM Radio to give his three NFL picks of the week, Musburger raved about America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, and referred to him as “Mr. Entertainment” because of the thrilling roller coaster Jameis takes fans for a ride on each Sunday.

The famed broadcaster, who has an eye for the ladies whether it is at Florida State, at Iowa State or in the Orange Bowl, went all in on Jameis once again two days ago. He is laying cash on Jameis and the Bucs this afternoon.

“Listen, the most entertaining player in the National Football League — bar none! — is Jameis Winston. He scores for both teams, OK? He can be our first 30/30 man: He can wind up with 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.

“The Lions are a complete mess without Stafford at quarterback. There is no way James — well, he can let the Lions outscore him and I would lose this one. But I’m going to take the Bucs! I think Coach Arians, by the way, has done a fabulous job down there with this team so far. And I’m going to take the Bucs minus-3.5.

As Joe wrote in the Gameday post, Joe has a bad feeling about this game. The Lions are looking to snap a six-game losing streak and might be fighting for their coach’s job. The Bucs are down their star receiver in Mike Evans and they have no running game to speak of.

And most importantly, the Lions are starting their No. 3 quarterback. Does Joe need to remind folks the sordid history of this Bucs franchise facing backup quarterbacks?

Then again, how can Joe argue with Musburger’s taste in football and women?

When you look at the injuries not just in this game but across the league there is NO WAY anyone can consider adding games to the regular season. Cut preseason in half and have two bye weeks. No more Thursday night games. I thought we cared about the players?

  2. Lunchbox Says:

Those takes by Musburger on those girls are hilarious, it’s a shame these days he could get in hot water just for saying those girls looked good.

Interesting comparison between Winston and Manning. Difference is running game and defense. At least our defense seems to be improving. Our running game on the other hand….

    STATS ARE FOR LOSERS!!!!!!!!!!!!…………………..(thanks Raheem)

Ok, I’ll end this debate right now.—

If you had Peyton Manning at age 25

    and

If you had Jameis Winston at age 25

and Both are currently free agents…..who would you sign as a GM??????

Of couse you’d sign Peyton Manning…….DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. Elite Vita Says:

I do love winning but at the very least Jameis is entertaining. Let us not forget that prior to Jameis we were hardly able to “push” the ball downfield. How boring! Now of course, the turnovers are outrageous but if we are going to replace him with yet another QB that is truly hapless we probably will still lose and be bored to boot. Saying all that it sure was funny to read that he scores for botH teams. Go Jameis and go Bucs!

  5. Alanbucsfan Says:

I could see Jameis with Gruden in Vegas if Bucs dont lock him up

  6. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Infact, I’ve heard this plenty of times during Peyton Manning’s carrer…..comments like

“Peyton Manning is essentially a second HC on the team, but he’s playing on the field as a QB”

Go back and watch a full colts game with Peyton Manning being in league for awhile…..

#1 He changes the play at the line of scrimmage very often

    #2 Deadly accurate

    #3 Smart passer

    #4 Smart on field awareness

All these traits are not in Jameis…………sorry Jameis, you’re not even close.

  7. Joseph Mamma Says:

Hilarious comparing QB’s basically from different era’s.

But if you must: Manning led the NFL with most touchdown passes and yards (4413) his 3rd year in the league. He had 33 TD’s with just 15 picks.

Like O’hara says in the video: NFL QB play on average has improved mightily over the years so this direct comparison doesn’t exist.

  8. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Joseph, I refer you to the following: Trubisky, Mayfield, Bortles, Goff, Wentz, Rozen, etc. There a plenty of QBs in this league who still struggle. Some even looked good for a season. I would say that even if we had the #1 overall pick Burrows would be a huge gamble and the same goes for Tua, albeit maybe a bit less because his draft stock has dropped with the injury. If you think finding a guy who can replace the guy leading the league in yardage and TDs you are simply wrong.

  9. Brandon Says:

I think the Bucs D is going to victimize the Lions. They’ll take away Blough’s running game and start blitzing him the second he steps into the stadium. Kenny Golladay is a good big WR but he’s not shifty or fast like the WRs that have killed us this season. He’s a poor man’s Mike Evans. I think they’ll do a good job on him and force the Lions into some errors.

  10. OneBuc55 Says:

Love him or hate him, Winstons our guy…

Who are we gonna replace him with??

I doesn’t matter ultimately because 2/3rds of the Bucs fanbase will always find something negative to whine and complain about…

Besides if Winston was smart he’d high tail it outta Tampa on the first thing smoking…2 very possible landing spots if he leaves would most likely be Oakland or New England…I personally would love to see him in Grudens west coast offense…

For those Bucs fans that hate ground Winston walks on, be careful what you wish for…

    Anthem–

Your “duh” comment bears repeating, only because your comment is based heavily on fait accompli.
Sure, anybody would take Manning if they knew what career lay ahead. However, if that was an unknown, I’m not so sure. If you had the wherewithal to look it up you’d find that Manning had 100 interceptions after his first five years.
Jameis has 81 with three games to go. Do the math.
Here’s a hint; next time you’re in search of an analogy, make it analogous. It makes it so much more interesting for the reader.
In the meantime you are indeed an ineffable dullard …

  12. TexBuc Says:

No worries Winston will be under center next season. Looking forwarding to extending our winning streak to 4 today.

  13. Dapostman Says:

Would Winston’s #’s be better if he had a Marshall Faulk or Edgerin James in the backfield to throw the ball to? You know the answer.

  14. ncbucsfan Says:

Thank you @Dapostman!!!! Faulk for a year and Edgerrin James!! Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne!!

  15. ou812 Says:

This one scares me too ! Because we are starting Winston with him starting the other team always has a chance !
