Who Was Dirk Koetter Talking About?

November 21st, 2019

Last laugh?

Yep, this is Dixie Chicks week. Which technically will be played in December.

The Dixie Chicks are a bad team that has played good ball the past two Subdats, and they’re one of three teams with a losing record the Bucs will face in their final six (actually facing Atlanta twice).

And you know what? The Bucs have to finish the season .500, winning no less than three of their remaining six games to have a better record than the past two years when, under Dirk Koetter, the Bucs finished 5-11.

Joe doesn’t think Team Glazer went through all this trouble and cost to lure Bucco Bruce Arians out of retirement to have the same record — or worse — than Koetter had the past two seasons.

And since Joe brought up Koetter, Joe wonders who Koetter was talking about Monday.

Now offensive coordinator of the Dixie Chicks, Koetter talked about facing the Bucs for the first time since he was dismissed as head coach on the night of the final Bucs’ game of 2018.

It seems Koetter would not be fond of a reunion with at least one person connected to the Bucs.

“The worst part of any game is that two hours waiting at the stadium before the game,” Koetter said. “Obviously, you see some people that you are fond of and maybe some that you are not.”

Of course, right away people tried to connect the dots and thought Koetter was calling out America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. Koetter said he has no issues with Jameis. Koetter also remarked that the Bucs (Team Glazer) have a wonderful organization.

Could it possibly be that Koetter still suffers from PTSD over the horrid kickers he had to deal with in his three seasons as Bucs coach? How many wins did those stiffs cost Koetter and the Bucs?

Dirk Koetter is a class act and should still be the HC of the Bucs but……

Instead….we have Grandpa Smurf and his OC Adult Babyface Gary Coleman

  2. tmaxcon Says:

hold your head high Mr. Koetter outside of Sapp and Gruden’s glory year NO coach has ever contended in Tampa. just pretenders…. you were lucky to escape the black-hole at that is Tampa bay buccaneer football…

  3. VA Tom Says:

    Licht

  4. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Definitely dummy licht…..guy picking players for no rhyme nor reason for kotters football team

  5. D-Rome Says:

Clearly it’s Backstabbin’ Jason Licht. Licht has a dagger on display in a glass case in his office that has the dried blood of both Lovie Smith and Dirk Koetter. It serves as a reminder for Bruce Arians every time he walks into Licht’s office.

  6. zzbuc Says:

Respect forever Coach Koetter….You are a classy true gentleman and will always wish you the very best, except when you play against the BUcs…….

  7. Petty Officer Buc Says:

Most likely the Glorified college scout know as Jason Licht who is masquerading as a GM and will throw anyone and everyone under the bus to save his job.

  8. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

It’s Winston. He remains THE most polarizing player in Buc history. And there can be no debate on that issue.

  9. Bobby M. Says:

Good coach who was neutered via an incompetent GM and talent-less roster. Fans and media demanded Smith be fired….then Koetter….yet here we sit with another accomplished coaching staff that cant do jack with the team that we have. The GM sucks…..Licht may have a role in the NFL but its not the head guy. He’s had plenty of time to field a competitive team…..he cant even put that on the field for the fans. He’s had 5 yrs to do something with Winston, he still sits twisting in the wind and Winston will likely walk. Folks bashed the Cardinals for drafting Rosen then Murray….you know what….the Cardinals got something back for Rosen and now have a legit franchise QB. They bashed Gruden for unloading Mack and Cooper….guess what, they now are in the playoff hunt. Mr “No Risk It, No Biscuit” says a lot of cute things but doesn’t have the balls or vision to build a winner.

  10. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

Ahhhh, upon further review (I was thinking players only), Licht is probably the correct answer. Mea Culpa!

  11. Kobe Faker Says:

“Who else but backstabbing no good Jason Gump!

I gave him a job and 2 years later I’m surrounded by corn stalks”

    Love Smith

  12. BigHog Says:

Bobby ….Coack K had his chance and Coach Lovie had his chance…why you not willing to give BA his chance??

  13. tmaxcon Says:

I gave him a job and 2 years later I’m surrounded by corn stalks”

    Love Smith

Even the corn are embarrassed by bad character lovie smiths performance in the corn fields. think of all the young mens lives that have been ruined by loser lovie and the family plan….

  14. 813bucboi Says:

im thinking JW, rojo and licht…..

    he said “some people”

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  15. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I’m thinking Demar Dotson is a prime candidate……perhaps Casey Phillips…..

  16. SB Says:

What the heck is a ‘Subdat’?

    Proofread maybe?

  17. Tye Says:

Having just played the Saints and the Panthers back to back, the Falcons did not allow a single touchdown in either game and attacked the QB at will…

Since shifting coaches around the Falcons have look much improved, especially on defense and I expect Sunday to be another long day for the Bucs..

    Falcons 34
    Bucs 12

  18. Bobby M. Says:

@BigHog…..I think all of them are competent, I believe BA is a good coach. Lovie, Koetter, Smith, BA, Bowles…..they’ve all accumulated solid NFL resumes. You know who hasnt?…..Licht. The dude has never actually done anything and his one time as a GM has been a colossal failure. The logical conclusion for me is that BA didn’t suddenly forget how to run a team or offense…..Bowles didn’t suddenly forget how to scheme. The reality is the roster is awful due to a GM that’s never had any vision or ability to complete a competitive roster. The fact Koetter was able to pull out one 9-7 season when everyone else are not even close, tells me A) Koetter was a good coach and B) overall the issue isn’t coaching its the roster. That’s all on Licht and that’s who i think Koetter is referring to.

  19. Adrnagy Says:

Good coach. Not a good head coach. Tom late he realize the hole he was in with def coach smith and Licht bad draft. Coach Koetter should of put his foot down after the 9-7 season instead he opted to play friends emo.

  20. Adrnagy Says:

Bruce is lay back. Golf cart cruising thinking his ppl or coaches will get it done.

  21. SappAttack Says:

    He’s talking about your mom.

  22. Adrnagy Says:

It seems. Coaches don’t have say on the players. I mean A coach should own the responsibility on the team result. If a player doesn’t work out either is not smart or is not productivity the coach should release him. Here in Tampa it seems they can’t do that. It feels it’s up to Licht. We saw it with Noah Spence. Now Spence got release by redskins. It took what one month to move on and us the Bucs what 2-3 yrs. ?

  23. Loyaltotheend Section 312 Says:

Dirk was the best post Gruden hire they made

He’s gonna smoke this team for at least 40

BA is gonna have to ride his golf cart back to Tampa

  24. Iamabuc Says:

How times change….a year ago; these same pages were filled with comments from most of you all calling for this guy’s head…here you all are praising him and feeling sorry for him….lol…it’s a Bucs life!!….🤥

  25. FanO’Bucs Says:

    This organization fails.

    Careers die with the Bucs.

    Losing org.

  26. Danny Says:

Funny how little has changed with a “Veteran” coach over Koetter… We need to remove Licht at this point and start over at QB, RB(keep rojo as #2), LT, RT, FS, and CB1. Try to keep the rest at a reasonable cost and JPP at all costs b/c we need his leadership.

  27. Marlow1976 Says:

I believed in DK. I did not want him to be let go. Reflecting… DK seems to be a much better game day coach than BA and a better OC than Leftwich. Those of you that that thought Mike Smith was incompetent … well the defense as a whole is still very, very bad even with a new scheme. All the new DC has done is concentrate his efforts on stopping one facet of the opponents game. Do not let the numbers and rank vs. the run fool you into thinking the defense has gotten better. Statistically we are ranked 23 of 32 as a defensive unit. We are giving up something like 370 yds per game and 30+ points. We ended the 2018 season in the 380 yds per game range and 29 points per. We need better players… not new coaches every few years. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result… Morrris, Schiano, Smith, Koetter, Arians… and we all expect them to give us another result. It’s the roster and the organization, not coaching.

  28. BFFL Says:

Licht is an incredible snake. I guarantee you he’s in with the Gboys right now throwing BA under the bus.

  29. Nick2 Says:

Hey I liked Koetter as a person hes a good man but maybe too good in that he didnt fire his longtime friend Mike Smith. Not seeing talent in Rojo also really in my mind was a huge miss. Perhaps you can throw that on Licht for not having a good run blocking line but still the talent was there. If you take Koetters word Rojo was a wasted draft pick and thats obviously not the case. Hey where is Jeremy McNichols now??? He got the same treatment maybe he had talent too.

  30. Nick2 Says:

Hey Joe maybe you can get video of whether Koetter and Licht shake hands and what that meeting looks like????? Will it be a charade or a genuine friendship. You have to think Licht may in fact be exactly who Koetter is talking about.

  31. Buczilla Says:

Seems like a nice guy, but he was not a good head coach and I’m glad he’s gone. Now it’s time to let Winston and especially Licht go too. I have nothing personal against either one but they are not good at their jobs and I’m tired of watching them fail nearly every year. Time for some new blood.

  32. Mike Johnson Says:

Benedict Arnold Jason LICHT Will probably end up stabbing Arians in the back just like he did Koetter. Koetter would have won several more games had he just fired his rod-dog Smitty really early on. Look to see Jameis on his butt early and often against these falcons. And also lookout for a Slaughter by the Falcons.

  33. 99.97.92.55.47.40.28.20.7 Says:

    Maybe it’s Joe!!!!!

  34. soggy Says:

in a interview with arians the other day he was asked why he thinks the falcons are turning it around and arians said player intensity and some coaching changes and matt ryan is playing well. my question is what are we doing at the bottom of the division you big dummy?

  35. Dewey Selmon Says:

    Most likely Jenna Laine.

“Obviously, you see some people that you are fond of and maybe some that you are not.”

What a classless thing to say.
Proves again he is not and was not head coach material.

“hold your head high Mr. Koetter outside of Sapp and Gruden’s glory year NO coach has ever contended in Tampa. just pretenders…”

Apparently you don’t think Dungy competed. He only made it the the NFC Championship and to the playoffs (multiple times).

  39. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I’m guessing the people he does not care to see are the bandwagon fans…

  40. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Mike Johnson Says
“Benedict Arnold Jason LICHT Will probably end up stabbing Arians in the back just like he did Koetter.”

You mean like the media and most of the fans here did?

  41. Go Bucs 72 Says:

Hes probably talking about Casey Phillips because of all the hard hitting questions she asked him on his radio show.

  42. gilhealy Says:

I’m guessing it’s someone in the media.

  43. Bryan Says:

He is talking about you Joe!

  44. The Ghost of Leeman Bennett Says:

Bucs are going to get rolled on Sunday, I think we all know that.
