More JPP Doesn’t Mean Less Nassib

October 23rd, 2019

Usage detailed.

Could Jason Pierre-Paul suit up for the first time this season? No one really knows.

Today Bucco Bruce Arians raved about how well JPP practiced. Tomorrow will be a “big day” for JPP, he said, to determine how well he withstood a full practice for the first time since returning from the reserve/non-football injury list.

Once JPP returned and started practice, which he did last Wednesday, it kicked in a clock counting down 21 days JPP can be with the team without counting against the 53-man roster. Also within that same 21-day window, JPP can be activated at any time.

Now if JPP is both activated and plays at Nashville, someone will see less playing time. Some have speculated that would be Carl Nassib.

Not so fast, said Arians. JPP playing doesn’t mean Nassib sits on the bench slopping up Gatorade.

“That’s the beauty of Carl – he’s very position-flexible,” Arians said. “He can play inside [or] outside, as JPP can, and we’ve played Shaq [Barrett] off the ball some, so it’s fun toys to play with when you start rushing the passer and you have that many guys.”

Well, the Bucs need all the help they can get rushing the passer from anyone not named “Shaq Barrett.” It is sort of an all-hands-on-deck situation.

And if the rotten pass defense is still coughing up 300 yards a game with the Bucs getting heat on Ryan Tannehill, well, then we know who to blame, don’t we?

Good for everyone! Keep the rush fresh and mixed.. win win

If JPP plays it will be close to a miracle……We need to be absolutely certain that not only is he healthy enough but he is ready for live football…..don’t need to risk further injury.

  4. Snook Says:

Tannehill is going to poop down our throats this weekend. Especially with Turnover Jameis in the building.

“And if the rotten pass defense is still coughing up 300 yards a game if the Bucs are getting heat on Ryan Tannehill, well, we know who then to blame, don’t we?”

Jameis Winston, right? It’s got to be him or Obama.

@Joe … “And if the rotten pass defense is still coughing up 300 yards a game if the Bucs are getting heat on Ryan Tannehill, well, we know who then to blame, don’t we?”

Kinda depends on who starts in the Secondary, doesn’t it Joe? I’m still in favor of starting ALL our youngsters … Davis, Dean (if healthy), SMB, Whitehead & Edwards (if healthy), with Ryan Smith in there IF he outplays any of the other CBs, and Andy Andrews or D Stewart in there IF they outplay any of the other Safeties.. Sit VHIII & MJ Stewart. Why waste valuable game-time on players who don’t perform.

  7. ITS ABOUT TIME !! Says:

the season is over …. we have less than a 5% chance of making the playoffs …. jaymiss doesnt desrve the money he is making now…. let alone a new contract….

Byron Leftwich is Trump with Blackface”

  9. NPRSageBoy Says:

JPP and Barrett are trade bait. If they play well and the Bucs lose, as expected, they will be shipped to the highest bidders starting Sunday night.

That’s what 1 year deals buy a bottom feeder franchise.

  10. Bogiedr Says:

If JPP plays, it’s a plus. Should unleash Shaq. Still need to tade for a CB. Send Trashgraves to the Broncos for Chris Harris or to Arizona for Patrick Peterson. Shoot the Jets may be willing to trade Trumain Johnson. Hell Jenoris Jenkins is an upgrade. Trashgraves and a second round pick next years draft!
Burrows, Herbert or Fromm in first round. Bench “Americas quarterback, Pro bowler” Jameis Winston and make sure RG4 IS your backup. Gabbert is garbage and should be cut. Otherwise, cut Byron!!! Sorry B.A. you get to call plays!!!

  11. Beligerentbuc Says:

Bucs will win vs Ten and Ari and get back to .500!

    Go Bucs!

  12. Iamabuc Says:

Call me a silly optimist if you want, but I have a feeling Arians hasn’t shown all his cards yet, and there’s still chance..we haven’t had all our weapons in the field together yet. Yes, I still believe!!..Always Go Bucs!!

  13. Pewter power Says:

It should mean less because nassib is just a guy who could probably be easily replaced with Anthony Nelson. I’m worried about licht and BA because I could easily see them being dumb enough to sign nassib to a big contract and let barrett walk since we go the cheap route

  14. ElioT Says:

The only Bucs D-Line & OLB/DE players under contract past 2019

    1.) Vita Vea | 2020 Cap Hit: $4,042.974
    2.) William Gholston | 2020 Cap Hit: $4,750,000
    3.) Anthony Nelson | 2020 Cap Hit: $778,020
    4.) Pat O’Connor | 2020 Cap Hit: $660,000

    TOTALLY STACKED!!!

Starters: Barrett, Suh, JPP, Nassib will absolutely NOT re-sign with the Bucs unless they are drastically overpaid.

Quality FAs will absolutely NOT sign with Tampa unless they are drastically overpaid.

Let that sink in for a minute…

At least the horrible secondary is loaded with premium draft picks on the cheap for years to come.

Jason Licht should be fired immediately.

Unless multiple players turn it up a notch for the next 10 games, this team is on a freight train for a complete rebuild and we, the fans are in for another serious stretch of garbage football.

I really hope I’m wrong, because this is so depressing.

Belligerent Buc. Are you forgetting that game in Seattle, or are you calling it a tie?

  16. ElioT Says:

As far as I can tell the Bucs have 26 players with contracts expiring after 2019, not including VH3 who I’d bet is done in Tampa. **12 of them are starters or have started a game this year.

They’ll need to find (resign, sign or draft) 26 players for 2020.

Give #lichtmyba**ls track record, that should only take about 15 years…

How fun it must be to be a fan of an even halfway decent NFL team?

We all have our differences on this site, but no matter what, we don’t deserve this crap. Pretty sure I’ve never seen a time in my 30+ years of watching this team where things have looked less hopeless.

Can someone give me directions for the skyway?

  17. Steven007 Says:

Pewter, we haven’t gone the cheap route since the few years that the Glazers lost money during the housing crisis. Come on now.

  18. Boltsfan17 Says:

Nassib has shown nothing. Exactly why the Browns cut the former 3rd pick.

  19. unbelievable Says:

and we, the fans are in for another serious stretch of garbage football.

So…. basically same as always lol?

  20. Pewter power Says:

They go threw cheap route every year they value draft picks that don’t produce over veterans. It’s all lovies fault for playing madden for a year and dreaming up a roster
