Howard, Brate And Dotson Sit Out Practice

October 30th, 2019

UPDATED: The injury bug is back at One Buc Palace.

O.J. Howard is nursing a hamstring that kept him out of Sunday’s game. Cameron Brate was last player out of the Bucs locker room after the Titans game and made a slow, head-down walk to the team bus at the stadium. At 34-years-old, Demar Dotson is trying to make it to the season finish line without missing another game.

All three of those big-name Buccaneers did not practice today, per Bucco Bruce Arians.

Arians was adamant during his chat this week on Buccaneers.com that the way to win in Seattle, where the Bucs play next, is to run the football effectively. And Arians knows all about the Seahawks after his five seasons playing them in the NFC West.

If tight ends Brate and Howard can’t go, that’s likely a hit to the rushing attack.

UPDATE: The official injury report says Brate has a ribs issue and Dotson is nursing a hamstring.

Time for Auclair & Hudson to step up…….

The way to win in Seattle is not to run effectively….it’s to not turn it over and to cause multiple turnovers…..

And….to score more points than they do…..”Simple as that”….

  2. Pewter power Says:

Brate block in the run game lol ok…..well the run game is nonexistent if ya haven’t been watching. Theres a reason Winston is throwing so much and the dumb game planning of leftwich is only a small part of it

They put Chincy on IR and brought a TE Leggett up from the PS

  4. Petty Officer Buc Says:

Who is that player wearing 84? Does he play for the Buccaneers?

  5. Buc50 Says:

Take the L and wait for the draft

  6. Bucnjim Says:

So every coach since 2008 has had dumb play calling OR the two QBs we’ve had for the past 10 years are the ones lacking the intelligence?

  7. Pelbuc61 Says:

season is over thanks to Licht’s roster. No Oline, no Dline, no DBs, no RBs, No QB, no depth, overpaid players and salary cap issues. Other than that, great job Jasón!

  8. Doctor Stroud Says:

If Howard and Brate can’t go, the Bucs are relying on Antony Auclair, who leads all Tight Ends in the NFL with 8 penalties for 64 yards. And, he’s not even a starter!

you know damn well if that sorry lot is consider Big Names your roster sucks!!!!!

  10. jmarkbuc Says:

So if the TE’s aren’t gonna be used to catch passes, why not just put an extra OL or two in the game?

If I were OJ I’d be pissed too. He plays TE not Tackle.

  11. Bucnjim Says:

    Pelbuc61
Well I will agree but we do have 1/2 an O line, half a DLine, 1/2 a RB committee, a PRO BOWL WR Corp, an above average TE duo, and a pretty good coaching staff. So what’s the problem? Turnovers you can’t win with them you can’t win without getting them.

  12. Allbuccedup Says:

Should have unloaded one of these injury prone TEs yesterday.

  13. The Cory Says:

    Rushing attack. Seriously?

  14. unbelievable Says:

    @Bucnjim

I hate to break it to you, but we’ve had 5 different starting QBs since 2008…

  15. Bucnjim Says:

Only two were considered franchise QBs so whats your point? The players were very excited to have Fitz as QB even though he wasn’t the long term answer. Told me everything I needed to know about who should have been out last year.

  16. Bobby M. Says:

Dotson is at the end…..Cant blame him though for continuing to collect whatever checks the Bucs are willing to pay him. Why the GM thought a RT that is okay in pass blocking, below avg in run blocking and old….was going to be reliable in any capacity is puzzling but that’s our GM in a nutshell.

I really believed Dominick was about as clueless as they come, but Licht takes the cake. Dominick was equally terrible at shaping a roster but at least the dude could manage the cap. He was actually pretty innovative in that regard. Licht is terrible at everything. He has no vision, he’s simply mimicking what he believes someone else would do.

An oLd cowboy sitting on a stool in a run down Tampa bar sings in a sad voice,”the party’s over my friends-thought it would never end —-so turn out the Licht”!!!!!

  18. jmarkbuc Says:

    @down in the dirt doug..

Might as well go full Dandy Don, and the lyrics are spot on…

    Turn out the lichts
    The party’s over
    They say that all
    Good things must end
    Call it a night
    The party’s over
    And tomorrow starts
    The same old thing again

    Great Post.

“He has no vision, he’s simply mimicking what he believes someone else would do”

I thought he just had a dart board with pictures on it, lots of D III pictures.

Hangin’ in the office, wearing his flops and sippin’ a brew, tossing darts.

I’m starting to believe that Jasón Light hasn’t done a very good job. Does anyone agree?

  21. jmarkbuc Says:

The Jameis1of1 or whatever it’s called, is interesting in a grassy knoll, Zapruder film sorta way.

Surely he couldn’t be THAT Daft.

  22. NPRSageBoy Says:

It’s Tuesday, is Perriman still on the roster?

If so, what are they waiting for?

    Peace, out

  23. Allbuccedup Says:

As long as Jason Licht “bulb” is running team it will be crap.5-11Jason they call him.

  24. SteveK Says:

    Jmarkbuc,

Agree with you I believe it really could be Licht. I dismissed it at first, but there are some interesting component. I hope it gets verified.

If it is Licht, and is verified, I can’t wait for Joe’s reaction.

  25. jmarkbuc Says:

    SteveK

Beginning to hope it’s true…maybe we can scandal his way outta here…

    “no Dline”

That’s a crock. Suh. Vea. JPP. Barrett.

    Those are some top players.

  27. Son of Kobe Faker Says:

    “Brate is retired already

He has the 7 mill this year and waiting for the games to be over with

No team wants this stiff and he will be out of the league and will soon startup a hedgefund”

If you knew your employer was closing up shop in a few weeks, would you jump out of bed to go in?

  29. jjbucfan Says:

NPR- I laughed yesterday at the Perriman post and I laughed today. I don’t agree with you about JW3 and that is okay, THIS, I think we can all agree on. He cut Bobo after a fumble on a punt, but Licht refuses to cut this joker. 2 or 3 teams cut his sorry ass, but Licht was going to be the one who fixed him, lol. At 3+ million a year. That would be a pretty good backup G,C,or RT

Was anyone else watching? Brate got hurt. Looked like his surgically prepared hip. He ain’t going nowhere

  31. Hodad Says:

I’m sure if Dotson can’t go the next man up can give up sacks, and holding penalties just as well. Since OJ, and Brate have been non factors all season they might as well stay home. Matter of fact, just stay home, the whole team. Tell the NFL just give us the L this week we need time to get right for AZ the following week. Next week is the season. Even if we win it’s over, but if we lose, it’s REALLY OVER. Lose to another rookie QB, with a first time HC at your own house. That might get the Glazers thinking, if they still are watching themselves.
