“I Don’t Think They’ll Win Any More Games Than They Will With Fitzpatrick”

October 4th, 2018

Likely the busiest national NFL analyst in the game is a very astute Ivy League grad who played seven years in the NFL.

Ross Tucker is just about everywhere, a weekday host on SiriusXM NFL radio, local Eagles broadcasts, sideline reporter for Monday Night Football radio, and he’s got a wildly popular podcast in addition to calling college football games for CBS television.

Tucker hopped on WDAE-AM 620 this week and talked plenty of Bucs.

Joe, who is a Tucker fan, was taken back by Tucker believing the benching of Ryan Fitzpatrick was/is a questionable move by Dirk Koetter.

This especially stood because Tucker often takes a locker room/player’s mindset and he thinks Fitzpatrick got an almost unfair hook for making only a small handful of mistakes through 3 1/2 games. Do Bucs players feel the same way? That wouldn’t be ideal.

But what really made Joe do a double take and type this post was Tucker essentially saying that switching to America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, is of no appreciable value.

“The scary thing is, and we’ll see it play out, I don’t think they’ll win any more games than they will with Fitzpatrick. And if that’s the case, why would you give Jameis over $20 million?” Tucker said.

Joe can’t believe Tucker really thinks Fitzpatrick is on par with Jameis when it comes to being an impact starter through a season. C’mon. However, Tucker is not alone.

The Vegas oddsmakers, as some fans might remember, felt the same way. In June, when Jameis was suspended for the first three games of the season, most Vegas wins-losses lines on the Bucs went unchanged at 6.5 games.

Thankfully, Jameis can make all this wacky chatter disappear by playing well and putting the Bucs on his back a few times through the final 12 games. And if Jameis can play cornerback, that would help, too.

  1. Some Guy’s Burner Says:

The national media is hip to what the media in FLA should have seen years ago — Winston is not an elite NFL QB. He makes the same dumb throws he did as a rookie, has poor ball placement, and generally doesn’t elevate his team.

Great college QB, but doesn’t have the skill set needed in today’s NFL. Look how much better Mahoney looks right this instant by comparison.

  2. LakeLand Says:

Fitz was 2-2, so Jameis has to go 7-5 to please the fans

  3. Stravenite Says:

Totally agree, Fitz pulling was unjustified and the team looked no better with JW at the helm, he better bring his A game or this one is in the books and he will be part of the clearout that is coming.

Licht will be the only survivor and has provided talent which has not been used, I wonder if Monken will call the game in Atlanta, if the first play is a run up the gut then you know the rest !.

  4. Greg Says:

Hes right! Jameis is the next Jay Cutler. Strong arm but turnover prone his whole college and pro career. The Buccaneers CAN NOT RESIGN HIM!!! The staff will be fired the Monday following the season. No new coach or GM candidate will come here if they are attached to sex offender, interception throwing, fumbling, human garbage, fan base dividing Winston.

  5. Buc1987 Says:

Lakeland…are you new here or something?

Jameis has to go undefeated and throw 400 yards every game.

  6. Greg Says:

The ONLY reason Fitz was benched for Winston is because Jason Light is still trying to justify drafting him and save his job while totally throwing Koetter under the bus.

  7. Buc1987 Says:

Stravenite…how much ya wanna bet ALL three will be fired at the end of the season if they finish under 9 wins?

Including…. Jason I Miss A Lot More Than I Hit Licht.

  8. BringBucsBack Says:

I concur with Tucker here. Why is Fitz benched?…the Bucs want to see if Jameis is worth all of that money, in the future? If they don’t win now, this regime won’t be here to matter & Jameis prob won’t be either.

I sure hope Jameis has been working on his deep throws, accuracy, defensive reads & mutism.

  9. Buc1987 Says:

Greg…Fitz is a back up……..I’m sorry you bought that fake beard.

Put Fitz on the trade block today!

No one WILL call……well maybe Greg might call…but he’s not a GM.

That’s no one Greg. If some team does call and we get a pick….he go onto shine and star on some other team just as he’s done his whole career. I’m sure he’ll light it up wherever he goes.

  10. LakeLand Says:

    Buc1987

The way I see it, Fitz won half of his games

That’s not saying much for a starting QB

Jameis don’t have to run the table to better that

  11. R.O. Says:

First of all… unless the Defense gets to be average they won’t win more than 6 or 7. Just a fact.. D blew minimum 4 games last year.

  12. Buc1987 Says:

I tried to explain this to you people weeks ago. You wouldn’t except it then and certainly won’t now. Okay again…..here we go.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is a back up QB for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jameis Winston is the starting QB for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

    Repeat after me……

    Okay one more time….

Ryan Fitzpatrick is a back up QB for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jameis Winston is the starting QB for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Let it sink in and hope he doesn’t grab YOUR crotch too!

    Must reading for Buc fans:
    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/oct/04/glazers-manchester-united

  15. Rod Munch Says:

With this defense unless you’re scoring 40 points a game then it won’t matter who is at QB (and no QB is gonna average 40 points a game). Also when you have a head coach who punts from the opponents 36 in a shootout, you’re not going to put up 40 points a game on average.

  16. Bucsfanman Says:

It’s put up or shut up, plain and simple! Jameis is the only one who can put this to rest.
He’s the “better” QB right?! So….
    Get ’em Jameis!

  17. Buc1987 Says:

Lakeland…it’s the way I see it too….but that won’t matter anyways.

  18. Buc1987 Says:

Bucsfanman….yup, but it won’t shut up for the next 10 days. Thanks Joe.

  19. Lord Cornelius Says:

    Cool story Tucker. Super edgy

  20. LakeLand Says:

If the Bucs really wanted competition for Jameis, they would have traded for Teddy Bridgewater. The fans should understand, the Bucs are going all in with Jameis. Even Dirk Koetter said that Jameis will be here, when he is gone. I usually avoid the Jameis chat, because the Bucs made up their minds long ago.

That Jameis is their franchise QB

  21. LakeLand Says:

    These are Koetter words

“Jameis Winston is the guy who’s going to be here way longer than I am,” Koetter said. “So, he needs to be out there playing and he will be unless he gets hurt.”

This is coming from the Head Coach

It’s pointless to even debate about the Bucs QB position

There is no controversy, Jameis Winston is the starter and the future

  22. Dom is gone Says:

Bucs and Lakeland… Jamies does not need to go undefeated!!! .500 football would be nice! Say what you want but loser Fitz has a better winning % with the same personal than you BOY does.??????? Think about that

  23. Conte Piscatelli Says:

So he says wins, at no point does he say Fitz would play better than Jameis. Remember this is a team sport and with the circus we trot out as a defense at wins won’t likely be decided by the play of our quarterback.

  24. Oneilbucs Says:

I say trade Winston let him win somewhere else. Then we will draft another quarter back and hope he is good why Winston will go win somewhere else. I hope they answer you Winston haters request. If they trade him he go win somewhere else while we lose I’m telling you right now I’m going to laugh at this hold fan base and the haters. I hope they really trade Winston now .

  25. BucEmUp Says:

Why don’t we have a run game? Because we are always throwing the ball. Why are we always throwing the ball? Because we know we cannot prevent the other teams from scoring at will. Why can’t we keep other teams from scoring at will? Because the coaching staff like to eat boogers during film sessions and refuse to make adjustments.

Its actually gotten contagious. Now the offense is starting to show the inability to adjust. I am starting to believe this is Koetter trying to get fired and walk away with the money. It doesn’t matter who the qb is. Trade for Patrick Monhomes and watch the losses continue.

  26. Buc1987 Says:

LakeLand…..yup, but of course I can’t avoid the chatter. It’s my boring life’s entertainment here in Port Richey.

You’re right the fans should understand….but as you can see some of them just don’t and won’t understand. They don’t even get why Jameis is back in there.

I swear some of them should just put a disclaimer at the top of every post that reads something like…..

Disclaimer : I never even wanted Jameis Winston as a Buc to begin with.

Cause they have no idea why Jameis is even back in there as the starter….I get it, even some of his haters get it…..but some….some…smh.

  27. Lamarcus Says:

Jw is a top 5 Qb. No doubt. He has to be the starter/ future. It will be dumb to think otherwise.

  28. BDorry Says:

Well, Jameis’ win percentage here is much worse than Fitz…so until he proves otherwise…

  29. LakeLand Says:

    Here’s some more from Dirk

Dirk Koetter was on vacation this summer when he got the call from general manager Jason Licht informing him that quarterback Jameis Winston would be suspended for the first three games of the season for violating the league’s player conduct policy.

The first thing Koetter did was take a look at the Bucs’ schedule.

“I saw that Pittsburgh was our third game on a Monday night,” Koetter said. “Chicago was our fourth game on the road, short week. So in the back of mind from that point on, I kind of had it in my head that (Ryan) Fitz(patrick) would start the first four games and Jameis would start in Atlanta (after the bye week) unless we were either playing lights out in a good way, or lights out like we did (Sunday) in a bad way.”

The fans has to accept the fact that Jameis Winston is the Bucs QB
The present starter as well as the future starter
These words are not coming from me, they are coming from the Head Coach

  30. What the buc Says:

I don’t really care what QB you put in there right now. Until this defense becomes at least average, they will not win. You can’t expect an offense to put up 40 or more points in every game. We can talk QB all we want, but if we have no defense it will not matter.

  31. GhostofSchiano Says:

Jameis like fitz will need to score at least 40 per game for a chance to sniff victory. Because this poor excuse of a defense is what will lose games this year.

  32. Bucnjim Says:

    If Jameis wins he’s Superman
    If Jamesis loses?
    It’s the Oline
    It’s the RB
    It’s the Dline
    It’s injuries
    It’s coaching
    It’s the GM
    It’s his age
Now setting it up to when he loses next it’s the CB’s

  33. Buc1987 Says:

What do you think the Bucs can get if they put Fitz on the trade block?

It’s a legit question for all of you…….

I say they get NOTHING…no calls.

Flip it…. and if they put JW up on the trade block…..will the phone ring?

I say the phone DOES ring for Jameis. What can they get for Jameis? Idk…you tell me, but the phone will ring. Offers WILL come in NOW even before the 12 games. Just curious cause I’ve seen certain peeps say no team would want him.

    Be honest with yourselves.

  34. Bucnjim Says:

After that it will be the President of the U.S.

  35. Doctor Stroud Says:

Regardless of who the QB is, the Bucs are not going to win too many games with that defense.

  36. ATrain Says:

    N O E X C U S E S !!!!

  37. BigMacAttack Says:

I agree 100% with Tucker. He nailed it. Trade Winston and McCoy right now. They are not going to make you a better team. I don’t know why Licht didn’t go get Le’Veon Bell either. We are so done, everyone is getting fired and it’s back to the drawing board. Jason Licht, make a move! Do something! Anything! Bruh 😂😂😂

  38. Topcoach78 Says:

Joe this is gonna hurt your feelings so bad when it goes down like Ross said it will….smh can’t see the forest for the trees!

  39. Topcoach78 Says:

Jameis gonna hurt y’alls feelings so bad Ross is right and whoever thinks otherwise can’t see the forest for the trees including Joe! Smh

  40. Waterboy Says:

I said weeks ago that the Bucs had to stay with the hot hand even if it meant Winston sitting for the entire season but with that said we saw the old Fitz emerge once teams started putting pressure on him. I do agree that he was pulled quicker than you would expect but I think it’s pretty safe to say the Bucs already know that they have no plans to move forward with Fitz as anything more than a backup. As far as Winston the jury is still out as to whether he’s going to take the next step or remain an average QB and they’re not going to find out with him on the bench.

  41. SOEbuc Says:

    @Joe

Is this guy aware we’re on track to having the worst passing defense in history. Jameis can play and he’s getting better with age but when you’re down 5 TDs at halftime it’s hard for him to come back.

Fitzpatrick crumbles like cereal when the pocket collapses so they been sending blitzers by Bozo Benenoch every play.

They are going to give Jameis his money because they’ve already invested so much into him and they’re not gonna let go of their 24 year old pro bowl #1 pick QB based on how Koetter and Smith were coaching this team. Both K & S gone next year hopefully.

  42. LakeLand Says:

The Bucs defense could get better, the Saints defense has been better. They have won 3 straight games. They stunk the field against the Bucs in week one. That was one of the worst defensive performance I have ever witness. I know the Saints are scoring lots of points. But their defense gave up 48 in week one, it should been 60. They only gave up 73 points during their 3 game win streak. I know it’s a lot, but it gives your high scoring offense a chance to win.

There’s hope for the Bucs defense
I say they turn things around and give up 25 points a game, the rest of the way

  43. Darin Says:

Vegas had mike smith in mind, and rightfully so. If he got canned the line should move

  44. Buc1987 Says:

    ATrain….excuses from who?

My last name is not Glazer….anything I say on here as an excuse has no bearing on what they do with Jameis.

Your posts are always blaming of us (supporters) all the time and ultimatum like. We don’t have a say so. They could bench him tomorrow for Fitz and I can’t tell Bicmac that the next QB better work out or else….I could but why?

The defense and the DC both suck. That’s a fact. Not an excuse btw.

  45. Buc1987 Says:

Lake…they’ve got like 10 more days to fix it.

    Go Bucs!

  46. Bucs fan #7423 Says:

Defense is bad if Chris Conte and even worse with his backup playing

  47. LakeLand Says:

Mike Smith will turn this defense around and people will be eating their words.
There’s a lot of new faces on the Bucs defense

  48. LakeLand Says:

    Buc1987

They will get it right, I have confidence in Mike Smith

  49. SOEbuc Says:

    BigMacAttack

They should wipe out he entire coaching squad (except for Buckner) but Jameis isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Just signed Brate and Evans, Jameis top two targets, gigantic contracts. Not gonna draft a rookie round one or trade for a QB, we got much bigger problems. Every hour that goes by they are making a big, bad decision not to trade GMC. Or maybe they’re trying to but other teams don’t wanna pay his fat contract cus he’s soft as baby sh#t.

  50. DRFEELGOOD Says:

Fitz is the first QB to throw for 400 yards in 3 straight games. Jameis is the first QB to throw for over 4,000 in each of his first 3 SEASONS!!! Enough said. Fitz did a great job of holding down the fort as a good backup is needed to do. Anyone that can’t see the difference between the two is just not wanting to accept what they see. If we protect Jameis the way we did Fitz in the first 2 games, he will blow up, and I cannot wait to see it.

  51. ATrain Says:

    Yep Buc 1987

Just like you. Winston’s is Great

Look over here the Defense Sucks

You have been screaming Winston is the Best
Well now we know what the Offense can Do so let’s see how Winston does
Give up 30 points oh well
Winston should be able to score 50 if his backup can score 40

  52. ATrain Says:

    Also
Funny you know what I was talking about

  53. NPRSageBoy Says:

Let’s see how Jameis does. Three picks in one game and he’s benched. Fair is fair.

  54. small axe Says:

    taken aback joe

  55. Bird Says:

    Joe

If you can’t believe the fitz and Jameis comparison then don’t you think Jameis needs to do MORE then “put the team on his back and win a few games “?

That’s already been done… by Fitzpatrick. Remember the whole jersey being sent to hall of fame ?

With that said, I think this is the perfect game for Jamie’s to come back. Atlanta s defense is struggling right now and you know it will be a shootout so game on. 2 weeks to prepare for this one. No more excuses. Crucial point in season. We need everyone to ball out !

  56. Not there yet Says:

Stop smoking before taking to the airways tucker you just sound stupid

  57. Reach87 Says:

Team. What part of the NFL don’t you “fans” get? Put your TEAM together as best you can, coach them, call plays, make adjustments. Better execution from the pass defense (I didn’t say DBs) and we are 4-0 or at worst 3-1. Some of you are spring loaded to lament and cut somebody just because some moron who is not a coach, doesn’t see all of practice, doesn’t know the players or plays, and gets paid for clicks and controversy says something. Thought I’d never use the term “sheep” on this site because it’s so mid-used. But many of you are indeed sheepish in your lack of original thought. Sad. Go Bucs (the team).

  58. Sumo Says:

Tucker is right on. Jameis is not going to improve this team. In fact, it won’t be as good. He couldn’t play for many coaches in this league. Too many turnovers. Until all of us figure that out, we’ll have lost another season.

  59. Dom is gone Says:

Hmmmmm a few years back I sorta remember making a comment that GIVING the job to Dirk and him hiring his BUDDY as DC was a mistake. Same ass clowns ran Atlanta in the ground. Almost everyone including Joe lambasted me and they few that said the Glazers panicked with that hire. I don’t know if Jamies is the figure or not … no one does BUT no way he succeeds with this coaching staff ! Look what a coaching change did for Geoff!!!!!!

  60. Dom is gone Says:

    Future or not

  61. Bucsmarley Says:

Put up a poll who would win more games the rest of the season……Fitzpatrick or Winston

  62. LakeLand Says:

The Bucs defense isn’t as bad as people say they are. They had that bad game against the Bears. They played good against the Saints, they gave up points in garbage time. They were good against the Eagles. The team gave up 27 to the Steelers before the half. But how many of those points was on the defense? The offense did turn the ball over 4 times, including a pick 6. The offense also played bad against the Bears. I don’t think the defense deserves all of the hate. They haven’t been as bad as people claim.

  63. webster Says:

I love the fans who say jameis has so many ints. 1st ballot hall of famer drew bress has SEASONS with 14, 15, 17, 16, 22, 15, 18, 16, 15, 16ints etc many after his 3rd year in the nfl but they dont call brees a turnover machine. I wonder why? 87 can you help me with that? Are they fsu haters? Did they not winston in the 1st place? Or dare i say it could be skin related? I mean i really dont get it. Can anyone help me?

  64. Robert Says:

    Lol at 87

    You go boi

Give em hell they can’t talk bout your girl like that

  65. webster Says:

Joe really??!!??? Can u explain why every one of my comments are in moderation? Seriously. You called mike clayton a buffoon ie another fellow journalist but you are this sensitive about my post on sunday? Come on man

  66. Robert Says:

I been sayin the same thing he said since Sunday. They player want Fitz

here’s my new conclusion since we are trying out new QB’s.

I foresee a full blown JW meltdown in the next 2 games. We will lose badly and he will be exposed. From there he’s gone. If he doesn’t get hurt he will be traded, Fitz will start and put up points.

The defense will gell and we will make the playoffs. and have an extra 5th round pick for JW.

    write it down

  67. NJBucsFan Says:

I agree with him. I think Koetter lost the locker room when he pulled Fitz.

  68. Sweeptheleg Says:

No one in their right mind believes JW is a top 5 QB.

Lamarcus you are stupid if you believe that.

Only you stupid moronic blind as a bat FSU fans believe that nonsense.

If he’s so good why are their so many questions about his abilities?
If he was that good there would be no question at all on whether he will be resigned. The fact that there is a question that he may not be resigned after the clean out of this regime says all anyone needs to know.

However all you lame as s FSU fans will literally blame the dam n air or anything else before you put one ounce of blame on your lover boy.

He’s average at best. Maybe top 15. That’s it. You can only blame everyone else before it catches up to you.

If he was elite there wouldn’t be any question or any doubt at all.

You people are so stupid it’s baffling.

    AVERAGE

  69. Lamarcus Says:

    Sweep the leg

I don’t like college football. No fsu or any college junk in my world.

If you was all know it all then you should know that JW is just not your average Qb.
Average qbs wouldn’t survive this long on a historical losing team.

  70. Blue-footed booby Says:

Lamarcus, did you really just call Winston a top 5 quarterback? Hah that is just hilarious to read. Maybe you meant to say ‘top 5 FSU quarterback’ because he is sure as hell not a top 5 NFL quarterback in 2018, not even close. I can see it now, posters like Buc1987 and Lamarcus on here will blame the Bucs fan base for ruining Winston’s career when he doesn’t pan out like they think he will after leaving the Bucs organization.

Yup Topcoach78 I totally agree and I must say it’s almost makes me wish the Bucs bye week wasn’t until later in the season but oh well guess we’ll have to wait an extra week for people to see what Ross Tucker is saying. Seriously I would rather have Josh Rosen as our starting QB than Winston and Rosen was on the board when the Bucs were on the clock at 7th overall.

  71. Fartman Says:

I’d have a hard time giving Jameis 100 million dollars. I haven’t really seen a guy who can put a franchise in his back.

  72. James Walker Says:

The problem is with ownership. That is the only common denominator in the last 10+ years.

  73. NJBucsFan Says:

There are 5 QBs that had been drafted since Winston that are better QBs then he is…let alone including all the QBs in the NFL currently. The arguement is that Winston doesn’t have weapons, he doesn’t have an O-line, he doesn’t have a defense…true franchise QBs make the players around him better. They don’t need the best at every position to win

  74. Lamarcus Says:

Pay JW now. 155 million with about 120 guarantee if not….. We will regret. Don’t ever take advice from a hater so y’all sounds dumb as hell

    Pay the man now

  75. ATrain Says:

Yea another 100 million dollar soft serve ice cream cone

A Qb that cant make a top 16 lis

    Haha

I have to say something for you FSU fans y’all are loyal

I would pay him $10 and free uber

  76. NJBucsFan Says:

He’s San Bradford without as many injuries….

  77. Blue-footed booby Says:

Wow Lamarcus you would pay Winston an Aaron Rodgers type of contract? I honestly can’t tell if you’re serious or just trolling with that type of idea.

News flash: Aaron Rodgers >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Jameis Winston

Winston will never ever touch Rodgers stratosphere of level of quarterback play, period.

  78. Oneilbucs Says:

Webster 87 I can tell you why . It’s his skin color. Where Bret Farve threw a lot of picks they called him a gun slanger. Whe Andrew Luck throw ints it’s every body fault but his . When Elie Mannon for 5 years sucked they said he still young . Then they got a Superbowl defense and running game Now he’s a 2 time super bowl winer. Philip Rivers never played in a super bowl won 2 playoff games and he’s a hall of fame quarter back. Russell Wilson won a Superbowl it was the defense and running game that did not Wilson . Now people say he’s good after he loss all his good players. So do y’all think the national media or people on this site will not do the same. Donvann McNabb went to 5 champship in 1 super bowl you can’t name 1 good wr other then T.O but he’s not a hall of fame quarter back 1 mvp and many pro bowls . So I just brought up Facts . Jamies will be treated just like all the others. I show facts not emotions . That’s why they rather fizpatrick who played for 7 different teams and never played in a play off game. But that’s how it is .

  79. BigMacAttack Says:

So many ideas, so many options. I pretty much think every one of you guys could do a better job running this team right now. It’s that bad and I’m serious. They aren’t going to change anything. No firings. No trades. No Defense. And a good possibility if No Blocking. Haha, you guys are great. Good stuff.

  80. WillieG Says:

I don’t understand the Joes’ love for JW. He absolutely sucks. Yeah, he’s thrown for a lot of yards, but only because he has to in order to come back from the hole he put them in. He is a turnover machine.

The slow starts are on him too. It takes him a quarter to calm the F down and throw somewhat accurately. Do you really think the Bucs would have won the first two with Mr. Too Hyped- Overthrow Guy, Turnover Machine, Sex Offender?

Yes, the D sucks and has sucked for awhile, but even the best Bucs D can’t overcome repeated mistakes by the QB.

He needs to go. We need to trade him for a first round pick, keep Fitz, draft a non-sex offender with the 1st pick and let him sit for a year behind Fitz.

  81. Joe Says:

Oneilbucs isn’t wrong. Folks who don’t think that’s not an issue are living in a dream world.

Didn’t hear a peep about Zach Mettenberger copping a plea to sexual assault when he was starting for the Titans, did you? Wonder why?

  82. Lamarcus Says:

Pay him more than Rogers. It will be worth it

  83. Buc1987 Says:

Everyone calls Robert either a dummy or an idiot on a daily basis….

    Write it down.

  84. BigMacAttack Says:

I could care less about what Winston did almost 3 years ago. Stop throwing picks, late passes and just plain bad passes. Step up in the pocket. Get that clock in your head right. The Mack hit interception never should have happened. Maybe he’s rusty but his awareness is lacking and he so often misses seeing the open man. I’m over Winston solely by his performance on the field and what I saw Sunday. He sucked and being down by 5 TDs had nothing to do with his ability to play QB. Start Fitz and trade anyone who isn’t a receiver or named JPP.

  85. Buc1987 Says:

BigMac….you’ve got 12 games of Jameis coming to you.

    Enjoy.

  86. Buc1987 Says:

I’m sure the cameras will occasionally show Fitz on the sideline whenever Winston turns it over. Cause I heard he’s a turn over machine somewhere before…..

You’ll still get to see Fitzy!

  87. Greg Says:

Bucs1987 Every time I make a comment I usually add some rational points such as stats or explaining my issues with Jameis. If you disagree I respect that but try coming up with a reason why you disagree that doesnt sound like a 9 year old girl plugging her fingers in her ears crying I love Jameis, I love Jameis. WHY would our next coach want to pay 22 million a year to a guy that already got 2 coaches fired and leads the league in turnovers for 3 years and sexually assaults women? Make an actual case for it or just stay quiet while the grown ups are talking.

  88. BrianBucs Says:

With the defense being as bad as it is and the schedule being as hard as it’s been the first 4 weeks, the only reason that the Bucs are 2-2 is Fitz.Winston would have been 0-4 or possibly 1-3 at best. And the lockeroom knows it.
I’m sure that Koetter has gotten his orders from Jason Licht to get Winston in the games while the offense has been producing to try to justify his mistake of picking Winston #1 overall
Licht, Koetter, Smith and Winston all need to go

Jameis can’t hit DJax still. On the Phili TD, Fitz threw to Djax’s left a few yards so he could make a little break and move over and get it in stride. Winston isn’t that smart. Js

  97. Buc1987 Says:

Okay Greg Glazer I’ll make a case for it when you can tell me you call the shots for the team. Other than THAT!

12 games Greg. TWELVE GAMES OF JAMEIS WINSTON.

Okay adults….rant away over nothing you can do about….

Jameis is the starting QB for the next 12 games….continue to whine about it like adults do or like Greg does…..anybody got a pacifier?

  101. Lamarcus Says:

    Brian Buc

With the defense this bad…… You have established probowlers bbbbuuuuttttt you hold JW to an overwhelming standard. Hold these sorry vets that boast probowls and all pros who been in the game before JW was even born.

Im pissed at every vet -slip and slide Grimes, Quick first step into Oblivion GMC, Red Slo Glo just let the Jerry curl juice shine on your jersey Kwon, My greatest trait is my “smartness” LVD, Esmith, Dotson. They been around way too long to keep getting whooped on and to think they not tired of this? No

  102. Ndog Says:

So Bigmac you are cool with a QB that fades away and bounces or sails every pass where he gets pressure? Cause if so then you’re in luck cause Fitz is your man.

  103. Greg Says:

Ill say again SOME people would rather watch us lose with THE SEX OFFENDER THAN WIN WITH THE GUY WHO JUST BEAT THE DEFENDING SUPERBOWL CHAMPS AND MVP. BEAT THE SAINTS AT THEIR HOUSE AND GAVE US A CHANCE AGINST THE STEELERS. He had one bad quarter aginst a great defense and they pulled him. If Fitz was black and Winston was white there would be rioting!

  104. Buc1987 Says:

Greg…you can copy and paste your analysis of Jameis Winston daily.

It’s the same one every time.

12 games left to go. That’s my point.

That’s all I need to say. I’ll let ya know how things go the rest of the season.

He’s yet to really even start playing this season yet, and you wouldn’t even let him play to see how it turns out. We got your point. I want him to play the 12 games out. You don’t. I guess I need to break it down as to why for you….wtf for?

  105. Buc1987 Says:

    Greg…I find you sexually offensive.

Good points though. Your points are the best part of your posts.

I wish I had some points.

  106. Buc1987 Says:

Disclaimer : Greg never wanted Winston be a Buc to begin with.

  107. BigMacAttack Says:

I had a comment for 1987 12 games but misspelled a word that got filtered so it got canned. Basically if they keep blocking like they just did, Jameis won’t make it 12 games. I like brains and Fitz is really intelligent. Jameis not so much. I’d like to draft a qb. If you had L’bell it would make things easier. I would trade trade trade right now to load up on high picks. Hire a new GM and staff and build it up. Monken as interim head coach and find some guy at the Sali to be the DC. Anyone can do a better job.

Winston beat the saints last year. So what is your point? That jameis cant beat the saints? You are an idiot!!!! You talk as if fitz beat a team jameis could not/did not. Im not expecting any qb to score 48 pts in order to win. Since you think its all about fitz then why didnt he score 48 against the bears? Here is another question idiot, do you think trubisky will put up 6 tds every week? You probably do because you are an idiot!!!!

  111. webster Says:

Lakeland…are you new here or something?

Jameis has to go undefeated and throw 400 yards every game.

    ————-

Wrong, just win more than you lose. And if we do lose, then our QB needs to have a positive Touchdown:Turnover Ratio.

I agree with Ross Tucker about Jameis right now, but I am hopeful Jameis can put it all together this year.

His yards are cool, but what about taking care of the ball and winning games? We need to win games.

  117. Joel Says:

Winston will win the same amount of games as Fitz. Two. On the way to 4-12.

  118. webster Says:

    @ greg

Btw…jameis 1st win of his career came against the saints in their HOME TOWN. So again what is your point? Its definitely not that fitz did something jameis did/couldnt do right? Jameis swept the panthers one year removed from the panthers going to the super bowl while having the reigning mvp. Surely your weak argument is not that jameis isnt capable is it?

  119. BigMacAttack Says:

Haha if Jameis doesn’t throw over 400 yds per game they won’t win with this defense. I sure hope I phrased that correctly.

  120. webster Says:

    @ steve k

Obviously you flunked math in high school. And its a fact you do not have a college degree. Jameis has always had a better td to int ratio. What are you talking about? I get it. You are a butt hurt mariota lover. The same mariota that did not have a better td to int ratio last year that threw for 12 tds and 15 ints. But ofcourse, blame jameis. You too are an idiot tampa fan

    I didn’t see any facts
Remember, facts are true statements backed up by proof

  122. Greg Says:

Webster your going back 3 years ago? LOL

  123. Greg Says:

Yes gp I was referring to earlier comments back and forth with bucs1987. They had proof not opinions. If your going to quote me do your homework.

  124. BigMacAttack Says:

I base Fitzie’s intelligence on what he says and how he says it. I like Jameis and think he has a long way to go to be a top 10 QB, but have you heard him speak? He sounds like a 12 year old at the podium. Again though, I just hope this mishugas works out for them. I’m just sick of losing and total embarrassments by this team. Aren’t the rest of you. I was on board even against the Steelers. They could have easily won that game, but guys running around like Benny Hill on defense, that doesn’t just go away. They were completely dazed and confused. They all looked stoned. Someone needs to p-test these guys. And the O lime has forgot how to block, almost overnight. The Glazers can’t possibly be happy or confident right now.

  125. Oneilbucs Says:

Greg You and a lot of other people going crazy over a quarter back that played for 7 different teams and never played in a play off game but he’s white so that’s why you say what you say about Winston being black . How much longer do we have to see these white quarterback who keep getting chances and they suck from one team to the next . Matt Castel, Fizpatrick and a lot more . So I just say this give Winston time just like Eli manning got . Stop comparing him to guys that been in the league for 10 plus years stop saying he should be just as good as them why you give Derrick Carr, Ryan Tannhill, and Alex Smith had 6 or 7 years to grow y’all and the national media only giving Winston 2 or 3 years to be a hall of fame quarter back. Give him time like that this team suck. And remember the rams and the eagles had to move up in the draft means that they team was not neare as bad as the bucs . Now they have better coaching and defense.

  126. Oneilbucs Says:

Again I brought up Facts that can be backed up and y’all know it .

  130. SteveK Says:

    Webster,

    Nice try, spin doctor!

I actually did well with math, and believe it or not have a college degree! What about you? Did you go to FSU w the Jameis?

Can you add the TDs:INTs and Funbles? Pretty sure Jameis had a lot of fumbles lost, which are a turnover.

  131. Trench War Says:

He doesn’t need to play cornerback, he needs to play QB. There are a lot of teams struggling with their defenses that are putting up huge numbers. Unless our own defense is defending against Jameis, it’s a pretty weak excuse to say we lost because of our defense, when you can only muster 19 PPG on average. Fitz was putting points on the board keeping up with our weakness on defense. Now, it’s up to Jameis to do it too! The burning question is can he? I hope so because I want to win but am I totally confident after observing his play for 3 seasons? I at, “Prove it!”

  132. SteveK Says:

    Webster,

When you’re done being a petulant child, and can debate without insulting someone, which shows how hollow your opinion really is, let me know! I love debating about my Bucs! 👍😃

  133. Trench War Says:

    *correction*

    I’m at Prove It!

  134. SteveK Says:

    O’Neil,

I just want to win games, and have a QB playing that makes good decisions on and off the field.

Can we measure a man by his wins and losses, TDs:Turnover Ratio, or by how they behave off the field?

May the best man win the QB position, and hopefully the player we’ve invested a number one overall pick pans out.

  135. SteveK Says:

    Webster,

I wanted Jameis over Mariota, btw.

You’re a butt hurt Freemanite/Winston Apologist. Shame on you, butter cup!

I like “winning”, and enjoy watching QB play.

Where is NFLNut? Did he disappear or just change his screen name?

  136. DB55 Says:

    BigMac

About stepping up in the pocket you’re right but that play took 3 sec from hike (under center) to throw and at least he stepped into the throw. From what I could see it was a deep pass attempt to Djax.

More importantly, our RT is so bad that our coaches had Ali Marpet pull across the los to pass-block Craig Mack. The coaches didn’t double Mack with Dotson and Marpet instead they doubled the backup DT with Dotson and Caleb Smith. So in their infinite wisdom they decided to pull Marpet to pass block Mack on a long pass to Djax. Is Dotson incapable of doing his job?

Now, this rookie DT Nichols out of Delaware a 5th round draft pick who had two consecutive impact plays. He got a half a sack on the first play and a tfl of like 5 yards on the second, almost caused a fumble on the hand-off. He’s fast and strong.

  137. Trench War Says:

Has anyone noticed that Brady and Luck are both close to 350 yards passing. That means both defenses gave up over 400 total yards.

  138. SteveK Says:

    Webster,

Jameis Winston 2017 Touchdown: Turnover Ratio:

    19 passing TDs; 0 rushing TDs=19 TDs

    11 INTs and 15 fumbles (7 lost)= 18 net turnovers

19:18 ratio in 13 games is not $20million level play. Check my math, I’d hate to disappoint you. 💩💩💩

“Outside of that I’m a huge Noles fan and the kid is too immature to come out of college this season. Right now as huge Bucs fan as well, I’d say pass on Winston and wait for him to mature. I hear he’s staying another year at FSU anyways. Just so long as he stays out of trouble that it is.”

  141. SteveK Says:

    1987,

I want Winston to be our QB of the future too. I just think he needs to play better. I own a winston Jersey.

We are so god awful that I couldn’t bring myself to buy another digital alarm clock jersey. I instead bought a white Sapp jersey.

I miss Sapp and his dogged mentality. One tough SOB that was talented AF and wanted more than anybody. A true warrior.

  142. SteveK Says:

    Winston 2017; 13 Games, 19 TDs passing/ 0 rushing, 15 fumbles, 7 lost. Net turnovers 18.

    19:18 TD:Turnover Ratio in 2017.

1.5 TDs: 1.4 turnovers a game last year.

That’s not winning football, nor is it $20 million QB play.

  143. SteveK Says:

    11 INTs*

  144. Buc1987 Says:

Steve…..Sapp’s my favorite Buc of all time.

Yes I know the personality and all that before any of you nuisances try and ef with me over Sapp. I don’t need him to be my friend or even shake my hand.

I just want the Bucs to win. 15-14 if they have to.

  145. Buc1987 Says:

SteveK…..he already has two turnovers this season too.

    Again…12 more games to go.

  146. SteveK Says:

    Exactly, 87!

Part of that monstrous personality was well channeled towards balling out and destroying teams.

Sapp is my fav too. Then Ronde, the McNabb pick 6 solidified that, and then probably Alstott.

I also tried to find a Buccaneers Haynesworth Jersey, but had no luck. That is Dom’s signature signing. Even offered more than WSH in FA. It would be a Jersey I can wear to laugh off a good ass kicking on a Monday.

  147. Buc1987 Says:

As a fan I can do nothing but watch him play like everyone else.

If he lights it up….like I’m EXPECTING him to do. Then we’re good.

If not….throw him to the wolves cause they’re starting all over anyways.

  148. SteveK Says:

    1987,

I agree. I hope Jameis balls out te rest of the way and can win us some games.

I saw reports this offseason calling Mike Evans a possession WR, which I found to be insulting. Part of me thought, ok Mike is huge and has even bigger arms,
So I get it, it then I remember Fitz in Week one hitting Evans deep and lattimore eating turf pellets. Does Evans get the “possession”
Label bc of Jameis’s presentation of his passes being conducive for YAC?

  149. Buc1987 Says:

Steve…that’s a good point. What was his YAC in college with Manziel? I just remember him going up for a lot of one on one balls. Most of those high passes I believe are by design. I really do. I bet they throw them high in practice too.

  150. Buc1987 Says:

Perhaps check McClown and Glennon at QB too? I don’t remember mike getting too many YAC with those guys either….I don’t know. I’m the least stats guy you’ll ever find.

Joe says he’s not a stats guy….hmmm. Really?

I’m not a stats guy. Peeps have to throw them at me on a page and I’ll read them. Very rarely will I go and google a stat about a former or current player

  151. LakeLand Says:

The Bucs offense has average 18.5 points per game, during this two game losing streak. They average 28 points per games for all 4 games. They average 21 points per game during their last 3 games. I don’t see this high scoring offense.

    Winston Derangement Syndrome.

  153. I Bleed Pewter Says:

Of course you don’t, you have an agenda. You chose the 3 lowest scores. But
there are 4 games with scores 48, 27, 27, 10 added up to 112 total points divided by 4 games is a 28 point per game average. We don’t need your fuzzy math to change the narrative because you’re attempting to minimalize Fitzpatrick and prop up Jameis.

  154. adam from ny Says:

koetter definitely pulled fitzie way too early to make jameis the starter…i have heard whispers through sources that there were locker room issues with the bulk of the players – especially on the defensive side – as they thought jameis should get his job back – and essentially they stopped playing on the field in chicago to prove a point…thus jameis was reinstated to action immediately in the second half…could this be true or is everything in the lockerroom hunkydory ???

  155. gotbbucs Says:

    @1987

The fact that every year since Winston has been drafted there has been at least one or two QB’s step in and play better than him doesn’t tell you anything?

  158. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Out of sight, out of mind.

This is Jameis’ year. Yes, he’ll have fewer games to prove himself…but when all is said and done, and he gets 4000 yards passing in 13 games and sets new personal bests in all areas, the only thing left to wonder is how great it would have been with 16 games instead of 13.

    11-5.

    It’s coming.

Now, I know that I sound like a total, complete homer (proud of it) who is deceiving himself…but I truly believe 11-5 is attainable. I predicted either 10-6 or 11-5 before the season started. I lean more toward 11-5.

And yes, I know that means this Jameis led team can only lose 3 games. I know how hard that may seem to the weak in faith. This is when supporting a team is hoping for more than what the majority believes is possible…and believing until it is no longer possible.

We won pretty for two games. We lost ugly for two games. The wins were not flukes. The bye week actually fell in just the right spot for us. Consider this:

Of the teams in NFL history who started off well, then lost a couple in a row going into the bye week, then came out of the bye week to win a championship, how do they differ from the current situation except to take the next step in the same scenario?

Answer: It isn’t any different. Not yet.

  159. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Also, one game does not a season make.

When it is all over, this team will not be judged by last week. It will not be judged by any single game. When this is over, the only thing that will count is the win or loss record for the entire season.

  160. Oneilbucs Says:

Steve that’s my hold point but the a lot of people on this site and the national media don’t realy believe that. That’s have always been my belief. But just when I see how they give young white quarterbacks time but black quarter backs just don’t get the same amount of time. Jamies is only 24 years old and been in the league for 3 years on a bad team even when he put them in the position to win the defense gives up the game but he gets the blame for the loss. He’s not perfect no one is saying that. But he improved every year he been in league. But then they say those where garbage yards but Brees threw for 5000 yards 3 times or 4 and they went 5-11 6-10 and 7- 9 but they still give him credit for it no one called it garbage yards but they call Winston yards garbage yards but when you look at the games we where in every last one of them but defense couldn’t finish the game fizpatrick played well but you know what he is.
