Abundance Of Confidence

July 27th, 2018

Brimming.

There is nothing Bucs coach Dirk Koetter can do about it.

Koetter, and the Bucs, are stuck without their franchise quarterback, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, for the first three games of the season.

Basically, the rest of the team is prepping for the Saints and Jameis is prepping for the Bears.

Joe couldn’t blame Koetter if he was down in the dumps over the whole ordeal. So many people think Koetter is on the hot seat and here comes his starting quarterback getting suspended.

If Koetter is depressed (or peeved) he really was doing a decent job of playing poker yesterday when he spoke after practice. Koetter was asked if he is confident backup Ryan Fitzpatrick could guide the Bucs out of stormy waters and Koetter left no doubt how he stood.

“One-hundred percent confidence in both Ryans,” said Koetter, also referring to fellow backup quarterback Ryan Griffin. “I said to you guys multiple times, ‘If a guy makes our football team, I have confidence in him.’ That’s that simple. The 53 guys that we settle on for our final roster, I’ll have confidence in all 53 of them.”

Joe is happy to hear this and what Joe is about to type has absolutely nothing to do with Fitz: Joe is pleased to see Koetter is happy with his roster because there were guys on the roster last year Joe had zero confidence in, and there is at least one guy who likely will make the roster Joe has no confidence in.

Difference between Joe and Koetter? Joe won’t have to worry about his job security no matter what the Bucs record ends up being this fall.

Let me see….who is the player Joe has no confidence in?

Process of elimination……could be Charles Sims, Ryan Smith, Ryan Griffin…..Myron Lewis?

  2. Robert Says:

He’s happy the drama queen finally dug a hole deep enough that Koetter can show what a team playing as a TEAM can do

Bet he’s glad jdubya is on the pine

  3. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Hey……Tom Brady was in the same category before Drew Bledsoe went down………

NO ONE knew who tom brady was outside of the Patriots organization

Every team is looking for that next Tom Brady……I hope Ryan Griffin is…..so we can Trade America’s “Groper” for a late second pick!!!!!

  4. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Meh

  5. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Hey no one knew who Tom Brady was until Drew Bledsoe went down….

Every team is looking for that…..I hope Ryan Griffin is…I want the kid to show his stuff!

  6. Bucsfanman Says:

First off, what choice does he have?! Second, it is 100% on him and the coaches to get the TEAM prepared for the Saints. He better have confidence. This team is bigger than one player.

TBBF- My guess is Ryan Smith!

  7. Buc believer Says:

If he has so much confidence why does he “settle” on a player?? You CHOOSE someone you have confidence in… nor settle.

  8. D-Rome Says:

He didn’t have confidence in his running backs last year.

  9. Destinjohnny Says:

He basically has to take a team with 6-10 talent and have them go 10-6 to keep his job
    Tough spot to be in
It’s kinds like telling the coach at Mississippi state that if you don’t win the sec east you are fired.

Wow. You must wish you could delete that comment, because no one wants to look that stupid, lol.

I’m guessing this is Joe #2, so my money is on VHIII.

    @ Buccaneer Bonzai

Only clowns like you would think it’s stupid….

Explain to me why it’s stupid??????

  13. Buc believer Says:

That is like saying “I settled on my wife”

In my opinion this is the biggest problem on this team, the head coach. He had confidence in Doug Martin, how did that turn out, he had confidence in Chris Baker, how did that turn out, he did not have confidence in Kevin Phamilple or Evan Smith, how did that turn out, he had confidence in JR Sweezy how did that turn out, he did not have the confidence to put DJAX back to return punts how did that work out? Notice a trend here with confidence and decision making with the Head Coach? That is not even mentioning the lack of creativity in play calling, SMH…..

Every year around this time I begin to get fired up for the upcoming season and even with the 3 game suspension handed down by the Supreme Leader the fire is still a blaze. Leave it to the CNN of sports radio WDAE to completely crush my spirts… They thrive and seem to survive on negativity and capitalize on whatever goes wrong with this team. Jameis answered the questions to the best of his abilities without impeding on the possible civil trial that could be coming but it was simply not good enough for the likes of the clowns spewing nonsense across the Tampa Bay area. Ron and Jay were crying all yesterday afternoon and it was too painful to listen to. When ever some one called in with a positive take they would continuously slap the “sexual predator” label on number 3 and kick the caller off the air. Jameis made a childish mistake but my God can a Bucs fan get excited about a season without kicked in the nuts over and over again? If it’s not this garbage it’s JP Peterson trying to talk about his stance on the anthem like he is going to be the one to solve it. Down with WDAE and the evil Bucs media. Keep it real Joe, I always enjoy your takes and articles.

Stop dumping on Chris Conte!! LOL

  20. Bobby M. Says:

I have confidence in Fitz…Griffin is intriguing. The Bucs have definitely kept him buried for a reason. There’s something they see in him but with ZERO snaps in a regular season game its hard to understand what he is. The fact they aren’t bringing in anyone says a lot….Of course if Winston is out, Fitzpatrick goes down and you are on your last leg, the season is more about the next draft then a playoff push.

  21. Not there yet Says:

    @TheBucsAnthem

Umm yea that comment about Ryan Griffin was beyond stupid especially when mentioning Tom Brady fresh out of college. Griffin has been in the league 5 years and have taken a single in season snap. If you still need to know why that was stupid I could probably keep going but no one likes stating the obvious.

Joe I’m glad you don’t work for this team. This state is so full of weak-minded fans. We are in a better position than most. The Seahawks, cowboys, saints, Rams, chargers, Patriots. If any of those teams went into the first 3 weeks without their starter how would this games play out ESPECIALLY the saints. 6-10 talent? Really where did that logic come from oh wait nevermind I’ll answer my own question. You don’t have an opinion you get it from the media or from the 2017 record. Bucs fans are so annoying in the off-season.

  22. Casey Morgan Says:

DestinJohnny says: “He basically has to take a team with 6-10 talent and have them go 10-6 to keep his job.” Completely disagree. We have 10-6 talent and will finish 2018 11-7. (One playoff win and then a loss.)

  23. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Give Koetter a break here….what do you expect a head coach to say……”I have confidence in most of our players”….leaving open like Joe, who does he not have confidence in. I’m sure there are in his mind levels of confidence…..
    Extreme Confidence
    Great Confidence
    Confidence
    Some Confidence
    Little Confidence

    But all Confidence……

  24. Willy D Buc Says:

6-10 talent, dj? That’s ludicrous. Our roster is stacked, notwithstanding a couple of positions. I believe our season will be closer to what Casey Morgan suggests.
    Go Bucs!!

  25. Buc1987 Says:

    TBBF…lol
