Kwon Speaks Out

January 5th, 2018

Wants DE too.

You know it is bad when the offseason for the Bucs isn’t even five days old and already two of its stars are vocal about getting an edge rush for 2018.

Yesterday, news came that former Bucs defensive end Michael Bennett — who the Bucs let go for no good reason — is expecting to be a salary cap causality of the Seahawks, where he gained Pro Bowl fame and Super Bowl immortality.

Bucs stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy took to Twitter and lobbied to right a great wrong and, at the same time, address Tampa Bay’s putrid — non-existent? — edge rush by bringing Bennett back.

Well, Kwon Alxander spoke out on social media and wants the same. He added his name to the list of folks who desire Bennett, and for the Bucs to finally quit farting around and to lance this decade-old, boil-on-the-arse of the franchise.

If the Bucs have to go overboard and sign two defensive ends in free agency and draft two rookie defensive ends and hope one of the four shake out and become a consistent edge rusher, so be it. This nonsense has gone on long enough and if it continues much longer, Joe fears it could Pearl Harbor the careers of both Bucs coach Dirk Koetter and AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht.

Personal decisions the last 10 years have crushed this team.

  2. Easy Says:

Kwon needs to quit missing so many damn tackles. Looking like Barrett Ruud out there

  3. El_Buc941 Says:

@EASY You so he missed so many tackles yet he leads the team in solo tackles. And I hope team glazer is paying attention. Bring home Bennet and Talib!

  4. Jim Rudolph Says:

Michelle Bennett is a “take a knee during the national anthem guy in Seattle. That won’t fly in Tampa.

  5. Sunny Says:

Imagine Bennett , talib back and add Poe and Ansah , draft De, CB , RB first three rounds (any order ).

We would be back for now and future.

  6. Grt1 Says:

I truly believe that 2018 is a make or break year for the coaching staff so they’ll be going all in free agency. Don’t be surprised if we do sign some older free agents. Damn the torpedoes full steam ahead!!!!!

  7. mickman Says:

he is washed up. Kwon wasn’t even in high school when the liarer and kneeling Bennet even played for Tampa. what a joke.

  8. DoSomething Says:

Time to blow up the D line sans GMC and maybe Clinton McDonald if he’s ok with a backup role. Too much $$ and no production! Don’t know if that falls on Licht or coaching

  9. Phil Says:

    Rather have Ziggy Ansah.

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I oppose Bennett for other reasons…..combination of money & age….but if we do sign him, his contract has to have a cut clause if he kneels…..we simply cant’ have that on our team in Tampa…..the Glazers won’t permit that. Ticket sales are suppressed enough without having a kneeler.

  11. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Tampabaybucfan

And what if he slanders and lies against hard working people like he did in las vages????? Throw in the fact that he had 1 10 sack season, ( 4 season’s ago) and the last two know look very robert ayers like!!!!!! But this is a problem when we set up the coaches and front office with a do or die year, after year!!!!! Instead of doing it the right way, they will go for broke with band-aids and building the best roster will go out the window!!!!!!! everyone screams to fix it for opening day next season, then will cry mid way that they buc’s have old band-aids that get injured and that the GM sucks at free-agency!!!!!!

Fix the trenches and all will be good!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Bennett in free agency and either Chubb or Key in the draft. The DE problem will be just about completely solved with those two moves alone. Focus the remainder of free agency and the draft on the offensive line, defensive line and a starting CB & RB and this team makes the playoffs next year.

  13. Clodhopper Says:

People just assume he wants to look like a doofus every week wearing those uggo uniforms?

    Joking Joking…. Partially.

  14. Bucsfanman Says:

@Realist- Unfortunately this team will be forced to acquire “band-aids” because of its poor personnel decisions over the years. There is NO way the Bucs will be able to address ALL their needs with draft picks and PREMIUM FAs. It’s not possible. They have to rely on obtaining older “bridge” players to occupy certain positions until they can restock the cupboard.
I think we all tend to forget that FAs have to WANT to come here.

As far as Bennett the person goes, if we can tolerate the guy in the White House, I’m sure that we can tolerate Bennett.

  15. Joe Says:

    he is washed up.

Dude had 8.5 sacks this year. When was last time Bucs had a DE with 8.5 sacks? Yeah, thats right, Michael Bennett. 🙁

Glazers just shelled out $19 million total to three guys and got 2.5 sacks for their return.

    Who is “washed up?”

  16. jb Says:

Easy’s spot on re: Kwon missing so many tackles! For the first time since his rookie season, I started wondering if he truly is as good as we all thought. We’ve witnessed him miss numerous tackles during this last 5 game losing streak, and I saw him miss another agains the Saints Sunday.

  17. Pawel Says:

Look at Julius Peppers, older than the mummy, and still put up lots of sacks for thr Panthers.

  18. Clodhopper Says:

    Bucsfanman

Where’s this toleration you speak of? All I see is hair afire!!

  19. Dooshlarue Says:

Ah…..the Silly Season is in full swing on JBF!

Everyone putting together these magical team scenarios based on stats achieved by old players on other teams.

Of course it makes no sense to look at their personalities, work ethics and current desire to still play at a high level and how that would or would not blend with the current roster and/or vision of the franchise.

    No sir.
The genius fans on this board just want to run down the stat lines, add all those numbers together and yep……..we have a winning team just like that!!!!

Sorry, it doesn’t work like that.

    But hey……keep dreamin’

  20. Shawn Ross Says:

Why is the fact that he kneels a big deal? Desean and Mike Evans did it this year

  21. TDTB Says:

Move Kwon outside and Beckwith inside, sign Ziggy and draft Chubb.

but if we do sign him, his contract has to have a cut clause if he kneels

    that’s just total BS….a cut cause….lol….you might as well throw in a beard clause….or a dread clause….or a tattoo clause….

luckily the glazers are “good ole boys” from the south….they respect players views(black players) and would never try to under mind or control a player in that form….wake up!!!!…they’ve hired more black coaches than any owner in the league…..you think they wouldn’t respect a “kneelers” views?….lol….GO BUCS!!!!

  23. Bucsfanman Says:

Clod- You know it’s just business as usual with that! Different face same story. Not for nothing but, his hair does need to be lit on fire! It’s like watching Jimmy Johnson, only worse! I just want to mess it up….I’m trans-fixed on it!!!

  24. Bucsfanman Says:

It’s funny how we rail against kneeling. Look around the stadium the next time you’re at a game. On the concourse, are people stopping and honoring the flag? Hmmm. In the stands are people on their phones? Cap on? Talking?
I saw most of these things at the Patriots game. So, are we being hypocritical here?
Here’s a question for you guys that dislike the kneeling: Do you stand when the anthem plays when you’re watching at home?
    Yea, didn’t think so!
Get over it or DON’T WATCH IT. I watch football for FOOTBALL not to pass judgement on people.

  25. Joe Says:

    Dooshlarue:

Guessing since you didn’t offer a name you are suggesting Bennett is a Swaggy Baker-like cancer. The Seahawks with Bennett made the playoffs five of last six years including two Super Bowls. How much of a skunk can he really be?

  26. Defense Rules Says:

@Easy … “Kwon needs to quit missing so many damn tackles. Looking like Barrett Ruud out there”

@jb … “Easy’s spot on re: Kwon missing so many tackles! ”

@TDTB … “Move Kwon outside and Beckwith inside.”

B-I-N-G-O !!! Especially IF Bucs transition to more of a 3-4 defense this year. BOTH Kwon and Beckwith need tp be on the field as much as possible, but not with Kwon in the middle … he’s too easily blocked out, has trouble getting off blocks, and seems to bite too quickly on certain types of plays even if he’s not blocked out. Easy’s comment about Kwon looking more & more like Barrett Ruud is spot on. Ruud made a ton of tackles … too far down the field unfortunately.

  27. Espo Says:

He is anything but washed up. Still though, I’d like to think my beloved city and team are better than that POS.

  28. ncbucfanhere Says:

I agree that I prefer Ziggy Ansah in free agency. Shoot for both and draft Nelson. Our exact draft for the first 4 rds is posted currently by Luke Easterling for Sports Illustrated. I have never totally agreed with a draft site but I pegged the EXACT same guys he posted before he posted it. I think he’s a lowkey Bucs fan, or a great scout, which I confirmed he was a scout for years. Mike Hughes, CB, UCF…. Rashard Penny, RB, San Diego St….and pray Marcus Davenport, DE, UTSA falls and we will be ready next year.

DAMMM you people ….LOL a guy cant have one bad season so far without commenting on AN OBVIOUS NEED

what do you want the guy to say we should draft a MLB cause I had a down year and was hurt the first two quarters

he wasn’t at his best but he wasn’t the major problem….mannnnnn

maybe cause I played at a certain level my perspective is different

but some of YOU people that just point the finger back w/o making sense just to do it

the negative no sense making close your ears nana nah nah idiot mentalilty is what this team has taking the personality of

hence the 10 year drought……only positive critique for 2018!!!!!

@realist you must be an fsu grad with that math…lol…

    Bennett- 2015 sacks- 10
    2016 sacks- 5 (11games played)
    2017 sacks- 8.5

    Ayers- 2015 sacks- 9.5
    2016 sacks- 6.5
    2017 sacks- 2

Bennett would be the best dlineman we have if we signed him….we need some guys with attitude that care about winning….Bennett is definitely a “big stick carrier”….GO BUCS!!!!

  31. Pierce Says:

Leaders getting vocal. I like it!

  32. Nate Says:

maybe cause I played that spot is why i’m so passionate

    bring back the creamsickles #kwonsaidit

  33. PalmBeachBucfan Says:

Agree with getting Bennett and Talib. We should’ve never let them go. We need more kneeling in Tampa…..if only to let you anti-kneelers know it doesn’t f——n matter whether they do or not. We don’t care that you have the right to be an anti-kneeler!!!

  34. Dooshlarue Says:

    @Joe

I was referring to Bennett and Talib, and it don’t believe I used the word cancer.

I save that word for the Ice Cream Man.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say Bennett is worse than Baker, he’s better.
Baker takes the cake, literally, on laziness, poor attitude and desire.

I just don’t want anymore players past their prime coming to the Bucs and dragging our young talent down with them.

If we can find help through free agency great. I just think that attitude and desire to win should be heavily factored in instead of just looking at career stats.

  35. Wausa Says:

No wonder the NFL is loosing so many viewers each year.

If the Bucs sign Bennett I hope they go 0-16 next year.

  36. StPeteBucsFan Says:

I think Bennett might be a nice addition but he’s not the answer.

I hope we draft two DE’s…wouldn’t mind bringing another FA in as well…and of course hoping Noah finally heals. It’s time to stop monkeying around.

Our DB situation is not dire. The two young guys provide depth…and if VHG could improve then we just sign Talib and Grimes. DB’s taken care for at least a year.

We have solid LB’s. We have outstanding WR’s and TE’s…TONS of targets for #3.

We need to improve the OL and look at RB but we’re not desperate.

Where are we desperate? Pull out every last stop until we actually get a pass rush!!! This year!!!

  37. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Kwon is fine. No player is going to play perfectly, and fans tend to see the bad more than the good.

It’s too early to really know who will be available in free agency. Bennett could be completely wrong. He may not be cut.

Then again, if they intend to cut him anyway, Why not offer them a 5th rounder just to get him off their cap and trade for him?

DeMarcus Lawrence and Ezekiel Ansah are supposed to hit FA, but their teams would be insane to let them go.

  38. Tony from Los Angeles Says:

Have you been reading my comments, Joe?

That’s exactly what I’ve been saying countless times. The Bucs have to go overboard to fix the trenches on both sides of the ball. Bring in 4 new lineman on both sides that can really compete to start and increase real depth on both sides. Premium picks and free agent signings as well as late round gems and secondary tier free agents. 8 new faces that have starter potential. Let them
battle the incumbents. Go overboard on both lines. It is the only way this team will find gems and avoid complacency.

Fix the trenches, fix the Bucs.

  39. NFLNut Says:

DEMARCUS LAWRENCE or ZIGGY ANSAH in free agency followed by BRADLEY CHUUBB in the draft would give us one of the nastiest pass-rushes in the entire NFL … forget old man Michael Bennett …

  40. tmaxcon Says:

it does not matter who they bring in as long as cancer93 is a captain this team will be soft and never compete for anything but the basement.

  41. Bucsfanman Says:

Where you been T?! I would say we missed you but you know that would be a lie!!! 🙂

  42. Nole4JabooANDdBucs Says:

Kwon has been injured and he is human and not perfect! duh!

Know perfection in real life, go fantasy…

  43. JimmyJack Says:

What the hell is the matter with you people? Have you seen our Ends? Of course you haven’t because they don’t do anything…….Bennet can come to Tampa and apply pressure and make plays from our line.

We don’t just need somebody like Bennet here we desperately need him. Any reason you are conjuring against Bennet can be tossed in the trash. We need a talented end and Bennett has the goods.
