Soft Defense Awaits Jameis In Green Bay

December 1st, 2017

Joe’s been very hard on the Buccaneers’ garbage defensive efforts. Well, the Packers defense is very nearly as bad.

All kinds of quarterbacks have lit up Green Bay this season, including Bears QB Mitch Trubisky, who has been brutal in all his starts, except against the Packers.

Think about this, the Bucs have only allowed five more first downs through the air all season than Green Bay! Overall, the Packers have the 25th-ranked pass defense; the Bucs’ is the NFL’s worst. And both teams allow the same amount of points per game.

Stud pass rusher Clay Matthews is not the guy he used to be. Matthews has just 3.5 sacks this season and has only 15 sacks in his last 38 games. He’s got a bad groin and didn’t play last Sunday. Father Time has caught him from behind, it seems.

Nick Perry is still hunting QBs, but he’s cooled off over the last two games and the Packers overall pass rush is poor. They haven’t recovered after losing Julius Peppers. In their five wins this season, they’ve had 14 sacks. In the six losses, they’ve totaled just eight sacks.

This all could bode well for Jameis and the Bucs, as long as they continue to pass block well.

Will the absences of Demar Dotson and Ali Marpet make a difference in that area Sunday? Joe’s not so sure.

Of course the Bucs will beat the Packers. Our expectations must be ignited so the Bucs can build our hopes up just to crush them again. Sometime I wish I had never played H.S. Football so I can spare myself of this obsession.

  2. Bucs fan #7423 Says:

Go bucs! Go Jamies! Crush them packers! 🙂

  3. Roy T. Buford Says:

Oops. Another jinx. Green Bay gets well against the Bucs. They all do.

  4. Jman Says:

Soft like the gray matter between Americas coach killer’s ears.

  5. Bucnut2 Says:

I’ll believe it when I see it. The Bucs offense has been well, offensive this season. Fitz has looked more efficient and frankly more suited to win than the more talented Winston. This will be interesting. I hoping for another loss as I want the highest draft pick possible. We have a lot of needs and now it looks like we may need to add QB to that list.

  6. Buc believer Says:

Ahhh just what a struggling team needs… a visit from the Bucs and Batman himself. With a McCoy led defense I would say Green Bay puts up over 30 on Mr. comic book man and company.

  7. richbucsfan Says:

The Packers’ defense will shred the Bucs offense. Who are you trying to kid?

  8. Bird Says:

Well. Sounds like Jameis should have big day. No excuses.

  9. America's Groper Says:

This game will be as exciting as watching 2 houses side by side burning to the ground. Pretty much like all of our games this year

  10. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Fameis will put up 300+yards passing and 3tds but we’ll lose 31-28 because our d is just as bad. Did you see what the did to Blitzburgh?

  11. JayBuc Says:

Packers D played pretty decent against the Stealers, they shut down Antonio Brown a big part of the game

  12. Mike Johnson Says:

Packers are Soft? Please Joe..Cut it out..and kmock it off !!! Bucs can ill afford to call anybody soft with their own..charmin tissue Defense! I don’t even know GB’s QB name. But just watch him conduct a Pearl Harbor ariel assualt on us. Of course this is a winnable game for the Bucs. But in Green Bay with staunch Loyal fans Brisk temps, a press box Dorito eatin DC, we shall lose. Green Bay will be ready. Pissed off teams usually are.

  13. AlteredEgo Says:

All I will be watching is Jameis’s accuracy for the remainder of the season….more importantly ball placement on completions ….

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Hoping for a loss?…….How very, very sad……enjoy watching the game, losers.

  15. jjbucfan Says:

All up to Koetter. If he does that stupid vertical game because Jameis is back there, we will be beaten. Hard for me to believe the fans don’t see how Dirk changed his offense for Fitz. If he continues the short efficient passing game then we have a chance unless of course Mike Smith takes the Packers giving the points like he has done all season (totally kidding).

  16. gilhealy Says:

You keep watching for those things, Altered Ego, because we’re all hanging on your opinion. Clam up. Stay negative, that’s your gig.

  17. Evolvingbucfan Says:

I predict Jameis will go back to what worked, find Mike Evans alot and from there start spreading the ball around and might help the running game. Only way from here is up?….I hope.

  18. Jman Says:

Jameis is back passing. Watch out water boys and chain gang and unwary observers on the sidelines.

  19. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Bucs should shelve jameis for the year and secure a top 5 draft pick what will 7-9 get this team but a player that licht will draft wrong

  20. 813bucboi Says:

    we’ll see….GO BUCS!!!!

  21. Mike Johnson Says:

Tampabaybucfan…Not hoping for a loss..But knowing they are going to lose. Thats more accurate. YOU..are hoping, wishin and ah praying..the football Gods let us win. Not me..I’m a pragmatc. Green Bay is pissed, They lost by what last week? 2 or 3? They are playing at home in Lambau. Sure I want us to win. But after evaluating this Bucs team? I’m actually SHOCKED..when we win! Nobody is hoping for a loss sir. ITS JUST A FACT!!!
