5 A.M. For Jameis?

Important day looms

Important day looms

A new era begins for the Buccaneers tomorrow when the team reports back to One Buc Palace to embark on the 2016 season.

And Joe’s not talking about new head coach Dirk Koetter.

America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, gets to start his first season as unquestioned leader of the Bucs, the straw that stirs the drink. Starting tomorrow morning, Jameis sets the tone of the locker room and the offseason his way.

Leadership is often overblown in the NFL, but it does matter, especially on a broad scale, versus a pregame speech or an isolated event.

After last season’s ugly demise, Jameis publicly and loudly promised new standards of excellence in 2016, a new culture, a commitment to winning — one in which players care as much or more than coaches.

But even prior to Jameis’ unleashing after the Carolina finale, he was talking about a necessary mentality change at One Buc Palace.

Yes, Jameis was right. Just look at the acknowledged mental collapse by Lavonte David and others on opening day last year. And then fast-forward to David calling the Bucs emotionally unstable in December.

The Bucs need Jameis’ brand of leadership and it starts tomorrow.

Will Jameis be there at 5 a.m. greeting every teammate as he arrives and imparting the new Jameis order?

Joe would bet on it.

To this point, I’m STOKED! Though I don’t watch college ball, I gotta believe Licht will still draft well again. I hear yall clamoring for different players…from what i hear…I’ll take Spence
    YO JOE!
    GO BUCS!!!

  10. JAB83 Says:

Yeah our boy Smith from the Ravens and Kwon ain’t gonna let LVD feel like he did last year… And Verner and Grimes are gonna show Banks what’s up… Safeties are not gonna matter because GMC, Ayers and (Big Mo???) Will be blasting the OLine a new one and Jack and that other guy will wreck the QB!!!

Jamies will insert his “elongated arc” and the new young core on Offense will set the tone for the team…. Controlling the ball and scoring off turnovers will be the story line… Everyone will be calling it “The Lovie Effect” because we will lead the NFL in takeaways…

Lookahere..Not to rain on all of the RAH..rah Rah parades being posted here,
Games still have to be played, jameis must improve on his long ball accuracy, we must stop giving opposing QB’s time to order burger/fries..and eat them while completing passes against a very weak secondary, find a pass rush..Want more? Just sayin..I’ll remain cautiously optimistic. Sorry to interrupt the party..before any work has been done. But I’m just..Keeping it real!

——————————————————————–Hate to rah rah rain on your parade but Jameis was actually fairly good at deep ball passing last season. There were several times receivers flat out dropped the ball on perfect throws (Evans in the rain comes to mind, the other was Dye I believe vs. New Orleans that would have tied the game) – http://www.tomahawknation.com/2015/11/3/9666968/jameis-winstons-qb-rating-on-long-passes-nearly-25x-better-than

Quit getting Stoked years ago. Learned to just take it one game at a time.

  18. Buccfan37 Says:

Time flies, look at this year 3 and 1/2 months have nearly passed, another 4 and 1/2 months will go fast. The draft coming up will stoke the anticipation madly. I can’t wait either.

  19. #1 Buc Fan Says:

I strongly believe the Bucks will be a team to reckon with. First thing that needs to stop is stupid penalties. Penalties lost 2-3 games last year. Stay healthy and focused they will win.
