Clutch Play

It didn’t look good for America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston. He began the game without three of his top four targets.

Out for the year is Louis Murphy. Out for God knows how long is Austin Seferian-Jenkins (this China doll is out more than he plays). Out for the near future is Vincent Jackson.

Yes, Mike Evans was available, but he is dinged up. So the only guys healthy Jameis had to throw to were backup tight ends and dudes who were either special teams cats, practice squad dudes or slugs walking the street a few weeks ago.

Yet when the Bucs absolutely, positively needed points, the Bucs found a way to get the job done. Most rookie quarterbacks would have urinated in their pants with virtually no one to throw to. Not Jameis.

Props to the Bucs, props to offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, and props to Jameis for finding a way to win with limited resources on the road against a powerful team in the NFC South.

That’s clutch.

    Jameis = hope

    Lovie = dope

  2. Tampatony Says:

Liked how he played but wish he’d have thrown a better ball to humphries to win the game. Still like how he’s progressing though

  3. Ray Rice Says:

Yes. He could have put more air under the bombs to Savage Mike. But wanna know what? It doesn’t matter. The kid has that spunk about him. Did anyone see him on the sidelines working his offense as they rested. Did anyone see him run on the field to congratulate his defense. This kids attitude is infectious. It will go a long way.

    No turnovers……Jameis Winston…..”Game Manager”

  5. patrickbucs Says:

Over time he will figure put how to lead his receivers. Very gutty performance though.

  6. TAC Says:

So many times he came through today, along with his team. I can’t decide the most important, but there were at least 3.

    -The TD run.
-The throw to martin up the gut while in the grasp.
-The first down throw to Evans with the previous negative play, and the false start by Mankins. (the the start of the usual melt down.)

  7. WalkdaPlank Says:

No turnovers in 3 weeks, 6 TD’s. Any doubt I had about Jameis after the draft is gone.

  8. Bucfan77 Says:

Congrats to the Bucs defense to finally hold when it counted,But to all you Famous Jameis Haters, runny eggs for you,That O line gonna be great with no health issues, good penalties are ok occasional hold here and there, the stupid false starts gotta sto tho,,but I give them B+ for sure.We should be easily 5-2 but yall know why we’re not,but great win.

Yeah, he could have ended the game there, but i’m glad HE MISSED THE THROW AND i’m GLAD OUR DEFENSIVE PLAYERS FIGURED OUT HOW TO FINISH A GAME!!

dont remember when in the 1st half but there was a 3rd and short in our territory where it was clearly a run and you see Jameis calmly go down the line checking into a pass play and getting a first down. I even tweeted at Joe when it happened and declared Jameis is now the leader of this team. Such a clutch play by Jaboo

And this guy goes after others? He’s glad Jameis missed a throw to win the game?!?!? Yeah thanks for the troll confirmation.

    Way to go Lovie.

    And Jameis.

We’re not out of this thing yet…..

Can we all get together for a prayer! Thank you Lord for giving Lovie Smith and Jason Licht the strength and guidance for drafting our savior Jameis Winston. Lovie Smith and Jason Licht are looking like a couple of SEXY GENIUSES every week this kid steps on the football field. Amen…

OneLove is very angry for a guy with OneLove (or JAB83) in his handle. Get laid dude, you’ll lighten up. Shoving your nuts in Falcons fans face isn’t getting laid, its the sign of sexual frustration.

Great players elevate those around them! Do we suppose that we got the maximum Humphries talent had to offer today? How about Cameron Brate? Did Fameis get the max out of him.

Fameis just brings fire and confidence to this team and hopefully that attitude evident on offense will be contagious and start rubbing off on the defense.

Would not say that he is angry. Would say that he is discussed with you stupidity. When some[one chose a name such as Lovie Is Dog Poo, that I would describe as andry…. and stupid.

  19. Buccfan37 Says:

How can anyone argue about a win? Just the win alone should make all the other team issues irrelevant for at least a couple days. Damn, can’t take these kids anywhere without a big brouhaha.

  20. StPete727 Says:

Wow, Winston plays smart, picks and chooses his deep throws to Evans, takes off and scrambles at the correct times and still have clowns calling him “game manager” on this message board. No reason for him to throw it 35+ times a game when you have Martin & Simms in the backfield. In OT he converted 3rd downs when the game was on the line, yes he should have put air on that final pass, but he was trying to throw low and play it safe. He cant win even when he WINS games and pumps up his teammates. I love the trolls, because they expose themselves. Last time I check Big Ben was a “game manager” his first couple of seasons. Winston is the best thing to happen to the Bucs since we got Sapp & Brookes, be satisfied. The fake fans wanted Winston to be JaMarcus Russell, but its not happening, Jameis is the real deal. No weapons and he keeps his cool on the field. How can you hate on the effort, when we have NEVER had good QB or offensive play ever??!

  21. Mo_Downs Says:

    Hey Joe,

Short Version: Bucs reserve WR’s are “paid interns”. Nuff said…!!

BTW, the Bucs will be sporting new uniforms via NIKE next season, just in time for their Super Bowl season.

    All Red….???

    Hmmmm?

Don’t the Cardinals already wear ALL RED at home..??

  22. BucUToo Says:

What got my attention was when the camera caught Jameis on the sideline talking to his offensive line after a 3 and out. Then that TD run when the play broke down. Way to stay cool, and just make the best of a busted play. He’s just getting better and better.
