Ken Whisenhunt singles out three on the Bucs defense

Joe just hopped off a teleconference with Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

The longtime NFL offensive mind named three names on the Bucs defense that impressed him.

Enter Kwon Alexander, Lavonte David and Gerald McCoy. Whisenhunt singled them out, and it was a nice shout out for Alexander, the Bucs’ rookie middle linebacker.

“The way they play, they play fast. They move around,” Whisenhunt said when asked about the Bucs defense. “I’ve been impressed the way they play as a uniy. They certainly present issues. … That’s characteristic of what I’ve seen of a Coach Smith defense before. You know, they’ve got a good young linebacker. Kwon [Alexander] has flashed on the tape, too. They’ve got some good players. We’re certainly aware of that.”

Yes, the Bucs have a fast linebackers corps. Will one of them be “spying” Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota? Joe doubts Lovie Smith would go that far, but certainly the Bucs have the juice from David and Alexander to match Mariota’s speed — and hopefully drill him.

Just play Buc ball, and the rest will fall in place.

No need for our LBs to rush the passer. We have no problem getting pressure and sacks with our front four!

  3. Buccfan37 Says:

The Titans offensive head coach couldn’t name any Bucs offensive players that impressed him?

I don’t know about the spy but I hope our contain people on each side are on top of their games and under orders to focus on Mariota on every run option…forget about the RB for awhile just totally tee off on MM. It’s still legal and we saw what happend when OSU blasted him.

Everybody talks about JW taking all the PS punishment. JW has proved his courage. I think MM has courage but let’s see if OSU just got in a lucky shot or if MM has the RGIII problem.

We’ll in the glory days of our Tampa-2, we used to put a spy on guys like Vick, and we would completely shut them down, so I’m not opposed to that. Of course I think MM is a better passer than Vick was, but the spy could still be very effective.

    @Buccfan37

The duty of their offensive coordinator is to study our defense! Not our offense

Sounds like they are going to try and expose Kwon

Like Mike Singletary would say, “KA is going to party with Mariotta” – @Joe

Hit Marcus on every option play, then keep pounding him, let’s see what he’s made of.

But Joe that would make the Mariota clingers very upset with the Bucs.

Just curious, this Mariota clinger wonders how many times the Kid-Fameis-sociopath’s THINK Mariota pulled the ball down and did the “tuck & run” – versus how many times he dropped back and went through his progressions?

I know it’s asking a lot of the FSUfanboys to digest plays – rather than sit back with a big ol’ kegger and holler-fed-yer-boy to “chuck it” …but if you’re going to try and talk smack BEFORE the game – choke up if you have to, just get a grip.

…cuz kid fameis has done the ol’ “tuck & run” more often than Mariota.

To show you that my hearts in the right place – regardless of what I think of the young man – this is NOT a MUST WIN for kid fameis. Because his skillset doesn’t lend itself to the current offensive line’s level of development, while Mariota’s does. This should allow Mariota a faster transition – I don’t think we’ll see a fair comparison – until kid fameis has enough protection to take a 5 or 7 step drop without getting buried under a pile of defensive linemen. I believe that will take a couple of seasons.

  12. White Tiger Says:

If you think Ken Wisenhunt will run an option just because he has Mariota – you may be in for a bit of surprise.

You also may also want to ask your mom to let you watch football games on days other than Saturday.

    Who cares?

A clinger that’s who…stay proud clinger, stay proud.

BEST quote I’ve seen this year is from Coach Koetter, “A coach’s job is to take the guys we’ve got at every position and figure out how to give us a chance to win on Sunday.” No bullshit, just taking responsibility! That should be Bucs mantra from owner down to towel boy. If not, may God save us all.

WinstonsCrabShack… yeah but he is the head coach not the OC.
