“I Liken Him To Manziel A Little Bit”

The comparisons are getting out of hand

Wait a minute. Lovie Smith just compared Mike Glennon to Michael Vick.

Now the Bucs’ de facto offensive coordinator is making Johnny Football-Glennon comparisons.

Arroyo was happy today to talk about Glennon’s roll-left, throw-right, touch-pass, deep ball to Vincent Jackson in New Orleans.

“I liken him to Manziel a little bit. He actually said that to me, which was funny,” Arroyo said of Glennon. “Mike does, to some surprise maybe, does a good on the move. He really does. He moves well. He does a good job keeping his eyes downfield. He’s got good arm angles. He does things outside the pocket that you don’t see because he’s not out there very often on tape. That’s not his deal. When he does, he displays he can throw the ball.”

For those who want to see the special Mikey Football play from Sunday again, here’s the video:

This afternoon, Glennon seemed to enjoy questions about his mobility and stood up for his ability to scramble and execute.

He said his mobility is adequate at least, “As long as you can move, create a lane and throw, “Glennon explained. “I’ll just stick to who I am.”

Yes, all this Glennon love is getting a little out of hand. But Joe can’t deny it’s fun.

    Glennon’s girlfriend > The ho’s Manziel pulls.

  2. WalkdaPlank Says:

I didn’t see Glennon holding a clipboard out there.

  3. cometowin2 Says:

He’s the best we got. Only Buc quarterback to win a game since 2012. We roll with Mike.

  4. Patrick in VA Says:

Looks like you got a Manziel style player after all, Joe. Only difference is, our guy can actually start in the league.

  5. Ray Rice Says:

Welp Joe…. I bet you’re happy. You finally got him. Enjoy. Mike Glennon=Johnny Football. And you see how smart Licht is. He didn’t waste a first round pick to get him.

  6. DB55 Says:

This is the funniest shit I’ve read all week.

  7. billy buckaroo Says:

How good could Glennon be if he had a “run” game that the other teams had to respect?

  8. Morgan 42 Says:

Adequate Mobility + Intelligence + Cannon = Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

  9. Robert 9 Says:

like manziel…. just 3 times the IQ

  10. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Wanna know the difference between Mike Glennon and Johnny Manziel? Glennon is a starting quarterback in the NFL. Manziel is not. Don’t even talk about Manziel in the same sentence as Glennon.

  11. Buccfan37 Says:

The only similarity I can detect in MG and JM is the likeness to Mutt and Jeff.

  12. NewTampaChris Says:

Joe, you need to start saying man-ZEEL. It’s embarrassing to listen to a radio show with two educated football analysts pronouncing a guy’s name differently.

  13. Buc1987 Says:

Long legs…long stride. Like a giraffe.

  14. Patrick in VA Says:

@NewTampaChris -There aren’t two educated football analysts on that show. It’s an educated football analyst and a host…

In my best Ric Flair voice….Wooooooooo!

  16. Buc1987 Says:

Most of us when we walk our steps amount to about 8 inches to a foot per step.

Glennon’s is probably about a foot and a half to 2 to and 1/2 feet every time he takes a step.

Let the giraffe out of his cage I say. Let him run.

  17. Buc1987 Says:

I’m getting GLASSES today damn it! My proof reading sucks. Time to admit I’m getting old.

  18. BucFanInArkansas Says:

Can’t we just let Glennon be Glennon?

  19. ChargedCBH Says:

The only thing exciting about the Bucs is having the ability to draft Marcus Mariota next year.

Glennon strides in for a touchdown!

  22. BucIt941 Says:

I like having a QB who is a throw first guy. To many of these modern QB’s are RB’s with an arm and are much higher risk for injury. Glennon’s eyes are ALWAYS down field….Unless pressure is directly in his face!

  23. bucrightoff Says:

Oregon QB = Guaranteed bust (Joey Harrington, Akili Smith, Dennis Dixon). Avoid like the plague

  24. Espo Says:

DB55, I fell for that hook, line, and sinker. It was funny.

  25. biff barker Says:

Lovie tried to trade Glennon then wouldn’t even give him a chance to compete against a hand picked career backup.

McCown would still be clowning under center on an 0-5 team if he could.

  26. biff barker Says:

    Bucfan AK,

Excellent, just let Glennon be himself and play his own game.

  27. passthebuc` Says:

The Buc’s front office must hire an agency to come up with the stupid things they say. No one can be that stupid intentionally.

Just 3 times the IQ?!?! Are you a Glennon hater? ;^)

    “Lovie tried to trade Glennon”

Prove or retract. Licht is on record saying he won’t even take calls about Glennon. And I’ve not seen one single statement from Lovie indicating he even entertained the idea of getting rid of Glennon.

    @ DB55

FUNNY!!! And I don’t even know who ‘Krusty’ is. ROTFLMAO!!

  31. ToesOnTheLine Says:

For a real good laugh go back to the JBF archives circa April – August 2014 and witness the Glennon vitriol compared to the praise now that the ‘Pineapple McCown’ experience is hopefully over (still chuckle when Owlykat and a few others predicted MCCown would be eating pineapple this year…priceless stuff!). ‘Bout time some of you doubters opened your eyes and saw Glennon might not be Manning, but he has a lot of good QB traits for such a young QB.

  32. Bucfan4life Says:

That is a ridiculous comparison. I have never been a Glennon fan….until now. The kid is just a smart football player and he could be the real deal. I think my only problem with him is that he does actually look like a giraffe when he runs. Would like a more athletic looking QB but he definitely seems like the best out of recent QBs drafted, especially in his draft.

  33. mark2001 Says:

OMGosh….Joe must have spit out his “coffee” when he heard that…it is like when you leave your old girl friend, have a new one…and a friend of many years that didn’t know about your old girl friend coincidentally compares her, in some offhanded remark, to your new one. Yikes.

  34. mark2001 Says:

And closer to home Joe, my EIU grad wife of over thirty years being compared to one of my old ISU girlfriends by someone that didn’t know about the old girl friend….Yikes.

  35. Buc1987 Says:

ToesOnTheLine …July and August of 2013 I was one of the biggest Glennon bashers. Poor robert9 remembers all that crap I’m sure about that.

robert9 wanted Glennon to start the 2013 season ahead of Freeman. He took a lot of CRAP for that, and not just from me.

Thus is why I call robert9 The President of the MGM. I don’t always agree with his posts, but he nailed this one so far. Because I’m all in on Glennon right now, it could change of course, but I think I’ve seen enough. He actually gives me something to get excited about for once with this team. Not the D, not the O, just Glennon.

  36. PanthersSuck! Says:

He’s basically Payton Mannings Arm with Michael Vicks legs

  37. Zam Says:

Sorry but that was all V-Jax. He read the field, fooled the receiver and put on the jets to catch that ball.

  38. frog Says:

Joe you need to view some of Glennon;s college video. He has dome pretty impressive stuff out there. Its just that the Freeman lovers have to take there shots. Sort of like your friend the dog, it’s don’t confuse me with the facts my mind is already made up. I believe that these Glennon basher’s would rather see us loose than Glenno be our quarterback.
