Nicks “Has A Purpose About Him”

August 27th, 2013

So how’s All-Pro guard Carl Nicks dealing with a scary staph infection in his foot?

Greg Schiano said today that Nicks is progressing. But Davin Joseph took it a step further, telling Joe that Nicks is at One Buc Palace daily doing what he can to recover and prepare, though not yet practicing.

“You see him coming in every day. He has a purpose about him,” Joseph said.

Joseph stressed that he and his teammates have been telling Nicks to not rush and take whatever time/means necessary to return healthy.

This is good news. Joe was unsure whether Nicks was laid up with his foot elevated and unable to do anything, or whether he was up and about and doing something.

If Nicks comes back healthy in Week 6, after the Bucs’ Week 5 bye week, Joe would consider that a blessing.

he has 47.5 million reasons to “have a purpose”. Get that kind of money to just show up?

    where do I sign?

I would much rather HAVE Nicks down the stretch than to lose Nicks down the stretch.

    me too gus….

I just don’t see it though. not the MRSA, but the coming in not fully recovered with the amount of time he had does not make me optimistic. makes me the exact opposite, thinking he’s just mailing it in and saying the right things to get paid.

I could be wrong, but not often.

    Ricardo

    You are wrong, completely wrong

Nicks is suffering from a injury that will NEVER heal. He will deal with four the rest of his life. Its been stated everyday all summer by Joe/Bucs med staff. He just gonna have to learn to deal with it. This same injury has ended careers.

its least Nicks is doing better than Tynes. apparently Tynes was hospitalized and had to have a PICC line put in him. get well soon both Nicks and Tynes.

I think the timeline for his return is perhaps a bit exaggerated. I just recently had a bout with MRSA in June, and had to be hospitalized for 4 days. Although it was tough, you are fully recovered within 2 wks. If they caught it early(which mine wasn’t) it could be even sooner. With 2 wks before the 1st game, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in play against the jets.

Week 6 Return would be huge!

Hope the big guy makes it back ASAP.

    Hope Tynes is ok.

    Go Bucs!

Healthy Nicks is HUGE for us.

bucsdeluge…I’m on the same page with you. Week 5 or 6? That just sounds silly to me. I say week 1 or 2.

  12. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Week six?! Lol.

He’ll be back week 2, assuming nothing else goes wrong. He may even be questionable week one.

One of the biggest busts in franchise history. Period.
