“I’m Going To Kill Him”

October 21st, 2010

The folks at the Post-Dispatch in St. Louis are making noise about Gerald McCoy’s quotes after he chatted with the St. Louis media yesterday.

Inevitably, the MSM out there wanted to talk about McCoy taking on his former college QB teammate Sam Bradford on Sunday, when the Lambs come to Tampa.

“I’m going to kill him,” McCoy said Wednesday. “If I can get to him, I’m going to kill him. We are definitely cool off the field. But on the field, I do not know him. He is No. 8 for the Rams, and that’s all I know.”

McCoy embellished the message, adding that if he sacks Bradford, “I might even do something dirty, like knee him or something. When we get off the field, I’ll say, ‘Hey, Sam, don’t take it personal, man. It was an accident.'”

Bradford acknowledged hearing the smack talk and even offered an excuse. “At Oklahoma, he was never allowed to hit me,” Bradford said. “So, I think he’s got a lot of built-up frustration that he’s going to try to take out on Sunday.”

Now McCoy and Bradford are friends so there’s no juicy bad blood here. McCoy professed his love of Bradford on The Gerald McCoy Show on WDAE-AM 620 on Tuesday night. McCoy even told a story about how he passed some college classes because Bradford was his personal tutor.

As for “killing” Bradford, Joe would be pleased if McCoy can simply touch, maybe hit, Bradford a few times. That would be a big improvement over the past few games.

    A moment of silliness
What id McCoy hits him so hard now that he does kill him by accident???! Would that interview prove premeditation???! OMG, our starter is going to be put in prison!

I think McCoy has the maturity level of a twelve year old. I think he is just a big goof ball kid stuck in a giant man’s body. Hopefully one day he’ll turn into the serious QB killing man we want him to be, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon. He’s a clown, not a QB killa.

Kid definitely isn’t the greatest “smack talker”.

I honestly woulnd’t be surprised to find out his sister reads him bed times stories at night, or that he has a blanky.

Harsh words. Sapp was not a QB Killa in his first year either. McCoy, like most rookies, is concerned with learning his position to the point that he isn’t just playing the game.

Eventually, a light will come on this year…he’ll get a sack, he’ll think about how he did it, and he’ll start finding himself ways to get more.

And personally I thought the smack was funny. My concern is that Rams fans will cause an uproar and insist on a fine because he threatened injury.

oops, messed up my quotes on that one!

Look at that jersey for McCoy.

I certainly hope the 1 didn’t stand for the number of sacks he plans to get this year! :O

@JDouble – usually you have descent, intelligent posts – the above ones are just plain ignorant. Don’t crucify the guy for having a personality.

  9. Mr. McCoy Says:

You guys are just too mean!!!!!!!!

    Wahhh…wahhhh….

People in Oklahoma weren’t this mean…….

    Really?

I think GMC will be extra motivated playing against his old friend and he is going to have his breakout game this week.

  13. Thomas Says:

Kill him? He hasn’t sniffed a qb for a month and a half. I don’t think he has shared a zip code with a qb. If he wants to hurt a qb he is going to have to hire ndomakang duh to do it. This guy, so far, is embarrassing.

  14. Tampa2 Says:

I don’t understand why everyone compares Sapps 1st year to McCoy’s, then says McCoy’s time is coming. Take a look at who we could have traded for and you will see the “real” quarterbackkilla. Ndomakang Suh! This guy is a beast. He already has more sacks in his 1st year than Sapp had in a whole year. And he is just starting the season, and his career. Now that McCoy has been through OTA’s, Training camp, Preseason, and 5 regular games, he has discovered that he has been “confused”. But now that he has talked to his coaches he is just fine! Good luck with that! While hindsight is 20/20, We all begged the Bucs to go after Suh. The Rams were going after Bradford and we could have had him easily. Then again, with this coach Suh could be confused too.

Joe, can we have Tampa 2’s posting privileges suspended?

Wow some of you guys need to realize he was having fun….or have we all for gotten that this is a game and should be fun !!!!!!!

Anyone who is gonna act like he is a bust a month and a half into his career is dumb and should no long watch football !!!!!

We still have a winning record….and in case you don’t know in the last 16 years we have had only 6 losing years….I’d say we as a fan base have had it pretty good
