Quarterbacks Love The Bucs

October 15th, 2014
The Bucs pass defense is so terrible, there is no slowing down Joe Flacco or any other opposing quarterback.

The Bucs’ pass defense is so terrible, there is no slowing down Joe Flacco or any other opposing quarterback.

Joe is hardly a guy who suggests civil disobedience is a way to get your point across. Often, that is outrageous if not irresponsible and maybe illegal.

Yet on Sunday, Joe Flacco was throwing touchdowns with such ease and the Bucs defense was so pathetic, Joe couldn’t believe no fan threw a beer on the field in disgust, anger and protest.

Fans should have. It would have gotten the point across to every person in the Bucs organization how unacceptable that type of play is when you are charging folks hard-earned cash for such a rotten product.

You can bet there are plenty of NFL sites where debris would have rained from the upper deck for the schlock that was displayed Sunday.

Just how miserable is the defense crafted by Lovie Smith? Well, if you are an NFL team with a quarterback who is in a slump, you really, really, really want to play the Bucs. Joe will let Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk explain.

So in other words, if your quarterback is having a bad season, then the Bucs are good for what ails ya?’ Hope Lovie is proud of that.

Let Joe put it this way: Would you, on a bi-weekly basis, drop $50 (or more) on a restaurant for food so bad a dog wouldn’t touch it, only to be told by the chef that his cooks are learning on the job and the meals may not be edible for another year? Of course you wouldn’t.

Bucs made Flacco look like a HOF’er.
Also, wasn’t Lovie’s goal to win every home game? Bucs have 0 by my count

  2. DB55 Says:

I’m sure some would joe, especially on another site that’s talks bucs all day. I’m positive some would gladly pay the $50 bucs.

Btw, there’s been a lot of talk about GMCs play. Does any know how he graded out last week?

  3. bucrightoff Says:

Without that comeback against the Steelers the Bucs would be universally viewed as the worst team in the league, with an almost historically awful defense. I saw the Lovie era going a lot of ways but certainly not like this.

  4. Buddhaboy Says:

wow ,, the metaphor huh Joe. Rotten food.

Sounds about right. I always blame the head chef (err Lovie)

  5. iamabuc Says:

No to take anything away from Flaco, I know he’s a great qb, I’m just saying records are made and broken, and in this last Flacco’s game he set some sort of record, yeah, but against a team that wasn’t playing professional fball. Any high school futball team could’ve beaten them. I love to see a record being made or broken when both teams are really competing. Now that’s a record!
Just saying, …not all records great feats.

Guessing pretty well. If the quarterback is unloading the ball in less than three seconds, pretty much impossible for any d-lineman to touch him.

  7. Ray Rice Says:

    @DB 55

By the look of last week’s game I can definitely say Geralds grade couldn’t have been too high. Or maybe he got extra points for sportsmanship by helping the Ravens RB up and thanking him for the a$$ whooping they were giving him. Lol

  8. DB55 Says:

    Lmao

Joe is soft as a cheeseburger

“Joe is hardly a guy who suggests civil disobedience is a way to get your point across. Often, that is outrageous if not irresponsible and maybe illegal.”

Way to embody the American spirit, Joe.

  10. steve Says:

Why do you have an axe to grind with Lovie all of the sudden? Every other article you are taking shots at him. Did he not answer a question for you? Was he rude to you? Did he bark at you? Do you really think Lovie is proud of the way his defence is playing? What kind of statement is that?

  11. Buc1987 Says:

    Quarterbacks Love The Bucs…and GMC.

  12. Buc1987 Says:

He’s on pace for a 5 sack season…pay the man already. He’s earning it. Pay him Warren Sapp type money…

  13. G8rbuc13 Says:

I’m sick and tired of people, players included, saying they are still learning the defense. These guys are not rookies. These guys are NFL players, supposedly, who have been on other teams and have seen other playbooks. Not to mention they were signed in March! It should not take 6-7 months, a full preseason and 6+ NFL games to still not fully understand the defense. Maybe they are just too stupid and/or lazy to get the job done. Certainly wouldn’t be the first time we’ve made those signings.

Its no wonder QBs would love playing against the Bucs, we still can’t figure out our own defensive scheme.

  14. Buc1987 Says:

G8rbuc13…they will still be saying “it takes time to learn” in week 12 mark my words.

It might even carry into next season as well..

  15. JMN Says:

It is like paying to go see the same bad movie over and over again. Fans in this city revolt by not going to the games and selling their tickets to opposing teams fans.

  16. billy buckaroo Says:

    Lets see who’s coming-
    Teddy Bridgewater
    Brian Hoyer
    Matt Ryan
    Kirk Cousins
    Jay Cutler
    Andy Dalton
    Matthew Stafford
    Cam Newton
    Aaron Rodgers
    Drew Brees

  17. csidedave Says:

Completely explains why McCown looked so good in camp.

  18. DallasBuc Says:

When hasn’t a team looked at the Bucs and said “hey, we can get right on this team!”
    2007 or 2008?

  19. G8rbuc13 Says:

Buc1987…I agree with you and that is what pisses me off so much. No NFL defense should ever be this bad especially when you have an All Pro DT, Pro Bowl caliber LB and highly paid and drafted secondary with two Pro Bowl players.

How can you have all of that, a supposed defensive coach and still be on pace to put up the worst defensive effort in NFL history? Not to mention being the first team since WWII to be down 38-0 at home at halftime? I’ve loved the Bucs since the Yucks but I don’t know how much longer I can keep watching this garbage.

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Glennon is the only NFL QB that can’t play against the Buc defense…..except in practice and i believe that is why we start slow……Our offense practices against a very weak defense and when they get in a game it takes a half to adjust.

  21. port richey george Says:

bad news for the bucs. the team they are playing next also wears purple jerseys. hopefully the QB won’t be taking a 3 step drop.

  22. DallasBuc Says:

Just about everyone, present media included, assumed this team would put out a competetive and respectable product by virtue of Lovie Smith standing on the sideline as HC. They ignored all the glaring signs of failure and ineptitude that Schiano or Morris would have been crucified mercilessly for. Buc fans and local media deserve this sht show because they trusted blindly and refused to look at the obvious.

  23. Ray Rice Says:

    @ JOE

“Guessing pretty well. If the quarterback is unloading the ball in less than three seconds, pretty much impossible for any d-lineman to touch him.”

How the hell did you come to that conclusion??? WTF! Rodgers, Brees, Manning, etc… all have faster releases than Flacco and somehow they get sacked. They all do 3 step drops too. How the FUK did anyone on that defense grade good. And no he did not 3 step drop all game. Don’t give me that $hit! So you are calling the roll out bomb for a TD a 3 step drop? Amongst many other plays where he just dropped back and slinged it. FUKN excuses again.

  24. Buddhaboy Says:

yeah, with the amount of talent we have, this is a joke. We have big name players.

No reason for this defense to be this horrific. And make no mistake, they are awfull.

At this point, what is worse? The front 7 or the back 7? The front 7 cant pressure the quarterback in passing situations. And the back 7 cant defend anything.

So sick of being the Jags of the NFC. Year in year out we get freaking turd coaches, and these players just stink. They need to start over with a new group of turds.

Remember Dominik saying that they like to draft team captains. How has that worked out. Good god. this is beyond comical

  25. stevek Says:

Schiano should’ve been granted a 3rd year to turn this around.

Clearly, starting over is working so well..

The Bucs should be ashamed of themselves. I don’t know what’s worse: the uniforms, or the sad suckers wearing them?

  26. buctebow Says:

Well at least we will assist the Vikings in determining if Bridgewater has any value, because if he can’t perform well against the Bucs, he is not an NFL QB.

  27. Zam Says:

I’d love a team to refund your ticket if they don’t win. Can you imagine?

  28. RealityCheck Says:

    $250+

  29. Brent Says:

Thanks for the good info Joe. At this point in guessing Lovie is going to get another year no matter what and this whole season will be blamed on new system and players poor fit. Even though Lovie had control of off season draft and a record horde in fa. It’s obviously a lot of talk and bs. Basically, he will get a mulligan. Just gotta hope Lovie can turn it around sooner than later and the rebuilding project is quick. Another strike against Glazers for this hire. Also, if d continues to struggle Frazier has to go and Guru take over this is movies baby now. 2 years and gone for Lovie if we’re not 8-8 by end of next year though!

The bucs are not worth a good beer

  31. WalkdaPlank Says:

GMC would have to be taking quite a few hits from Tanard Jackson’s bong to want to come back to this dump of a franchise.

  32. NJBucsFan Says:

Antiquated system and horrible head coach.

  33. tickrdr Says:

IMHO, the two main roles for the head coach are:

    1) Choose the best players from the current roster and potential draft picks, as well as potential free agents available; both with respect to the starting lineups, as well as the backups and PS.
    2) Once that is done, then offensive and defensive schemes are implemented, taught to the players and then honed over time to improve their individual play, as well as their gelling into a cohesive team.

So, with respect to role # 1:
Has Lovie Smith chosen the best players for this roster overall, and then the best starters?
    Without comment, I offer:
Jamon Meredith — backup tackle Colts
Davin Joseph — starting RG Rams
Donald Penn — starting LT Raiders
Jeremy Zuttah — starting C Ravens
My memory may be inaccurate, but these were all released or traded PRIOR to training camp/OTAs/preseason.
Was Casillas better than Lansanah in TC/preseason?
Was Tim Wright given any chance to compete at TE?
While Patton has been OK, was Eric Page given an adequate opportunity?
Louis Murphy was our best receiver in preseason, hurt but cut too.
Josh McCown was signed and named the starter before the first pass was thrown?
Maybe he needed all of his guys to run his system, but……..?

    With respect to role #2:
Has Lovie Smith “coached them up”. I do agree they have gotten better since the start of the season, but are they playing smart, disciplined football; or do they show lack of discipline, stupid penalties, poor tackling and fundamentals, disorganization, poor clock management, and unimaginative play-calling?

    Again without comment, I offer:
Mike Evans gets “stripped” of a sure TD in exhibition by carrying the ball on his “inside” hand.
Illegal procedure, illegal shift, and illegal formation penalties.
Delay of game penalties not the fault of the QB.
Available timeouts not being judiciously spent.
An illegal hands to the facemask on defense in OT, after a stop on 3rd and 10.
Ridiculous interceptions thrown by our “veteran” QB.
So, you decide: are we a well-coached team?
If so, tell me which individuals are playing BETTER than last year, with the obvious exception of a certain gangly QB!

I threw my season’s pass along with the necklace thingy out in the end zone last season. The crowd roared with applause. That was a fun night. The Panthers game.

The thing is with Ray Jay. There is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many fans that DON’T even watch the game while they are there. I don’t even know why they go to the game. You can walk up to random fans walking around the inside of building at any given time during the game and ask them what the score is and they will have no clue. That’s no lie either. There is SOOOOOOOOO many groups of people just standing around shooting the sh*t and not even watching the game That’s any game too. That’s the 1st, 2nd , 3rd or 4th qrtr. That’s the Bucs fan base.

Think I’m lying? Look around next time your there. Look for how many people are not even watching the game. It’s into the 1000’s. Hell I noticed it during week 1. People just standing around in a group for 20 minutes to a 1/2 hour shooting the sh*t not once even looking at the game or the score. That’s Tampa fans. People shopping for jersey’s and merchandise mid game. I could go on and on. There is hardly any passion for the Bucs anymore when I go there. It was only week 1 too. It’s disgusting.

There’s passion on this site for the Bucs. Not at Ray Jay anymore though.

  35. Louis Friend Says:

    @Buc1987

About a hundred posters keep this site feeling juiced with energy. That’s it. There aren’t many diehard Bucs fans left. Even I’m sorely tested this year to walk out for good. I’m coming close to walking away out of disgust.

  36. phil Says:

I’m just glad I don’t have to suffer this week watching them. After 3 weeks in I was already the season was over. I just hope we don’t do anything to screw up our draft position. It looks like both Oakland & Jacksonville are trying to win so I’m hopeful we can slide down the chart and land the number one pick.

  37. denverbucfan Says:

All I could think as I was watching the Ravens nightmare, I wish I could have been there so I could wave my Bucs jersey in the air on the way down to the first row, where I would throw it onto the field…
Then I would walk out. Exhorting all bucs fans to do the same.

Send a message to Bucs owners that I’m not going to take this garbage…
Been a fan since ’77, season tix many years in both old and new stadiums, NEVER have I seen such a disgrace.

Losing is one thing, yeah yeah give the coach some time… BUT this team is hands down the worst I’ve ever seen. Record setting blowouts. 56-0 in the third, 38-0 to start the 2nd half. LUDICROUS!
