Through Two Games, Fitzpatrick Is MVP

September 16th, 2018

402 yards!

Is there a better football player on the Buccaneers roster right now? The alone-in-first-place Buccaneers?

Not a chance. Ryan Fitzpatrick is playing out of his mind for any NFL QB, let alone a guy who entered this season winning 40 percent of his 119 career starts.

You saw what Fitzpatrick did in New Orleans, winning NFC Player of the Week honors. Then Fitzpatrick dropped another offensive explosion today against the Eagles, ringing up another four touchdowns and 402 yards and completing 81 percent of his passes.

Joe asked Fitzpatrick on Thursday whether he felt he had found his prime in the Buccaneers offense. Was this the fit of his career? Fitzpatrick was calm and cool when he said he is the very best he’s ever been as a quarterback whether people could see it or not.

All that experience — physical, mental and his surroundings — had come together to get him where he is, he said.

Man, Fitzpatrick was not kidding.

As Joe has written, it’s not rare for a QB to find his stride late in his career. And it seems Fitz is doing that at just the right time.

Bring on that porous Steelers defense next week!

Told you non-believers all offseason the Bucs beat the Eagles at home, it’s just the way it is!

  2. WutdaBucisthis Says:

    Proud BUCS fan here

  3. Rod Munch Says:

Fitz is the league MVP right now. I’m as big of a Jameis backer as there is, but if Fitz plays like this then he plays until his beard falls off. I love it!

  4. Buc4evr Says:

FitzMagic! Now excuse me while I have a heart attack.

  5. cmurda Says:

Big win. Hats off to our young corners. MJ had a few plays that hurt but by and large, he was decent. Carlton was better than decent. I like the ceiling with that guy. Fitz is earning that Magic.

  6. Jeagan1999 Says:

    Believe in FITZMAGIC you muggles!

  7. Buc68 Says:

Fitz is not the Bucs MVP through two games. He’s the league MVP.

  8. Tampabucfan88 Says:

Hey I’m agree that fitz need to start but too everyone who says we need to trade Winston needs to stop us guys are hilariously stupid butgood game byfitz

  9. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Corners played great and fitz is playing at an NFL record pace and Pitts defense is horrible

  15. jmarkbuc Says:

    Many Props to the D!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. PSLBob Says:

Man, after OJ coughed it up and Mike Evan dropped one right in his hands, I thought the receivers were going to drop a notch. Not so, both came back strong, although Mike tried to do too much and coughed it up on a play that likely would have led to a score and put the game out of reach. Overall I think the D backs played very well today. Kicking still a little suspect.

  17. Mike in LOL Says:

Didn’t joe have an article from some idiot media member saying we’d have the #1 pick in the draft next year?? I was telling my buddy about that and he didn’t even believe it but man are we proving all the haters wrong!!!

  18. The Buc Realist Says:

    Defense closed out the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Bucsdelight (f.k.a. Ghastly Bucs) Says:

America’s QB Fitzpatrick is living it up. I hope he just hit his stride. If he did, hold on season, here we come.

  20. PSLBob Says:

I remember when the BUCS were the hear-attack kids in close, low scoring games. Now it’s the same with high scoring games. I’d like them to get a substantial lead and be able to hold it. But, this is the NFL and most teams can move the ball when they have to throw on nearly every down.

  21. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Sorry Rod, I wish he was but PATRICK MAHOMES is the league MVP right now. Fitz is a close 2nd

  22. Bucsdelight (f.k.a. Ghastly Bucs) Says:

Evans has got to be better though. He had that drop pass being wide open. Come on bro

  23. PSLBob Says:

    heart attack not hear attack.

  24. DB55 Says:

Fun fact: Bucs ran the ball for 44 yards on 23 attempts.

  26. Doctor Stroud Says:

  27. Geno Says:

If you watch what Fitz did compared to what Mahomes has done, I like Fitz. But you stats guys would pick Mahomes because of the total TDs.

  28. ATrain Says:

What is Winston going to bring us

He cant hit the long ball

    Forces the ball

He had a very strong arm but this is the same Offense as last year except QB

  29. bigdaddio Says:

On local sports radio last week somebody made a parody “Oh Oh Oh, Fitzmagic. Nice throw.” It’s cheezy af but I love it. If anybody has a link would appreciate it.

Not 100% sure, but I thought I heard it played at the stadium going into tv break after another touchdown.

  30. Rob Says:

This offense is so incredibly refreshing to watch! Finally a quarterback who doesn’t make boneheaded decisions; finally an offense that actually looks like a professional unit. 1st QB in history with these stats over the first two games! The Fitzmagic has made me a believer again!

  31. XpfcWintergreen2 Says:

I don’t care who , coaches or players, did something less than the perfect.

The Buccaneers TOOK OUT THAT PHILLY TEAM! ….. You know, only the reigning Super Bowl Champs!

No one will be working on Monday morning!… People will bouncing off the walls all over Tampa Bay! ……. And the rest of us will be dancing in the streets!!

I know, one win does not a season make!
    ___________
    Go Bucs!!!!!!

  32. D-Rome Says:

I liked that Fitzpatrick kept going back to OJ Howard after that initial mistake.

  33. Vincente Says:

I honestly thought they would lose this week. I’m here to say I was wrong and have never been happier to be proven wrong. Thank you Bucs, great job.

  34. lambchop Says:

Bucs, Bengals, and Dolphins so far are all 2-0. Yea, I’m flabbergasted like Tiki Barber.

  35. MadMax Says:

Stick with him! Maybe see how JW does for a game or two sitting behind him. If he he gets all worked up, trade him. If he doesnt, he’s team first!

  36. Howard Cosell Says:

Holy Crap Joe!!! Howard actually think the Bucs can beat the Steelers now. This is madness!!!

    No.

    THIS IS TAAMPA!!

  37. PSLBob Says:

Disagree ATrain. Last year OJ and Godwin were rookies, and Dirk was calling predictable plays. Monken is attacking, attacking, attacking. Whether Jameis could hit the throws Fitz has been making is another story.

  38. stvcl Says:

Man…how can you possibly pull him if he stays this hot? Record breaking performances that no other quarterback in NFL history has done. OUR quarterback has just gone down in NFL history! Let that sink in. Unless he has a major collapse you have to play him.

  39. Bucsdelight (f.k.a. Ghastly Bucs) Says:

    OJ looked good out there

  40. Rod Munch Says:

ShutTheBucUp – Fitz beat the Saints and defending champs and has nearly the same stats, more impressive than beating the Chargers and Steelers, so Fitz gets the nod. But Mahomes has been super impressive as well, but the vet always gets the nod over the youngster if it’s that close. Still, the fact that Fitz and Mahomes are at the head of that conversation right now, you could have made some good money in Vegas making that bet before the season.

  41. Couch Fan Says:

I cant disagree. I still think Jameis is the better QB but as long as Fitz keeps playing like this, hes untouchable as the starter.

  42. Resurrection of Fitz Says:

Winston is probably wondering if Fitzmagic will let home play this year.

Fitzmagic delivered the TAMPA Special today.
    DJack TOUCHDOWN
    OJ TOUCHDOWN
    Godwin TOUCHDOWN
    Evans TOUCHDOWN

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  47. PSLBob Says:

I’m still saying, two games in and a 2-0 start, Jameis starts Week 6 against Atlanta. The week after the bye. Although, as the games roll on, I’m filling less confident about that prediction.

  48. Rod Munch Says:

No one is benching Fitz until he has a couple of bad games – but I’d fully expect Winston to play at some point this year and took look amazing in this offense that isn’t just Dirk calling a run up the middle on every first down. Anyways enjoy the ride while it last, and if Winston doesn’t play this year it’s because we win the SB, and even as a Winstontruther I’m A-OK with that.

  49. Marlow Says:

Regardless of next week’s outcomes JW sits! Ride this as long as you can. It’s lightning in a bottle.

  54. BoJim Says:

Where are the knobs that constantly say Ryan will fail? I know you want him to so you can say “Hey, I called it.” Yea yea. Look at the receivers. Blah blah blah. Go away. Real fans are happy. Ryan’s the QB right now and playing his heart out. Deal with it.

  55. Dooshlarue Says:

I guess Fitz will suck next week huh?

  56. Walter Says:

    Where’s T-Max???

McCoy looking good this year, huh punk??

It seems all he needed was some competent lineman next to him.

  57. Howard Cosell Says:

McCoy was a badarse today no doubt

  58. JabooBuc Says:

For all of you that routinely come on this site and bash Jason Licht, please do us all a favor and keep quiet for a little while. The reason this team is 2-0 is because they are a matchup nightmare for most teams. They have a lot of young talent that is finally maturing. This team was bad for a lot of years so they had to build it back up. That takes time and patience.

Let’s all hope this continues because now it’s on the coaches.

  59. firethecannons Says:

Awesome win, I am still recovering from 4th quarter excitement, my heartbeat is rapid and I am having trouble breathing but who cares right! awesome win!!!!!!!!!Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!

  60. lambchop Says:

    @Couch Fan,

Thus far, Winston has been a statistical darling. I don’t care for stats. I want to eat Wssssssss. Get this, Fitzmagic has stats, wins, and no turnovers (today’s INT was not his fault). He doesn’t throw into double and triple coverage, he doesn’t hold onto the ball too long, and he doesn’t think it’s a one man offense out there where each and every play has to have his stamp on it. Oh and he doesn’t have fumble-itis.

Overall, Winston would probably look good in this offense, but would that translate to wins? I’m not willing to bet on it. He’s very talented, but If I had to pick one guy to play a game to get us in the playoffs, it’s going to be Fitz. With Winston, I’m always waiting for that one or two bone-headed plays that kill drives or lose games.

  61. Bucsdelight (f.k.a. Ghastly Bucs) Says:

    Statistical Darling?

  62. Rod Munch Says:

Wow, you guys complaining about our kicker… did you watch this Packers-Vikings game?

  63. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I wish I had kept track of the National Media predictions each week so far as the Bucs are concerned. I have a feeling they’ll either get on the bandwagon or be wrong most of the time.

So, Joe, I think you did an article a while back about what team who lose the first few games end up doing by the end of the season? Can we see one on teams that start 2-0?

  64. Bucsdelight (f.k.a. Ghastly Bucs) Says:

Look America’s QB and NFC Offensive Player of the Week, Fitzpatrick is on a roll. I really do hope he hit his stride, it will benefit us for a few years.

  65. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Rod Munch Says
“Wow, you guys complaining about our kicker… did you watch this Packers-Vikings game?”

Can you honestly say he makes more kicks than Patrick Murray did? Two games in and he already has missed more kicks than Murray did in 12 games last year.

  66. FairMinded Says:

Nerves of STEEL this man. League MVP to this point not just team. Keep it going boys! Bring on MNF!

  67. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Next week will be the big test. I have a feeling the Fitz bubble will burst against the Steelers. I will gladly eat crow if we beat them.

It will have to be a very high scoring game.

  68. Geno Says:

Plus our 2 wins against NFC opponents!

  69. Rod Munch Says:

Bonzai – It’s game 2, I wouldn’t panic yet. Anywho Roberto had a great training camp and preseason with the Chargers, he’s available.

  70. Buc68 Says:

First Fitz is playing at MVP level and you have to go with him. That said Winston is a better QB. He was better in preseason with the back ups. Fitz nor Winston looked that good last year. The major difference is the play of the offensive line. If they continue to play like this with these weapons we have 3 QBs that will look elite. I don’t see anyway Fitz doesn’t keep playing at a high level provided OL is this good. I’m a Winston guy but you don’t interrupt winning and it’s his fault for being suspended.

  71. ATrain Says:

    PSL

So the OC is being more aggressive

But how could the OC be more aggressive of Winston can’t hit the long ball

That sets up freezing the safetys which made double coverage difficult

    Winston can’t do it

  72. Couch Fan Says:

    lambchop

Winston has never had this kind of team around him. Wins is a TEAM effort. This TEAM has not had this kind of developed talent in a long time. I am happy for Fitz, I hope he continues playing out of his mind. But basing your argument of who is a better QB because of 2 wins is a bit far fetched. Nobody, NOBODY seen Fitz playing like this before the season started. Not even the haters, even though they will pretend they did. Fitz has never shown this kind of play before. I still think he will come back down to earth at some point and Winston will retake his starting job. But as I said, for now Fitz is untouchable.

  73. lambchop Says:

    @Bonzai,

Posters here keep talking about Pitts crappy D. All it takes is one game for their D to click. Not to mention, they have a loaded offense. Sound familiar? We can win that game if special teams and defense show up. I don’t think these 4th quarter disappearing acts can beat a Ben Roethlisberger team if he has the ball last.

If we can start hot, we need to finish hot. Our RBs have to be able to get a first down in the 4th even if it’s predictable 3 straight running plays. Quizz is a waste. I’d like to see Barber get more touches early and get Wilson some more looks. RoJo pick really hurts right about now. Hopefully he get with it soon.

  74. ATrain Says:

    Couch

Winston has not had this kind of team around him???

    How is New this year
    The center

  75. Rod Munch Says:

The Winston haters are like the mentally deranged Trump haters, everything is about hatred. We win a game and instead of being happy we won and having a great time, it’s “SEE WINSTON SUCKS”…

Do me a favor Winston haters and go hold a midnight vigil in the middle of 275, just don’t bring any candles and dress all in black.

    God bless.

  76. Lord Cornelius Says:

Started him in fantasy and don’t see that changing lmao this is F*cking amazing GO BUCS!!!

  77. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Fitz is playing lights out top 3 qb in tbe league right now but where were the SJWs on the eagles in bennett & long? Bucs prolly favored against steelers

  78. SB Says:

HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!! How about all of you “0 and 3” prognosticators????

I am also looking squarely at YOU Joe!

  79. Tim Fasano Says:

For several years the Bucs have been putting the players in place for a championship team. They have even upgraded their coaching staff and the D is starting to look like a Mike Smith defense. The suspension of Winston was a blessing. Fitz has the maturity and smarts (Harvard and all that) to make this system work. Fitz was a late bloomer and the Bucs benefited from it. I was here in 1976 when they started and I have never been more confident of this team, and that includes the Super Bowl year. Go Bucs!

  80. SB Says:

If we could put Fitz’s brain in Winston’s body??????????????????

  81. Mike Johnson Says:

I never heard or read Joe sayin our Bucs were going to be 0-3. Where did you get that lie from…Trump?

  82. lambchop Says:

    @Couch Fan,

It’s not the TEAMs fault he throws into double, triple coverage. It’s not the TEAMs fault he holds the ball too long. Even if your receivers are covered every single play, you gotta get rid of the ball rather than take a sack or force a throw.

He doesn’t grasp the mental aspect of how his bad decisions can alter a game (team moral, points of TO, etc.). Until he doesn’t figure that out, he’s going to be a Dan Marino type. All hype, no rings.

I want him to succeed, but he needs time to learn the art of being a QB. Fitz has had flashes and he’s made a ton of mistakes on his past teams, but he’s at a point where he can be a great mentor to Winston if Winston is willing to change his game.

  83. NPR SageBoy Says:

    Jameis who?

  84. Couch Fan Says:

A-Train, I said developed talent. Who is new? The rebuild D-Line? Last years rookies are playing much better. Come on man use your brain here. This is a much better team than last year.

  85. Cgmaster27 Says:

Atrain. Dont discount who’s calling plays. Jameis looked this good in the pre season as well. In terms of talent , Jameis is better, but fitz is playing out of his mind right now. Fitz keeps starting no matter what if he contiues to play this way.

  86. IsrBuc Says:

What the hell happened at that pc???

  87. Couch Fan Says:

Cant disagree with that lambchop. Not saying Winston is perfect. He has a lot of maturing to do on and off the field. I’d still take him all day every day over Fitz though. Maybe Fitz changes my mind with his continued excellent play. We’ll see.

  88. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Cgmaster. Can you look me in the eyes and tell me jameis wouldn’t have more than 1 interception after these first 2 games?

  89. ATrain Says:

Ok Winston doesn’t throw to the defense

Godwin played as well at the end of season as now
    OJ was playing well

You don’t think the long ball has a lot to do with the success of this team
    Use your head

If Winston can’t hit DJax to back off the secondary DJax is no use

Winston could not hit the long ball PERIOD

you can love a player but don’t make excuses

  90. orlbucfan Says:

Bucs will win next week. The Offense is developing into the offensive version of the great Tampa Two D that won the SB. They totally explode and whew……!

  91. Dave Says:

    Safeties-
Evans and Whitehead are here to stay for a long time.

The CBs are progressing nicely too

  92. lambchop Says:

Apart from the OL, really we only added Ryan Jensen. Yea, he’s probably had a huge impact on the OLs nastiness, but I think the offensive turn around has a lot to do with how we had too many new pieces last year. Too many parts changed. DJax, OJ, Godwin, balancing DJax and Hump’s reps, Doug Martin not having a comeback type of season. This team has got continuity with mostly the same offense. Plus Todd Monken (however many plays he’s calling a game) is a very aggressive OC. Huge change in swag and keeping the D on its toes.

We were paper champs last year, now I think we’re on our way to being a legit playoff team barring injuries.

  93. Kansas95Buc Says:

2 words, Play Calling! Todd Monken is one gutsy guy to make the offense work. Guys excited minus some plays but the team as whole played with heart, when is the last time we seen that?

  94. VegasBuc Says:

    Bucsfanman Says:
    Where’s the “0-3” peeps?!
    We have weapons. BELIEVE!!!
    ———————————
Exactly what I was thinkin. All of em’ said 0-3 once the schedule came out. smh

  95. Noel Bello Says:

Crotch grabbing Jameis Crab Legs must be sweating bullets.

  96. Mike in LOL Says:

They callin him Fitzgerald on the post game… cmon man

  97. Lucious Selmon Says:

Who saw Fitz at his postgame presser decked out like Dexter Jackson?

  98. Trench War Says:

At this rate Fitz could put up 6000 yards passing this season but we all know he’ll never get the chance to finish because the squeaky wheel Jameis crowd will be screaming for Jameis after his suspension is over. They’d rather put Jameis back in there just to prove some point rather than going with the hot arm that gives this team a legitimate chance to win. 800 passing yards in two games with a combined 75 points. That’s getting it done and we are winning. One INT (that should have been a fumble by OJ) with NO QB fumbles while averaging 37.5 PPG. Jameis averaged 19 PPG last season. Fitz makes good decisions without taking unnecessary risk. It feels good to WIN!

  99. Dewey Selmon Says:

Next week will be the big test? What was going into NO and beating the defending SB champs? NO ONE predicted a 2-0 start.

  100. IsrBuc Says:

    Watch his p.c

  101. Not there yet Says:

Loved the win for the simple fact that their fans can’t act like they’ve been there before but I guess I understand because they really haven’t. Love how the team is playing but it’s not how you start it’s how you finish. We need to work on game management, we have to have more than the long ball because it will get taken away eventually. As long as we are in contention for the playoffs in November and December I’ll be happy.

  102. VegasBuc Says:

Winston is the future of this team as the REAL fans know. Fitz wasn’t this good last year either, but with another year under the system, Fitz, Jameis, and the offensive weapons have all come together. It’ll be the same no matter who is QBing after week 4 cause of the better understanding and more experience of the offensive scheme.

  103. IsrBuc Says:

@licious me but not from the beginning. I thought i ate a mushroom

  104. Couch Fan Says:

A-Train your whole argument seems to be based on the fact that “Winston cant hit the deep ball” which was true, last year, however you seem to be failing to recognize all the other changes such as how bad the defense was last year and how many blown leads they had. I could give other examples but something tells me you would ignore anything other than “Winston cant hit the deep ball” argument. So ill let it be.

  105. lambchop Says:

    @Not there yet,

Let em take the long ball away, we’ll carve the middle up like an ice sculpture. Pick your poison really. And there is nobody faster than DJax on any defense. So, I like his chances of scoring since we can actually get the ball in his hands the way he likes it – in stride.

  106. SB Says:

All of you that are doubting Fitz are not realizing that Fitz has NEVER had this type of Stability in his career. Never had this type of weapons with Preparation from snap one in the offseason.
To degrade what Fitz has done in ANY facet is just ignorant.

  107. DILLIGAF Says:

    America’s Quarterback, Ryan Fitzmagic.

  108. Bucsdelight (f.k.a. Ghastly Bucs) Says:

Winston was pretty inaccurate last year as well. Will have to see when he comes back, but has mentioned before. IF Fitz is playing this way the next game, I don’t think it is possible to not let him start more games.

  109. Lucious Selmon Says:

    IsrBuc

    A Fitzmagic mushroom? LOL

  110. cmurda Says:

It’s common not to think of the O Line because those are the unsung men but Jensen is an absolute beast and his style will rub off on the rest of the line. Overall the line did a great job of pass protecting but the run blocking could be better. That’s a tough defense in Philly and we more than held our own. This is exciting and I plan on enjoying every minute of our 2-0 start.

  111. Dooshlarue Says:

    Dear Jameis…..

  112. ATrain Says:

    Couch
You seem to forget all the miss chances in the red zone last year by Winston

    You forget the turn overs

The defense has no bearing on the Offense putting up 40 points
Has Winston every put up 40?

So I guess I have some other points
But Winston Lovers what to hear nothing but Winston is the gret st

  113. Lucious Selmon Says:

    cmurda

The run blocking was horrid. I hope that’s just a reflection on the Eagles’ defense, and not what to expect next week.

  114. Trench War Says:

I agree SB. Fitz has been on a lot of talent deprived teams and has been judged unfairly for it.

  115. Tc Says:

Right now the Bucs offense is hot no matter who plays qb but fitz is “extra hot”.
Don’t forget all 3 qbs played great in the preseason. Ride fitz as long as we can and then bring in jameis when fitz comes back to earth. Don’t forget Jamie’s had a fantastic preseason and he is the future long term. Anyway we are in great shape with quality qbs. Go Bucs, go air Koetter/monken, fun to watch!

  116. Hawk Says:

The defense gave up games last year when the offense failed to give them more than a one-score cushion. In the NFL that is not a safe, even if you’re playing the Browns (OK, maybe). *This* offense is scoring enough points to sit back and say, “It doesn’t matter what our defense does!”.

  117. Couch Fan Says:

No your point is pretty much still the same. That its all Winstons fault and nobody else. LMAO. Keep rambling nonsense to me A-Train. I am enjoying the comedy aspect of this.

  118. Hawk Says:

And the *only* way that Winston does have significant play-time, is if the team has already made a decision to go in another direction. They have too much invested, and too much money is coming due, to just sit him on the bench.

  119. lambchop Says:

For people to say that Fitz was garbage on certain teams he’s played for, well so was Kurt Warner. He was atrocious as a NY Giant. A SB winning QB looked like the Arena league player he was. But, he became that same SB winning QB with the Cardinals. There’s a lot of things that go into making QBs good – system, players, etc.

Heck, until Philly went back to check why Foles was good his first go around with the Eagles, Foles played like $hit. They had to change the system to suit his game. Maybe just maybe, Todd Monken is actually calling plays that Fitz is comfortable with. I think Monken has put more trust in Fitz to make the right play. Even the smallest tweak in that sense may be the reason Fitz is playing so well.

For the Winston haters…newsflash…Winston does not suck, and hopefully will learn from his experiences this year.

And while we are talking about “learning”, maybe he can learn that making the throws and taking what is available, is the medicine to pump your team up and cement your leadership. It isn’t about “rah rah” and “eating W’s”…it is about making plays.

    Exactly Trench War.
Also.. in a side note it seems our Trench Warfare was Much improved over last week.
It was almost as if the DL realized that the rooks on the corners Had to have help and they stood up pretty well.

Warner couldn’t beat out Favre, Detmer, or Brunell in GB. So it is all relative. And when the system fits the QB, and the team has talent, something special can happen.

  123. lambchop Says:

    @mark2001,

He probably didn’t even get a fair shot, nor was he NFL-ready.

In other news, Vontae Davis retires from football at halftime while playing for the Bills. LMAO. How not to end your career 101 apparently wasn’t a class he checked into much.

  124. ATrain Says:

I also get entertainment from fans like you

Who probably sleep in their Winston jersey and see nothing else
And give excuses for everything he cant do

    Well time will tell

LOLOLOL And to think that everyone laughed at me for starting Blake Bortles!!!
He now has 3 TDs in the first half and this TD was to………….
    AUSTIN SEFARIAN JENKINS.

When Winston comes back they have to let him play . Fizpatrick is 35 years old . I was one of the guys that said he was trash , and I still think he is not a starter. We have seen this before from him in New York . He is playing good but Winston has to start he is the bucs quarter back . I think the play calling is better then last year . I don’t see to many 7 steps drop backs. I want to see Winston with the same kind of play calling if he play bad then let fizpatrick start then draft another quarter back this year . I just remember when the titans did that with Kerry Colins. He did the same thing and they bench Vince Young for him they made the playoffs. Then the next year Kerry Colins went back to being his self and he sucked. Then they put young back in he won 8 games in a row but it was to late. So Winston has to start cause look what happen to the titans they went all the way down cause of every body was so happy about Colins that they bench Vince Young the next and went with Colins. That’s what set their franchise back almost 10 years cause they traded young . So let’s not go that way put Winston back in . And by the way fizpatrick is playing with no pressure on his back from fans or the national media remember that so he is more loose the Winston plays with . A lot of people want to see Winston failed more than they want to see fizpatrick failed.

Let’s give some credit to the O line too against th best pass rush in the NFL. Barber made an awesome block on the Way vans fumble play too. Man I’ll take it all the way.

  129. ben Says:

Fritz is the man so bucs could trade Winston for a more accurate qb

Fitzmagic is the league MVP at this point while America’s Crotchgrabber And Liar is sitting at home suspended for being an idiot.

I’m usually the optimist but there is one thing that has me nervous.

This team clearly has the talent to compete for a playoff spot but there is one question still.

Is Catanazaro the guy? So last week he missed a FG that would have sealed a win…instead the poor kick let N.O. back into the game with a real shot at winning.

Then today…to miss an extra point? Did any of us want to see him in a game winning FG attempt?

To make the playoffs you have to win close games in the NFL. We have dodged two bullets after crappy kicking….we need to get that totally straightened out going forward!!!!

Fitzpatrick iis giving new meaning to term that Jamies is QB of the future.

  133. Billy Bob Says:

Yo Joe. It is time to start Yackwn about the biggest improvements in the Bucs this year. Lets start Yacken about YAC

  134. Bobby Says:

Look, Jameis looked very impressive in the pre-season. His deep ball looked much improved and his accuracy looked much better but you don’t take the guy with the hot hand off the field right now. What’s taking place is a special chemistry and you don’t change that mix until you need to. My guess is that’s going to be awhile. Smart QB’s win games. I think this will be good for Jameis.
He can see that you don’t have to be Brett Favre to win games. Aaron Rogers is actually a good QB too. With these weapons you don’t need to be a gunslinger and take unnecessary risks. Live to play another down.

  135. T REX Says:

I just want to win. Right now it is Fitz. That may change. Neither QB might be here in 2 years for all we know. But you play to win the game lol.
