What Good Teams Do

September 16th, 2018

Victory.

What a wonderful win.

And the Bucs did to the Super Bowl champs what good teams do. They punched the bully in the mouth before they knew what was coming: a 75-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick to DeSean Jackson.

Yeah, the Eagles were beat up offensively. No Alshon Jeffrey. No Mike Wallace. Mostly without Jay Ajayi. But the Bucs took advantage and made the Eagles pay.

A safety who is on the cusp of becoming one of the better players in the NFL, selling himself and his body out to help break up a fourth-down play deep in Bucs territory. That would be Justin Evans who damned near knocked himself into the middle of next week on an ugly, ferocious collision. That’s what good teams do.

The Bucs’ defense was beat up. Still, many players including backups made critical plays when plays were needed. That’s what good teams do.

The 2018 season is young. The Bucs are in first place. Alone. There is a tone of football to be played. But they served notice to the NFL today in their physical win over the Super Bowl champs.

The Bucs this season are no team to f’ with.

You got that right, Joe! Hey, at least for now. Let’s enjoy this while we can.

Bucs Defense closed out the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great Job by Coach Smitty out-coaching the eagles defensive coordinator!!!!!! Even though Coach Smitty had less talent with way less experience!!!!!!!! Hold them accountable INDEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    GO Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Jim Says:

And how about some love for Godwin? Making the catch, then dragging four Eagles for another five yards. Guy’s a warrior…

  4. Walter Says:

This team is playing with a hunger that hasn’t been seen in Tampa in a long time

Godwin and Howard are such studs.

Defense it still shaky- getting pressure but the QB slips away too much. Plus a lot of crazy wide open receivers in the middle of the field.

But a win is a win and I’ll take it. GO BUCS!

This talented young team is finally coming into its own!

2-0 feels good fo’ sho’ – with room to grow….

  7. Natebucsfan Says:

Ok win. Agree . There is room to grow. Bucs need to seal the deal, instead of these nail biters. My heart can’t take it.

  8. Jim Says:

Still needing a better run game…

Whitehead was impressive. Drafting horribly in the 2nd Rd and still surviving. That’s what good teams do. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Funny, just one paragraph in, and I already know which Joe wrote this.

  11. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

If the offensive line continues to pass block well, you simply cannot cover, Evans, Jackson, Godwin and Howard. It’s impossible!

    Agree Joe 💯💯💯.

Literally amazing that more than likely we are going to be 3-0 next Monday and at absolute worst 2-1- WOW!

    @Pickgrin

“With room to grow”. Amen brother! When Grimes and Vea regain their health think they’ll help the defense. By the end of the bye week our rookie DB’s will have a few more games under their belts and they don’t seem awed by the bright lights. I have really high hopes for all three of these guys!

Our D seems to be jelling as a team right now. I think that will continue and we’re going to peak right in time for the playoffs….and NO team will want to play us the first round….because that rapidly improving defense will still be the weakest link on a team with our offense.

Better days are here!!! The team is off to an amazing start! Still a long way to go but 2-0 is a great feeling!

I can’t wait until we get Grimes, Beckwith, Vea & Unrein in the fold on defense! Things will really get scary!

This is still all about execution but Monken is putting this offense in position to give opposing defenses headaches all day long! Once we find a consistent rushing attack, lights out! Go BUCS!!!!!!!
