I posted this once earlier, but just saying…

Janikowski was a mid-1st round pick and missed 10 kicks (68.8%) his rookie year compared to Roberto missing 9 (71%). In fact Janikowski has had 3 seasons (2000, 2005, 2013) worse than Roberto had last season.

Janikowski righted has rookie woes midway through his opening season. Aguayo struggled in August of his rookie year and the struggles were there at the end, too. Also, Janikowski quickly showed his leg strength and range; Aguayo did not. –Joe

IS it normal for the podcast to disappear from iTunes right while I was listening to it? Did joe realize that posting this early would mean less clicks for the day?

First Joe ever heard of this happening.

Did joe realize that posting this early would mean less clicks for the day?

    The exact opposite, actually.

In fact, the masses demand Ira the instant they wake on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Joe catches hell from folks in California when Ira’s pod isn’t posted… at 5 a.m. their time!

Joe, I’m not actually against what the Bucs did with Roberto but there’s some falsehoods in your statement there. Roberto improved as the season went along including special teams player of the week after that game in KC. I was just pointing out the public lynching of the team for taking a kicker in the 2nd, one of the best of all time in college, is unjustified. Janikowski was a special talent because of his huge leg – and he was always taken dramatically higher than Roberto was taken, but had there been Twitter in 2000 Janikowski would have been cut his rookie year. Also while Janikowski improved somewhat from year one to year two, he’s still had 3 full seasons where he was worse than Roberto was last year and a lot of people think Janikowski is almost a HOF level kicker.

Again Roberto didn’t give the Bucs much of a choice and they gave him plenty of chances. I still maintain he’s going to play in the league for the next decade – but perhaps the public lynching of everyone involved in this isn’t really all that justified.
