Thumbs Up From Gerald McCoy

March 10th, 2017

Happy man (and father).

Just about every Bucs fan figured the happiest guy on earth with the news of the Bucs signing speedy DeSean Jackson would be America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

He may have been. But it wasn’t like Gerald McCoy was sulking.

The stud defensive tackle explained to ESPN’s Josina Anderson what a wonderful move it was for the Bucs to sign Jackson. However, GMC may be equally happy for his son.

@JosinaAnderson: #Bucs DT Gerald McCoy to me: “Desean Jackson is a dominant deep threat. He’s my son’s favorite player in the NFL. Wld be great to have him.”

Joe can’t fathom anyone who calls himself a Bucs fan to be bummed by this move — unless you are related to Freddie Martino, Bernard Reedy, Donteaa Dye or you are such a Chris Conte hater you need several dozen hours of therapy to avoid being a menace to society.

Love the signing. Would have been a crime not to go after him.

  2. Buc believer Says:

Well since Mr. Mediocrity approves I guess that is all that matters.

  3. ARGH_M8E Says:

    He’s gonna b awesome in pewter! #W4W!

I wouldn’t be shocked if we scooped up another burner in the draft. This also works out just as i hoped, because I’m a BIG Zay Jones guy and our 1st rounder is freed up for bpa. He’s not the fastest but has enough speed & pleanty of juice!!! Please get this guy if he’s not gone on day 1! Still hearing John Ross talk, wouldn’t mind him a bit – learn behind a vet clone. We have options now tho, and we know it!!!!! Keep adding them pieces JL, and great job big fella!!!!!!!! Love what’s happening in TB…… love it!!!!!!!

  4. DallasBuc Says:

    Yes, ALL that matters?…

  5. Destinjohnny Says:

    We had no choice
We u can’t draft wideouts well that’s what u do

  6. Lunchbox Says:

If we draft a WR, which I believe we should, we could get one in the 2nd or 3rd round, like Dede Westbrook. He’s nearly a clone of Djax size and speed-wise and could be Desean’s eventual replacement. Watching his highlights, I never saw him get caught from behind. Cooper Kupp is another possibility, although not as fast. In the 1st, my pick would be either Cook, McCaffrey, Howard, or the top rated Center on their board, whichever falls to us. Too many playmakers to need to move up. And if the pick is McCaffrey or a Center, we maybe could trade back a few spots and pick up an extra pick or two.

  7. Jonzey Says:

Pick Cook in 1st and speedy wr in 22nd you can groom him under Jackson and put him in the slot

  8. Jonzey Says:

We need to get a safety and work on our line in free agents now

  9. Jonzey Says:

We need to get a safety and work on our line in free agents now.

  10. Jonzey Says:

    Meant 2nd round wr

  11. Destinjohnny Says:

Adarius Stewart is a stud. Has courage is tough quick out of cuts.
He will be a pro bowler in year 3.
If we can get him in the 3rd….

  12. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

The speed and YAC capability of Jackson instantly makes us a better team, and it also improves our running game.
One has to wonder who in the Redskins organization was responsible for their salary cap hell ?
They literally almost lost their entire team.

  13. tnew Says:

He should be happier with the Chris Baker signing. Watch his video, that guy demands double teams. He collapses the interior line on 1v1 better than anyone the bucs have had in a while.

  14. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

    I’m feeling that Ardarius Stewart.

  15. Louis Says:

GMC is gonna have some fun now …10+ sacks for him this year…Baker could very well make him a viable hall of fame player because teams can only double team one of them…

  16. Dooshlarue Says:

    Ha Ha………
GMC isn’t his son’s favorite player?
Somebody ain’t gettin no ice cream.

  17. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Tnew Chris Baker about to outshine 93. Fameis was rallying the team pre game his rookie season and this guy was huffin and puffin walking back and forth on the outskirt it told me everything I needed to know about 93. Well compensated and can still have jealousy in ya heart is mind boggling to me so in my opinion he not all over joyed about Baker coming in board.

  18. tmaxcon Says:

    Louis

Every year we hear this is the year gmc gets his ten sacks every year she disappears when it matters most. 7 years of me first meaningless sacks and disappearing acts. Gmc is not and never will be a hall of fame player he’s a seven year career loser.

  19. USFBUC Says:

I just hope Baker is doing a ton of dancing this year

  20. Buc1987 Says:

Louis…all of that really? HOF? McCoy?

I think GMC’s about to be exposed!

  21. tmaxcon Says:

Gmc has already exposed the nut huggers and choir boy Patrol are just in denial thier favorite son is a pathetic fraud.

  22. Buc1987 Says:

Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook has adjusted the Texans’ odds from 40-1 to 20-1 to win Super Bowl LII after they traded away Osweiler.

  23. James Says:

This is nothing in that video that suggest Ardarius Stewart is quick out of his cuts. He ran a bunch of button hooks. I do like that he’s tough and runs through tackles but those aren’t NFL DBs or LBs. I think it’s a stretch to call him a Pro Bowler.

  24. FireJoe Says:

We aren’t even done yet in free agency and we already are 2 studs better! The rest of the league is on notice! The Pirates Are Coming… The Pirates AreComing…
    ARGHHHHHHH……. Go Bucs!!

  25. JabooBuc Says:

Quick question to everyone: is there a bigger DBag on tv than Adam Schefter?

  26. Change is here Says:

You people that hate on McCoy whom every single coach in the league game plans around shouldn’t be allowed to watch football because you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. One of if not the best DT in the league and that’s not opinion that’s a fact known by everyone in the league.

Go watch soccer because knowledge of football is sorely lacking.

  27. Stu Says:

Not a fan of the DJAX Part II signing.

    Hope he proves me wrong.

  28. tmaxcon Says:

    Change is here

Please reference on field plays where she actually made a play that mattered or resulted in a game changing play…. All you gmc losers every talk about is meaningless crap his peers like him, coaches plan for him, meaningless pro bowls etc…. Name me 5 impact plays that your hero has made in the last seven years should not be very difficult given he’s such a beast. I’ll give you the ankle grab on Ryan so you have four to come up with

  29. BigHogHaynes Says:

A seven year career loser…..a pathetic fraud… How much of that would you put at the front door of the Tampa Bay Bucs Front Office!? Has that wideout from Cleveland signed yet? Let’s continue to Build A Wall…but not in Mexico dumb ass!!

  30. tmaxcon Says:

    Bighog

The results speak for themselves gmc is the leader of the losing culture and a locker room cancer with a smile…

  31. Buc1987 Says:

tmaxcon…I don’t even need to name any plays.

I’m not a GMC hater, but he doesn’t pass the eye test for me.

All this praise heaped on him by fans, certain players, coaches etc. I don’t see it. He doesn’t pass my eye test. So for someone to come in here and say ” you don’t know football”when it comes to watching this man play the game. Makes me SMH.

Apparently there’s lots of Buc fans out there that watch GMC actually play and come away from it saying “that guy’s a stud”. REALLY? I mean HONESTLY?

  32. tmaxcon Says:

I’m with you 87 perception is not reality. Bucs fans like smiles and feel good stories more than winning football players.

  33. Buccfan37 Says:

But those highlight reels on YouTube submitted on Baker sure looked exciting, like a bulldozer. Got me wanting to see his action with the Bucs.

  34. Bucsfanman Says:

All I have to say regarding GMC and the signing of Baker is that this line, AS A WHOLE, had better start getting pressure on QBs. The excuses are running out. We got little help from the Ayers signing and Spence looks like he MAY be that guy. Put up or shut up!
I like the signings so far. It puts us at an advantage come draft day to NOT have to draft for need.

  35. Bucsfanman Says:

@tmax- You are so focused on GMC, and that’s fine. This year, lets not give any free passes to the rest of these guys OK? We didn’t get much from GMC, McDonald, Ayers, Spence (X2), Smith, or the other ghosts at DE.
No more free passes. Whether they smile or not, the expectations still have to be there. I’ll start calling players “beasts” when they earn it on the field!
    NO FREE PASSES!

  36. SOEbuc Says:

I would’ve thought is was Baker after I read the headline.

  37. tmaxcon Says:

    Bucsfanman

I agree 100%…. Free passes and the love of mediocre players has always puzzled me when it comes to bucs fans

  38. Ysosyria Says:

GMC out with a hand injury after the thumbs up, expected return 6-8 wks

  39. tmaxcon Says:

    Bucsfanman

I’ll say one thing viagra overdose victims are extremely thankful that cancer93 pre game speech saves lives. I’m convinced that meaningless pro bowl picture Joe uses to death is the new cure for constipation. She might not help the bucs on the field but you have to appreciate the advancement in medical treatments she is assisting with

  40. Bucsfan951 Says:

Relax gentlemen. Tmaxipad always goes back to the argument “give me specific examples of when he dominated” as if anyone has time to sit down and break down game tape. I’m sure McCoy layed pipe to his ex wife years ago and he’s just mad at the world now. McCoy has been voted in the top 100, by his peers no less, the past 3-4 seasons and has been a top 2-3 d tackle in those 3-4 years. That’s pretty ok in my book! He may not make splash play after splash play but that doesn’t mean he’s not a good player. In my opinion, I think you should see a psychologist and work through the problems you have.

  41. Bucsfanman Says:

@tmax- I’ve maintained this for a while now: Sir, you have issues!!!! LOL!

  42. tmaxcon Says:

    Bucsfan951

I always ask for specific plays and dumbasses like yourself always go back to the meaningless BS rants about peers and meaningless pro bowls… Glad I’m still in your head loser.

  43. BigHogHaynes Says:

    Well said 951!

  44. Dreambig Says:

I am not a expert player analyist like the GMC haters who know more then the rest of the NFL, but if you google Gerald McCoy highlights and watch a few, for some mystical reason he appears to be a decent player. I am not smart enough to determine which of all of those plays (and there several multiples of 5 in the highlights) are meaningless. I guess its just me. Go figure!

  45. Mike Johnson Says:

GMC haters really don’t understand football. Ok..I get it. they watch it for the sensasionalism and end zone dances. McCoy can’t be handled by one defender people. He’s always doubled and often out manuveurs those doubles. Coaches in the know? Know GMC is tough to handle. Thats why he gets all those votes yr after yr. Now he’s really starting to get help. Baker is going to be a big surprise for you’s that never seen him ball. He brings it. Nice FA pickup Bucs!

  46. LargoBuc Says:

So if you look at every DT in the league and assess wether the sacks they produced met your standards of “game changing” you would realize that very very very few DT’s meet your standards.
As for the Baker signing, I love it. We needed some size inside and Baker can not only anchor his gap on running plays, but having a solid 1 tech to draw double teams obviously help the rest of the line and any other blitzing defender.

  47. Change is here Says:

You can’t explain logic to people like tmax who thinks he is smarter than all the NFL people around the league. Lmao.

  48. JAB83 Says:

@Tmaxx and the visually impaired 87…

    Eat a Gmac for lunch

  49. Seminole2274 Says:

Gerald has been top DT in sacks the last 2 season, how can you ignore that

  50. mike10 Says:

They should make a soft serve ice cream named after 93
