Not Warm To Kenny Britt

February 16th, 2017

No.

Joe hears talk from some Bucs fans — Stick Carriers! — that Tampa Bay should look to Los Angeles and Kenny Britt in its quest to get #WeaponsForWinston.

Joe hopes Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht looks the other way.

What is the allure of Britt? It always seems as if Britt was a team’s best receiver on a garbage offense. Not sure that is something to be proud of.

Britt’s claim to fame was when he pulled a hands-up stunt before a Rams game in St. Louis. It’s understandable why Britt has a beef with the cops since he’s well-versed in the art of posting bond.

Of the many run-ins with the law Britt has had — here are a few — Joe’s favorite was when Britt tried to run a security checkpoint at an Army base. Swift!

Britt, who will be 29 this fall, had a career-year with the rotten Rams in 2016 (68 catches, 1,002 yards, which also coincided with a contract year. Hhhmmm?

If the Bucs are looking for a No. 4 receiver, well, Joe would be OK with Britt. It just seems like there are way more questions than answers with this Britt. Joe would prefer rolling the dice with good guy Louis Murphy, frankly.

Honestly, I don’t get it. Is it just bias with bringing up the criminal records? It is an important thing to be brought up for everybody. It should be brought up with Britt and obviously Mixon, but why is it never brought up by media with guys like Dalvin Cook or Dede Westbrook? Why do guys like Gil Arcia laugh at the idea that Cook’s rap sheet wont hurt him?

Is it all because Cook and Westbrook weren’t actually convicted of their crimes and they were just accused?

I just feel like I’m missing something and I don’t know what it is.

Yeah Murph–the dude that that got locked in an art gallery. LOL!

    Hopefully we can get DJax

  3. Kevin Says:

Wasnt aware of his run ins with the law…..in that case my second choice in this years class is kenny stills. I dont see djax coming here.

  4. YeahISaidIt Says:

You would want Murphy over Britt? SMH good thing you’re just a media guy JOE.

  5. Bird Says:

The Rams qb play has been atrocious at best. Hard for someone to put up numbers when Joe Dirt is throwing to you. the run ins not a good look. But gotta be tough when the game plan of your team might score 10-15 points on a given Sunday cause you are so bad. Gotta be depressing to certain extent

    Joe

Seek medical attention immediately Joe… I believe murphy’s pair of boys are stuck in your throat… WOW you are sure getting a little delusional first your love of the undisputed leader of the losing culture and now bringing a career bum who has NEVER once had a decent season into a WR conversation. I said it last year and I’ll say it again if Louis Murphy makes the bucs roster they are in a WORLD of HURT at that position.

  7. BucTrooper Says:

Hands up don’t shoot never happened.

    309 4,881 15.8 46.9 80 30 — Kenny Britt

Since 2009 fragile bum has played 88 games and britt 104 even with his legal issues he’s on the field more and TWICE as productive…

Stop with the Murphy Gargabe he is horrible has been and will always be a waste of time.

Can someone please tell me the last time a “Feel Good Story”, “Local Kid” or a freaking “Choirboy” WON a single football game!!!! It’s hilarious. Football is Sports Entertainment one step away from WWE. It’s NFL Football not Church league softball. Give me a team of throat stomping winners and you guys can have the losers like mccoy and mcclown.

CONTINUE TO BUILD A WALL! Then bring in all that will come to compete for a job….choose the best 53 and let this ALL WORLD STAFF GET TO WORK! Everyone must be willing to compete to be on the field on GAME DAY! BUT WE MUST CONTINUE TO BUILD A WALL!….but not in Mexico dumb/ass!

  12. USFBUC Says:

Harry – I don’t see Pryor moving, he wants to be there and the Browns want him there. Stills seems like one of the better option should at WR in FA.

  13. USFBUC Says:

Tmaxcon in the case of Britt he is a league leader in number of arrests only second to Pacman Jones who will be a first ballot Criminal Hall of Famer

  14. tmaxcon Says:

who gives a rats arse if he can play football…. The guy you bought your redbull this morning most likely has a criminal history does he deserve to loose his job too because you do not believe in second or third or fourth chances. The politically correct character police are the biggest hypocrites on the planet…

It’s NFL football which is sports entertainment it’s not church league softball. who cares if they can play and produce that is all that matters… All the team captain, charachter BS did nothing but put the bucs in the basement for the last DECADE… Give us talented football players the choirboys FAILED….

  15. Bucsfan951 Says:

Tmaxipad let me get this straight… Bring in Britt and give him a “second, third, fourth” chance but “screw Doug Martin because he let his team down?” Talk about being a hypocrite, dude. Maybe I’m reading your comment wrong because your punctuation and grammar freaking sucks and it’s hard to decipher wtf you’re trying to say.

Hands up dont shoot happens all the time throughtout this nation’s history. Its too bad some are too blind to see it or just claim not to see it.

  18. 813bucboi Says:

@joey…simple…because the assault involving cook and westbrook were not caught on video….had they been on video committing an assault, they would be blacked balled….people seem to forget that fsu suspended a freshman qb because he was caught on video striking a woman….a week later cook was accused of striking a woman by multiple witnesses but surprise surprise it was swept under the rug and he was reinstated rather quickly….mostly because their were no video evidence….

as for britt, I would mind….he’s better than hump, martino, and huff….he and Kenny stills would be good….licht has to get someone that better than our current wr core….GO BUCS!!!

  19. tmaxcon Says:

    Bucsfan951

Britt is much better than Doug Martin ever was. Druggernaut sucked over 3/4 of the time his slow lazy arse was on the field. He had a few good games and a bunch of garbage yards in his career he is NO winner. Britt has never cost his team a shot at playoffs not a valid comparison.

951 glad that I am in your head fool… bad grammar and all you can not get enough of my always right insight…. now go tell mommy it’s nap time.

  20. feelthepewterpower Says:

Licht would have proper intel on Britt with his sources in Arizona. Britt’s player profiler is equivalent to Larry Fitzgerald; we all know how great Firz has been in AZ. He played in run first offenses we some of the worst quarterbacks in the league year in, year out. He wouldnt command as much money and is legit rednzone threat and has homerun ability. I am not sure about the offfield incident(s), how long ago it was, and/or why he did them but I do know he is very talented (top twenty in production in the receiver position) and a serious upgrade.

  21. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    @Joey

Is it all because Cook and Westbrook weren’t actually convicted of their crimes and they were just accused?

#3 was just accused and it almost cost him and us!!!

To be honest I’m unfamiliar with Dalvin’s past or Westbrooks but if they weren’t actually convicted of anything then absolutely that makes a difference. It’s still America and you’re supposed to be innocent until proven guilty.

But I hear you about the uneven application of moral outrage. Video changes everything. Mixon was caught on tape…Ray Rice…those guys are toast because video and youtube exposes it all…same thing happened to Legarrette Blount…he became an internet sensation for sucker punching that Boise State player…made Blount look like a total punk. Given that he’s stayed clean the rest of his career…other than sometimes smoking his namesake…perhaps that first impression was overdone.

  22. tmaxcon Says:

Kenny Britt is hardly america’s most wanted. a dumb arse back in the day but hardly a threat to women and children… he’s been out of trouble for a long stretch and most of his run ins are BS traffic crap dumb yes but hardly americas most wanted.

  23. LakeLandBuc Says:

Kenny Britt has been arrested 7 times, since he’s been in the NFL. But in his defense, he haven’t been arrested since 2012.

  24. unbelievable Says:

Agree w/ you Joe on Britt. I just don’t think he brings much and he certainly doesn’t have the speed that we desperately need at WR.

    ———————-

    a) he plays out west for one of the worst teams in sports so he gets little coverage
    b) the guy had a 1000 freaking yards playing for the worst qb(s) in the league. Devonte Adams had 92 percent of his snaps, 121 targets with arguably the best QB in the game and didn’t sniff 1000 yards receiving. Britt has long receiving touchdowns every year. He has one of the quickest short bursts (shuttle speed) according to playerprofiler.com. IMO, Britt might not have Ayers leadership, but he might turn out to be one of the most productive free agents in this year’s class, which would be an absolute value.

  26. Trubucfan22 Says:

I don’t know how the NFL views his run ins with the law. But most of those charges seemed pretty irrelevant, resulting in disturbing the peace and a fine. I’m not too worried about it if we were to sign him. If anything because of his past we might be able to get a better deal for him. IMO risk is worth the reward, we NEED #weaponsforwinston.

He has played the role of a #1 when his talent level is only that of mid tier #2. I think having an elite WR opposite of him will do well for him. He is a big body which is great for Winston and his accuracy at times. He doesn’t having blazing speed but neither does mike Evans. They can get open, period. Obviously we would still need another WR to work in the mix, I always say that a good offense needs at least 4 reliable WRs. Evans, Britt, rookie, hump, shepherd would make for a decent WR group IMO.

  27. Trubucfan22 Says:

Wasn’t it Britt that burned us real bad 2 years ago on that Thursday night battle of the condiments game? I still recall yelling at my TV that we let this scrub burn us so badly.

The guys has a decent amount of talent. He is definitely worth a shot at in free agency. He automatically becomes our second best WR. So an obviously improvement over the nobody we have currently in that position.

  28. Bucsfan951 Says:

Haha tmaxipad… No baby girl, you’re not in my head. Don’t give yourself that much credit

  29. Kevin Says:

Britt may just need some motivation. Jameis might be able to help. On the flip side yhere is a lot more trobke to get into in tampa than a loy of other cities! He would be very good though
