First In, Last Out

July 3rd, 2015

Jameis WinstonJoe remembers Ronde Barber talking about Josh Freeman in 2012 or 2013, acknowledging that the leaky, sleepy former franchise quarterback worked very long hours at One Buc Palace but Barber was unsure whether he was working smart.

Yes, Freeman was that guy. Back in the good ol’ days of Buccaneers football, 2010, Freeman and Barrett Ruud had a friendly competition for who would arrive at One Buc Palace first — before sunrise.

Enter Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback, he’s been impressing with his work ethic, pushing himself to be ready on opening day against the Titans.

Last night on SiriusXM NFL Radio, co-hosted by Zig Fracassi and former Bucs rockstar general manager Mark Dominik, Tampa Bay tight end Tim Wright said Jameis is the first-in, last-out guy on the this year’s Bucs.

Supremely dedicated quarterbacks are the norm around the NFL. Joe doesn’t want to go overboard here. But it’s nice to hear from a teammate that Jameis is pushing it hard.

Young Jameis reports for training camp with his fellow rookies in just 24 days.

I remember the days of hearing about Freeman working long hours and organizing off-season workouts for the young team during the lockout. I still firmly believe something didn’t click between Freeman and Schiano. I’m not sure exactly what went down or if it was just a coincidence but there was definitely a change in Freeman and how he was portrayed in the media after Schiano’s arrival. In Freeman’s defense one thing that I do know is Schiano had well documented issues with several of his past QB’s and other players while he was at Rutgers.

Jameis is first in, last out in preparing for that first win up against the titanic Mariota led Titans, a long wait coming for Lovie and his team to win a home game and season opener for the Bucs fans. Go Bucs!!

waterboy, freeman is yesterdays dirty laundry, as well as schiano. lets keep it real this is jameis we are talking about, no comparison in my book, with his stellar accomplishments at the collegiate level, and his determination, lets forget about the Adderall popping ,team bus missing, sleeping in the classroom, bad attitude, bi polar train wreck of a spoilt biotch worst Monday night performance as a QB for the vikes freaking nightmare. and get behind famous jameis!!!!!!!!

  4. JMN Says:

Crab legs you said it all man! Freeman was one hit wonder IMO and never had the IQ to be a premier starter in the NFL. Best case scenario for him is to work as a back up or the next several years and cash those checks.

  5. Ray Rice Says:

The only reason Freeman was the last guy at the facility was because he took a shower and got ready to go out to the club from One Buc Place. No need to drive home when he has a state of the art facility to get ready at.
