“Medical Clearance” Imminent For Doug Martin

March 29th, 2014

Donning the Bucs’ new gear for a uniform unveiling party last night at the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway, Bucs running back Doug Martin was happy to report his shoulder surgery ordeal is almost over.

The artist formerly known as Backwards Hat, beat writer Rick Brown of the Lakeland Ledger, was on hand and got great news from Martin.

Martin said he should get medical clearance next week and should be ready to go fully by the time mini-camp comes April 22.

“It’s been too long since I’ve been in the game,” Martin said. “I can’t wait to get back on the field.”

The Bucs report back to One Buc Palace on April 7. The minicamp on April 22 is believed to be the bonus minicamp granted to teams with first-year head coaches.

Joe’s sure hoping Martin is ready for the pounding of the season come August. It still stuns and saddens Joe that Martin was drilled and sent to injured reserve while deep on a wheel route. It was a play that wasn’t successful on most occasions. Martin never looked comfortable in it. And it exposed him to needless punishment out of his comfort zone.

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of competition develops, if at all, between Mike James and Martin. The new regime is very high on James.

I think they should resign Leonard if they could get him at a good price. He’s a different kind of back than they already have. Excellent receiver & short yardage back.

I’m not sure on the best place to leave this message, so I’ll start with here…
Joe: Love the information and continual updates on this site, however, I am having major problems navigating on any computer/tablet I am using. This page locks up/freezes/times out EVERY time. I am suspecting all the different advertisements/videos and such. I am frustrated and want this site to be my main resource for everything BUCS. Any similar stories, or is this just my less than 2 year old computers/tablets?

  3. tha truth is... Says:

if he had good hands then he would be much more comfortable. It’ll be better for him and Tedford’s offense goin forward. Im expecting great things for Dougie

same thing is happening to me lately it sucks

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Quit blaming the play for the injury….injuries can happen on every play.(including some celebrations) Sure, it wasn’t completed and Martin doesn’t do that well on those type plays…but it reall doesn’t have anything to do with the injury.

    Nole 99.

Try using the site while using Microsoft 8. VERY frustrating.

  7. Lutz Bucz Fan Says:

I, too, get really frustrated with continual redirects, etc. The problem is bad.

Good to hear Martin is on the fast track back. We really need his elusiveness and sure hands.

    @Nole99, @ander, @Scotty,

Yes, its very frustrating. If you turn off javascript while surfing this site, it will be much better. The Ads run a BUNCH of javascript. If you use Firefox, check out an extension named “NoScript”. It allows you to tailor your browsing experience per site.

I wish the Joe(s) would do something about it but they continually say its OK. I just wish they could see what many of the rest of us see. I build web applications for a living and can assure you, this site would not come close to meeting our performance metrics.

My work machine is an Intel i7 with 16GB RAM and is tuned for performance in order to run Database and Web servers locally and it still bogs down when rendering Joe’s site. Scrolling is VERY choppy at best. It routinely hangs the latest Firefox and Chrome browsers.

Scotty, I highly recommend upgrading. IE8 is NOT secure and is very outdated.

  9. Macabee Says:

Wecome back, Doug “The BC” Martin. Lovie says there will be RB rotation, but Doug is still the “Bell Cow”!

  10. Suki Says:

    Yes, Martin is coming back.

Great news on “muscle hamster”. I hope our stable of backs can live up to the expectations. Just seen the stillers signed blount
Damn i hate to see that. He will be awsome in black and gold and REALLY hate to see that. I know he would still be kicking azz at rayjay.

  13. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Smh, still can’t believe there was a debate whether or not to put him on I.R

  14. Bucballya Says:

@Nole99,etc- I have the most problems when I am using my android cell phone.
The site keeps trying to get me to do a virus scan, telling me that I have viruses on my phone. The redirects on the android is much worse than on my PC.

Martin was not as effective last year and the running game finally came together for James and Rainey. How much of this was blocking I don’t know but Lovie and Tedford have and I suspect this is why they are optimistic.

Each has a different style and strengths. I’m thinking Tedford is intelligent enough to exploit these.

Bottom like is both are three down backs… good ones too.

Download Ubuntu it’s free and better than windows.

  17. MadMax Says:

I use 2 computers, vista and win 7…google chrome browser, 2 key software downloads are a must for me…”do not track me” and “adblock plus”…avg free AV and “malwarebytes antimalware”…..

for phones, I cant assist there.

  18. SeanyMac in SC Says:

Glad to see DM22 coming back. He should have never been used on a wheel route. What the hell was Sully thinking?

  19. Bucfan#37 Says:

I don’t think Martin lost anything prior to going down injured last year. If his injury is healed, I think we have our excellent running game back on track.

  20. Espo Says:

    What a depressing photo….

  21. BoJim Says:

Great on Martin. I also hope that James healed 100%. That would make for a great running game.

  22. adam from ny Says:

they are playing it close to the vest…and told martin to keep his mouth shut…he’s pretty much done at this point, that’s why they are so high on james…they’re keeping it quiet from the fan base…within a week or so of mimi camp he will be shelved with a politically correct subtle made up injury…just watch and see…our running back this year is mike james…don’t be fooled…the team just doesn’t wanna burst bubbles while blowing bubbles and getting the fans excited again…it’s really quite simple.
