OK, this will be something a little different from Joe. Here is a post Joe will leave near the top of the page for Bucs fans to comment on any NFL item they want. Joe will periodically post Bucs-related rumors or information here as well, whether it is updates on the Darrelle Revis situation or other potential transactions. Of course, Joe will do his usual work, too.
Joe will start it off with this nugget: [read more]

New Bucs well-paid, pass-rushing defensive tackle Clinton McDonald has got quite a story to tell when he meets the Tampa Bay media tomorrow.
McDonald was cut and out of work after training camp last season before winning a Super Bowl ring with Seattle. [read more]

ESPN and the Chicago Tribune are reporting that free agent superstar cornerback Charles “Peanut” Tillman, a longtime stud and Pro Bowler for Lovie Smith in Chicago, will bring his injured body to Tampa for a visit ASAP.
Tillman is 4 1/2 years older than Darrelle Revis, the all-world, healthy cornerback the Bucs don’t want anymore. And Tillman is recovering from a troubling knee and a torn triceps muscle.
As Joe wrote earlier, Tillman is damaged. Joe can’t hazard a guess at Tillman’s value to the Bucs without knowing what kind of cash he’s seeking.

The Bucs have a center coming to Tampa
As of 6 p.m., offensive linemen are getting gobbled up across the NFL and the Bucs still have Carl Nicks, Donald Penn, Jeremy Zuttah and Demar Dotson on the roster. Davin Joseph remains unemployed.
Here who’s off the market: [read more]

His believed payday of $24 million guaranteed eclipses what Michael Bennett got from Seattle

Depth, experience, durability and production were added to the Bucs’ tight end corps today with the signing of former Giants and Raiders tight end Brandon Myers. He caught 126 balls over the past two seasons, including 47 catches for 522 yards with New York last year. [read more]

The Bucs weren’t just satisfied signing defensive end Michael Johnson. Today’s upgrade to the defensive line continued when the Bucs tapped the world champion Seahawks, not to land defensive end Michael Bennett, who the Bucs let walk away for no good reason, but instead for a defensive tackle.
Adam Schefter of the four-letter claims the Bucs just signed Clinton McDonald.
@AdamSchefter: Former Seahawks DT Clinton McDonald reached agreement on a 4-yr, $12M deal with Buccaneers, per ESPN sources.
Now Joe doesn’t know if this is in any way a response to Akeem Spence’s driving ways in Alabama or if this is an upgrade or a look at depth. But McDonald is making starter-level money.
McDonald, 27, had 5.5 sacks last season and is a fifth-year player and former seventh-round pick of the Bengals in 2009, 16 selections after the Bucs took Sammie Stroughter.
This should be an interesting next few hours.

Joe wrote many days ago the Bucs would pounce immediately on Josh McCown, the journeyman quarterback turned super hero in this down year for free agent QBs.
Per the Twittering of Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Mc Cown is heading to Tampa to meet with the Bucs now that the free agency bell has rung.
Joe’s only question is whether McCown is on that fancy Team Glazer (rented?) private jet used for big-money free agents the past couple of years. Does McCown get that kind of royal savior treatment?
Like La Canfora, Joe expects McCown will sign within minutes of his arrival.

Joe is not alone
Normally, Joe would be geeked today because, though history suggests it is Fool’s Gold, free agency is sort of like Christmas in March for NFL fans.
But Joe just cannot shake the depression of the explosive news last night that the Bucs are seriously considering cutting — cutting! — all-world corner Darrelle Revis. [read more]

Revis is way too smart for this

Last night when news started with embers that the Bucs were shopping Darrelle Revis , then moved to the bonfire that was the Bucs were planning to toss Revis in a ditch come 4 p.m. Wednesday, Joe went from being sick to his stomach to wanting to jump out the window.
Joe simply cannot comprehend, not long after watching that eyerake of pass defense in 2012, one of the worst in NFL history, that the Bucs would throw aside at worst the second-best corner in the NFL.

Six-sack man?
A year after racking up double-digit sacks, Bengals defensive end Michael Johnson had but 3.5 last year. For context, Adrian Clayborn, who is suddenly taking heat for being just “solid,” had 5.5 sacks last year.
It always sends up a red flag to Joe when a playoff team lets a starter walk away, which is what the Bengals are doing here. Bucs fans should be concerned but not alarmed, yet, so writes NFL insider Dan Pompei. [read more]

There have been a lot of whispers that Bears backup quarterback Josh McCown, who blew up in a handful of games subbing for oft-injured bratty Jay Cutler in Chicago, may just be headed to Tampa Bay to join the quarterback circus that is expected this summer.
Today, McCown appeared on “The Opening Drive,” co-hosted by Ross Tucker and Bob Papa, heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio. And while McCown didn’t say he thought he was coming to Tampa Bay, he didn’t quash the notion either, saying he “tentatively” believes he will land with one of two teams, though nothing is “concrete.” [read more]

Here’s some DUI law need-to-know from criminal defense lawyer Brett Metcalf. Visit MetcalfLawFirm.com now and schedule a free consultation.

If I refuse to blow, won’t I lose my license longer?
When you blow over a .08, DMV will suspend your license for 6 months. When you refuse to blow, your DMV suspension will be for a full year. But if you are a first time offender the laws just changed in your favor.
Whether you blow or refuse, if you take the appropriate steps within 10 days of your arrest, you can receive a hardship license immediately. That means, from Day 1, you can drive to work, school, church, grocery store or any other reason to maintain your livelihood. So, yes, the suspension will be longer, but you can still drive throughout the duration of that suspension.
Keep in mind, the overriding goal of your case is to avoid a DUI conviction. In my experience, refusing the breath test gives you better odds of beating the DUI – either through negotiating a plea to a reduced charge or winning at trial. Juries will view a breath test over the legal limit as compelling evidence of your guilt. A refusal gives us a better shot with the jury and, consequently, more leverage in negotiations.
*The advice above is limited to first time offenders; If you have previously refused to provide a breath/blood/urine sample, you have a legal obligation to submit to chemical testing; A subsequent refusal will result in a longer suspension without the possibility of a hardship.
