Bucs tackle Kevin Pamphile

Previously, Joe has referred to the Bucs’ 2014 fifth-round draft picks, offensive linemen Kevin Pamphile and Kadeem Edwards, as “milk cartons.”

That’s not kind, and it may be a little unfair. But hey, fans were looking for Pamphile and Edwards — and still are — to show signs of life. [read more]

Lovie Smith talked to Joe

The Bucs seem desperate for a nasty defensive end, after coming up empty in pursuit of Trent Cole and Greg Hardy in free agency.

This year’s draft class allegedly is rich with DEs. So, of course, Joe asked Lovie Smith about it at the NFL Owners Meetings in Phoenix last week. [read more]

Jameis Winston = Philip Rivers?

March 29th, 2015

philip rivers

For reasons Joe doesn’t quite understand, All-Pro Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers is suddenly making noise because he doesn’t want to uproot his family in the expected San Diego franchise relocation to Lipstick City.

Well, if Rivers is traded, wouldn’t he have to uproot his family anyway? Perhaps to lesser places to live? Los Angeles may not be Shangri-La, but it sure beats living in, say, Chicago. So Joe is dubious of the Bucs ever getting Rivers. [read more]

Wide Receivers Corps Not So Deep

Led by Vincent Jackson, along with Mike Evans, the Bucs have a damned good pair of starting receivers. After that, there’s a drop off.

One could make a helluva argument that the Bucs have one of the best one-two punches at wide receiver in the NFC. Not the best, that belongs to the Packers with Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb, and Detroit is better with Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. [read more]

Keeping Vincent Jackson Is Telling

Vincent Jackson is your answer to the Jameis Winston puzzle.

Vincent Jackson is your answer to the Jameis Winston puzzle, claims a prominent national scribe.

With all the love Bucs coach Lovie Smith showed prospective savior rookie quarterback Jameis Winston, might the Bucs actually trade down?

Joe would just about jump off a roof if that happened, and Joe also has a decent idea it would cause unrest in the streets and nausea in the season ticket sales office at One Buc Palace. [read more]

No, there is no chance in hell former Bucs quarterback, leaky, sleepy Josh Freeman ever steps foot inside One Buc Palace again, unless he is hired to fix a clogged toilet. In recent weeks, Joe has been shocked by the number of inquiries about a return of Freeman.

LB Bruce Carter may be a much better signing than Ghost Johnson.

Off the air but still in the cage Tuesday with good friend Steve Duemig, “The Big Dog” of WDAE-AM 620, Joe mentioned putting himself in Jason Licht’s shoes.

A few weeks ago, the Bucs general manager had to inform Team Glazer that roughly $29 million spent on the Terrible Troika, turnover-prone quarterback Josh McCown, Ghost Johnson and Anthony Collins, was flushed down the toilet in less than a year. [read more]
