Nick Wright: Bears Should Be On Upset Alert
November 7th, 2026
Believes in Bucs.
Nick Wright smells an upset. And the scent is wafting up from Soldier Field.
The Bears last week on a Monday night flew to the West Coast and beat up the defending Super Bowl champs in Seattle.
All week long #NFLMedia has been slurping the Bears and Bears fans have been booking flights to and hotels for Los Angeles in early February for the Super Bowl. But a funny thing arriving from Florida is going to sneak up on the Bears. And that is KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles and his whirling variety of blitzes, says Wright.
Wright, speaking on his show “First Things First,” seen weekdays on FS1, tried to tell co-host and unashamed and unapologetic Bears homer Danny Parkins that his Bears will turn to cubs on Sunday night.
Fully chugging the Bears Kool-Aid, Parkins thinks Wright is out of his mind to outright call for a Bucs upset over the Monsters of the Midway. Wright was unmoved.
“This feels to me like a vintage NFL-humbles-you spot,” Wright said. “Bears flying a little high. The Bucs defense wildly underrated. The Bears on a short week. Everyone having the same conversations we had this week: Are the Bears the best team in the NFL? Is Caleb [Williams] going to be the MVP? Is he the best quarterback? Second-best quarterback?”
Wright then pointed out the Bucs are both the league’s top rushing team and the league’s top rushing defense. This century, only three teams finished the season best in both run offense and run defense (2001 Steelers, 2007 Vikings, 2024 Crows), Wright noted.
(Each made the playoffs.)
“I had the Bears at the top of tiers,” Wright said. “I don’t think they’re going to go 15-2. I don’t think they are going to just run through the rest of their schedule.
“And I think this is the type of spot where teams lose all the time. Fresh off a huge win, when everyone is is planning parades and booking flights for the Super Bowl, the NFL reminds you that you [are mortal].
“Do I think the Bucs can slow down the Bears? Absolutely. Will the Bucs slow down Caleb and the Bears? I will say, yes.”
Joe would feel considerably better about the Bucs if they could throw the ball.
Nothing through eight games has shown Joe they can get the ball downfield via the air when they need to. It really is a pee wee, pollo de mierda passing attack.
It’s not the type one can bank to beat perhaps the best team in the league on its home turf — in a crib the Bucs have struggled so badly in over the decades.

Yep! Ive been feeling the same thing. Even told a coworker of mine whose a bears fan, be careful. He came to me and said “you’re next on our list”. I said “and you’re next on ours”.
I just want to see a good hard fought game from our guys! Regardless of the outcome.

Why throw the ball when you don’t need to? The same formula we have been using will work on the Bears, Simmons or not. All our guard pulling moves runs over away from the one gap. Our counters will be extraordinarily difficult to stop especially when the RB’s are so good running behind them and picking where the holes develop. Let’s see what happens but I don’t think the Bears front 7 is much better than Atlanta’s or Carolina’s. Maybe slightly, not as good as Pitt’s.

A game made for Gainwell

When you employ a midget QB that has a weak arm the chances of a SB appearance are basically zero.
I know Todd Bowles has changed the NFL into a running league now, but I’m guessing at some point a team will buck the trend and throw the ball beyond the line of scrimmage.
How do you waste $165 million dollars on a scrub QB? Licht said hold my beer.
But he can block downfield!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
November 7th, 2026 at 10:24 am
For both Bucky and Gainwell. Please, only throw when it enhances our chances of scoring a TD. If we’re still getting 6+ yards a carry behind counter left use it until they figure out how to stop it. Wirfs and Mauch together are overpowering our opponents.

If the same formula from the last two weeks plays out on the field, the Bucs can take these guys. But my fear is that after two good games, Bowles will be his usual self and change what was working.

À weak arm? Baker has one of the biggest arms in football. Ridiculous post.

Professer Von Doofus,
MarineBuc and the rest of the Dullards,
Brady 3 full seasons at Tampa fumbles lost =8
Mayfield 3 full seasons at Tampa fumbles lost =8
Brady 3 full seasons at Tampa INT’s =33
Mayfield 3 full seasons Tamp. INT’s = 37
Keep lying about Mayfield the way you lie about being a Marine.

Not only over confidence but nfl defenses are designed to stop the pass. Nfl defensive linemen are often one trick pass rushers who are befuddled on the run.

A week arm? Baker threw a beauty down field in the pouring rain, with a healing thumb. Hit hurst in the hands for a drop. I don’t take a person seriously when they can’t even spell professor.

hee hee hee –
uh … no.
November 7th, 2026 at 10:42 am
Professor Von Loser are you willing to call Murray and Bryce who are both 3 inches shorter midgets? Baker attracted a lot of out of market fans but also out of market Baker Hater activists based on non football issues. At least the Baker fanz buy his Jerseys.

so Gipper you are saying that Brady = Mayfield ?
As Bugs Bunny would say, “ What a maroon ! “

StPeteMatt … ‘Let’s see what happens but I don’t think the Bears front 7 is much better than Atlanta’s or Carolina’s.’
Since the Bears have 6 wins (as many as Atlanta & Carolina together), some might disagree with you. The Bears are for real, and have played excellent football in 6 of their 8 games. The Bucs are also for real, and have played excellent ball in 3 of our 8 games. Just a matter of which team shows up.
My biggest concern with the Bucs right now is with our propensity to cough up the ball periodically. Our QBs have fumbled the ball 10 times & lost it 5 times. They’ve also thrown 7 INTs for a total of 12 giveaways in 8 games.
But the good news is that we’ve only turned it over ONE time in our 3 wins. But that unfortunately leaves 11 turnovers in our 5 losses. So IF our offense just hangs onto the ball, and our defense can force Chicago to turn it over, we’ll stand a better-than-break-even chance of winning.

When the dolphins beat a much better bears team in 1985, they did it by doing the unexpected. And before you get started, I know we don’t have a Marino here. But the concept remains. Do I think we’re going to win this game? I’m always hopeful but usually doubtful as well. I didn’t think we’d would against the cowboys. I didn’t think we’d beat Atlanta. Very happy to be wrong about this one as well.

“Confident, cocky, careless, dead.”
Here’s hoping!

I missed the nutty professor’s post first time around. Weak armed? You might want to check yourself. Every actual football pundit knows that Baker does not have a weak arm. And he’s no more a midget than Drew Brees was. What an idiotic thing to say.
November 7th, 2026 at 10:53 am
I agree w Joe here–we HAVE to produce a middling passing game. I can’t see an NFL team winning at Woody Hayes football for an entire season
November 7th, 2026 at 10:53 am
Hence, run the football. It’s the Bears OFFENSE that is so excellent and dangerous. But they cannot pump up the score if their buns are planted firmly on the bench for several 10-15 minute long drives!
Their front 7 isn’t *much* better than Atlanta’s or Carolina’s. Their offense is. Usually keeps them in every game but dramatically limiting their possessions keeps the score lower and if we are very efficient (especially scoring TD’s) they will be in trouble.
November 7th, 2026 at 11:02 am
Pound the rock! Sprinkle in the pass to keep them off balance and score touchdowns in the red zone not field goals. That may be a tall order for this offense but it can be done if the offensive line controls the line of scrimmage.

can-we-get-rid-of-Licht……,
I am saying what I said. Think the data is clear that even you could understand it.
Here is another point. If you play QB in the NFL, INT’s and fumbles will happen.
You might understand things better if you ever played sports. Must have been tough not ever getting picked on a pick up team? People like you give yourself away with your bitterness and hate. Go down to the church social they will let you play Bingo there.

“Their front 7 isn’t *much* better than Atlanta’s or Carolina’s.”
You haven’t watched the Bears play huh? Sweat, Booker, Jarrett, Odeyingbo Simmons, TJ Edwards & Devin Bush are pretty good football players.
The weakest part of that unit is the boundary corners, problem is our offense isn’t an offense that’s shown it can exploit those or any type of matchups in the passing game.
But as of right now, Chicagos’ front is markedly better, better coached, and have more talent on the front than ATL or Carolina.
