40 Percent Vikings Fans

Was that a home game the Bucs lost today? It sure didn’t sound like it.
Joe’s got a bunch of photos from today’s 23-16 Vikings victory at The Licht House. They confirm what fans were seeing during the game: waves of purple all across the stadium.
JoeBucsFan.com talked to five people not in the press box about what percentage of the crowd was Vikings fans. The most common answer was 40 percent. The rest were at 50 percent. FOX game analyst Jonathan Vilma estimated 40 percent Vikings fans during todays’ broadcast.
Whatever the exact number was, it was a rough look for the second Tampa Bay home game of the season for a team with an allegedly popular quarterback and a lot of talented players.
Expect 50 percent or more Packers fans for next Sunday’s home game in Tampa. It’s already a near sellout (today was not).

As a lifelong Bucs fan… outside of the 1998-2003 window, this is pretty typical.
Heck, at the old Tampa Stadium, it would be more like 50/50 or even where the Bucs fans were outnumber.
Franchise QB Baker Mayfield going 2-10 in the last 12 – mostly based on his own dumb boneheaded plays – and knowing that we’re tied to this bum for years to come thinks to the meddling owners, it sort of gives a feeling of no hope.
Maybe Daniels, if he starts, shows something and breathes some life back into the team – and if Daniels does play and look OK, it might even get Baker to snap out of his very extended slump.
In any case, winning cures all ills, and if the team wins, the fans will come back.

Someday you’ll finally figure out the entire Tampa Bay area is transplants. They are moving there more and more everyday. So why would they give up their teams and suddenly become Bucs fans? This was going on 15 years ago when I moved to Tallahassee and before that.

One of the many consequences of keeping Bowles as head coach. My only NFL team is the Bucs but I have no interest in going to a game as long as Bowles is still in charge.

If the team was really REALLY good and easy to root for every transplant would jump onboard… Its how the franchise has been mostly irrelevant throughout its history unfortunately.

That is the Glazer family secret formula. They making money regardless. Fans are angry, and we got sold unicorns and rainbows this off-season, but really got a still dysfunctional team that has been spiraling since last season. The crap division has masked the problem of a below average coach.

The Glazers LOVE it!!!! They can put a putrid team with a worthless coach on the field and still turn a profit.
Winning is not the goal. They are carnival barkers at best.

The Glazers probably should have known season tickets sales would plummet with Bowles returning but maybe they factored that in. They knew 2 NFC Nort and AFC North teams were comming to RJS which means seats filled for half the home games. This team is in freefall. After the Bucs are 0-5 or 1-4 after the Dallas game and the mini-bye, you might see changes as Koetter did when he fired Smitty, but do not count on it. Asfar as Bucs fans going to games? Who in their right mind would pay to see the hot garbage the Bucs have been putting on the field since last year’s bye? Hey Glazers, have you call McDermott or Tomlin’s agents yet?

I’ve pointed this out previously… but if I was an evil billionaire team owner, what better way to kill the interest of the fans than to give some bum quarterback a huge extension that cripples your team. This would make your fans lose all hope as they’d see nothing in their future but losing. It would kill any new stadium talks as fans would be disinterested in the team, and it would give you an easy way to move the team to London.
Not saying the Glazers are doing that, I’m just saying if I was the Glazers, and I wanted to move the team to a huge untapped major market, making Baker the face of the franchise would be a great way to kill off all fan interest in the franchise – and his deal would be expiring right when the team would be fleeing the country, the way that Evans fled to the other side of the country to get away from Baker.

BPBucsfan, it was the moneyline that was key. Now you will have to pony up more coin on the Pack to win back $100, before you could have put down $100 and won about $120.
