Bucs Complete (?) Draft Weekend By Picking An LSU Tight End

April 25th, 2026

LSU TE Bauer Sharp.

Well, the Bucs, as Joe guessed, picked a tight end this weekend.

Instead of it being with their first pick of the draft, it was with their last (?).

The Bucs traded their sixth-round pick and their seventh-round pick today to move up 10 spots with John Spytek’s Raiders to grab LSU tight end Bauer Sharp.

Sharp didn’t catch a whole lot of passes last year at LSU (24) but in 2024 playing for Oklahoma, Sharp caught 42 passes for 324 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Sharp, per Dane Brugler of The Athletic in his draft tome “The Beast” typed that Sharp was a no-star player coming out of high school who played two years for Southeastern Louisiana.

Brugler seems underwhelmed with Sharp.

Sharp is more average than above average in most categories, but his special teams experience and alignment versatility give him a shot to earn an NFL roster spot.

Ah, special teams! That’s the name of the game in the final two rounds of the third day of the draft.

Outside of getting violent, the Bucs’ priority this offseason was to beef up the special teams, which frankly has been very unspecial in recent years, sans kicker Chase McLaughlin.

    Did trigg get drafted?

  3. MadMax Says:

He also played QB, so, theres the bu option….just saying.

But Im glad we got a G and a TE in this draft. Looks like it was a solid draft, especially with Bain falling to us.

  4. LFGBucs Says:

Was likely available as a free agent. But it sounds like he can catch and has decent speed so that’s a good thing.

  5. BucsFan28 Says:

Can he block? That’s what we need

  6. MadMax Says:

Trigg is going to the udfa pile, it looks like…thats where bad attitude can lead you folks…he couldve been a 3rd or 4th

  7. Co-Z Coolman Says:

24th ranked TE according to ESPN. Not sure why we had to trade up. I guess he used to be a QB. Could he be an overdrafted gadget player? A Tasyom Hill?

  8. Sal Volatile Says:

At 6’5″ maybe he can block kicks.

  9. Leopold Stotch Says:

    Meh

  10. LakelandSteve Says:

Another head scratcher. I don’t have a problem with taking this guy but we traded up to get him, losing our 7’th round pick. There were some pundits saying this guy would be available as a UDFA. Kind of surprised

  11. TampaBayBucFan Says:

Scratching my head with this one…..trade up? Why?

  12. MadMax Says:

If Trigg makes it to udfa, i think we’ll sign him….might get cut though if he dont adjust his attitude and personality.

  13. ATLBuc Says:

Was that Sirvocea Dennis guarding him?

  14. FrontFour Says:

    Trigg still on the board.

  15. Lakeland Says:

Jason Licht probably traded up to jump someone

Licht wanted him, because he came in for a Top 30 visit

Should have used this pick for sawyer Robertson, if baker goes down Then what…

  17. Hunter Says:

Love former QBs, especially as TEs. You can always count on them understanding what the QB is looking for and finding the holes in a defense. He should be better in the NFL than he ever was in college.

  18. LynchMob50 Says:

Licht sucks at drafting TE and nobody players from low talent schools.

This one and the WR in round 3 are hard to rationalize.

As well as taking Trotter over Hill and CJ Allen.

I have no idea what they are trying to do here.

But it looks like they don’t either.

Same script with different actors. #NoPlayoffs

Well other than the 1st round pick this whole draft is a bunch.of development guys or maybe special teams back ups . Licht & his HC Bowels pretty much drafted like they coach weak, I think we could have.picked more talent at every pick except maybe the 1st. What a waste. Hope the rest of the South were as inept as the Bucs

  20. Mobucs Says:

I suppose they traded the seventh pick so that they could leave early and get started on drinks and dinner.

  21. 3.28.Evans Says:

    Yes!

Another player drafted to ply a completely different position than what he did in college. Special Teams! Maybe he can hold for the punter.
