Bucs Trade Up To Draft Longshot Tight End Bauer Sharp In Round 6
April 25th, 2026
A former quarterback is in the house.
Did the Bucs find a Taysom Hill type in Round 6 today? Not quite. Tampa Bay drafted Louisiana State University tight end Bauer Sharp.
Sharp caught 24 balls last season for 252 yards with 2 touchdowns at LSU. In 2024, he played for Oklahoma and started all 12 games. He kicked off his college career as a quarterback at Southeast Louisiana, where he stayed three seasons.
The Bucs packaged their seventh-round pick and their sixth-round pick to trade up 10 spots with the Raiders to draft Sharp.
At 6-5, 245 pounds, Sharp is more receiver than punishing blocker, but he can block. Joe wonders what he’s going to look like on special teams.
If he can’t play special teams, then he might not make the roster. Devin Culp, you better be ready to compete.

He had a Top 30 visit with the Bucs
I guess Jason Licht like him
He traded up to draft him
He’s a reliable blocker, can catch the ball, play special teams
It looks like the end for Devin Culp

Sharp > SADiQ
Welcome to TAMPA Bauer.

I like TEs that used to be QBs they seem to have good understanding of how to get open hopefully Zac can unleash Culp
April 25th, 2026 at 4:31 pm
He runs a 4.63 40 at 249lbs, has a 9.16 RAS score – so he’s got some athletic ability.
I didn’t know he played QB before – so maybe they consider some packages for him if he shows anything during practices. Not the guy I would have picked here, and certainly would not have traded up for him, but at this point in the draft pretty much everything is a lottery ticket, so we’ll see how it goes. But special teams guy is likely his role early on.

Bring on the undrafted players lol đ
April 25th, 2026 at 4:35 pm
Okay, let’s just be real. The Bucs have no idea what they’re doing – this draft is laughable. We could have had Bain in 1st, CJ Allen or Anthony Hill in 2nd, and Jermod McCoy in 3rd (could have traded down and got him at end of 3rd given he went 1st in the 4th). For tight end they could have gotten Michael Trigg, yet they draft a total project for a TE. What in the heck are they thinking! Another lost year – Glazers, clean house please!!!
April 25th, 2026 at 4:35 pm
Interesting.
April 25th, 2026 at 4:36 pm
I am not a fan of this draft at all. I think it has Bowles fingerprints all over it. We just keep drafting the same positions over and over again every year. I feel like every defensive pick was a waste because Todd is trash as a coach. So I hope they can play for the next game.

@Lakeland if you think this guy replaces Culp….
Culp is going to be the Pitts in this offense in 12formations. He’s gonna be a breakout player this year

Based on what exactly?

You can juggle the players names and order but Jason hit on the positions of need for most part. Have to wait and see if the players play and coaches coach. I’m expecting some UDFA activity soon.
April 25th, 2026 at 4:40 pm
I would have preferred that Licht had dealt the two 6’s and the 7th to jump up in the 2nd and then taken Rodriguez.
April 25th, 2026 at 4:41 pm
Man, Licht with his bull spit again!!! This is a terrible pick. There are already 4 TE on the roster already better than this guy. Either you draft for depth or to replace. Would have like to see a RB taken or project QB.
April 25th, 2026 at 4:42 pm
Shouldâve drafted nuismeyer, the udfas will be more exciting than half these draft picks.
April 25th, 2026 at 4:42 pm
So the fans who live out of state don’t like the draft picks.
April 25th, 2026 at 4:44 pm
HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A 1ST-ROUNDER!!!!
Joking. Never heard of him.
April 25th, 2026 at 4:44 pm
We normally get 4-5 UDFA that sticks
April 25th, 2026 at 4:45 pm
I see a bunch of whiners.
It’s been a good draft. Solid.
Bucs know more about any of these players than anyone here.
April 25th, 2026 at 4:46 pm
And now the fun begins as we search for our future Hall of Famer in the UDFA pool. I do love to sit back and laugh at all the “I can’t believe he wasn’t drafted, he’ll be in the Hall for sure!” comments.
April 25th, 2026 at 4:46 pm
Fine with pickâŚjust scratching head on why surrender a draft pick to move up? Several quality guys still on board with real potential to not just make team – but make team better.

He’s a 6th rounder. Everyone on 5he roster is going to be better than a 6th rounder.

Culp is gonna play much preseason along with this guy and Ted Hurst, sprinkle in some tez Johnson to make it a show
April 25th, 2026 at 4:49 pm
@NC Lifelong BUCS Fan
âEasy to play GM after the fact. Draft boards arenât the same across teams, trades arenât guaranteed, and half the guys you named could bust anyway. Letâs see how it plays out before calling it a lost year.â
Real BUC Fans bleed this team, not just complain.
LFG!!
April 25th, 2026 at 4:58 pm
Jimmy Johnson advice âtreat every pick like it is your last/only choiceâ in order to squeeze the most out of draft consistently year over year.
Examples i see right now:
Garrett Nussmeier would make fine 3rd QB with meaningful long term upside as back-up or even trade capital.
Harold Perkins: hybrid LB who can play Special Teams.
DBâs: TJ Hall, Thaddeus Dixon, VJ Payne
DT: Skyler Gill-Howard, Jordan Ven den Berg, Landon Robinson
Lots of big boy OL
Waste not, want not.

I used to be one of the “out of state” fans, but now I’m local and I still have to say that I’m a bit underwhelmed with the draft. I don’t really see a standout, but I do see some “potential” and some guys pushing their mid 20’s that have less career time to develop that potential. And I’m not really negative. We desperately needed edge rush and hopefully get it with Bain. We desperately needed ILB replacement and hopefully got it with Trotter. For those saying he can’t cover, I can only say very few can cover AND run stuff consistently. I’m thinking Derrick Brooks, and he’s HOF. Even Lavonte wasn’t the greatest in coverage. Again, kind of a meh draft, nothing stands out as superstar right off the bat. I hope they develop and prove it to be solid.
April 25th, 2026 at 5:06 pm
Bud Licht needed a few cold ones and Bowles needed a couple Pizzas badly, so they decided to give away that 7th along with our 6th for a Player that would have need a UDFA
April 25th, 2026 at 5:10 pm
I may live out of state not too far up I-75 in Atlanta, but born & raised in the City of Tampa. Chamberlain HS. What does it matter where any of us live?
Random unnecessary shot at other fans, bruh.
April 25th, 2026 at 5:11 pm
@Buccaneer Bonzai Then why trade up to draft a player that isnt better then any one in the position group!!! You made my point! Could added way better talent. This guy would of probably went undrafted.
April 25th, 2026 at 5:12 pm
If baltimore stays away from Trigg, dayum!
April 25th, 2026 at 5:16 pm
Culp has good hands. Made some nice grabs under Coen. I was surprised he wasn’t featured more last year. I also recall Durhams circus catch against the Falcons two years ago..
April 25th, 2026 at 5:21 pm
The number of menopausal guys on this website who doom and gloom over a bottom of the roster 6th round pick is hysterical.
April 25th, 2026 at 5:22 pm
this guy is the next gronk

You might not have read all the practice notes last year, but the reason why Culp wasn’t on the field more is because he *didn’t* have good hands. He has less than 100 yards over 34 games, so his body of work implies the Bucs are in no hurry to put him on the field. He was a 7th round pick for a reason, unfortunately.
April 25th, 2026 at 5:29 pm
Iâll be the first to admit I know absolutely nothing about this kid because I scoffed at reading up on TEs, but heâs here to have at shot at somebodysâ job. Maybe Culp, Maybe Durham, could even been Ko. We arenât going into the season with 5 TEs on the roster, that Ă do know. Could keep all 5, keep the young kid on the PS.
What I do like for all 3 of our offensives draftees is that theyâre here in an instill year(like all of our rookies since â23 draft), so they be learning at the same together with the vets. Should make it easier to intergrate them into the offense if need by, especially Tampa Ted.
April 25th, 2026 at 5:34 pm
He blocks, runs faster than Otton, can take handoffs, throw the ball and play special teams. I can understand why they wanted to add him. Hopefully he develops into a weapon and can make the team.
April 25th, 2026 at 5:42 pm
If he hooked up with Taylor Swift heâd be the second coming on ESPN.
April 25th, 2026 at 5:50 pm
Culp has 8 career targets, 7 receptions and a tuddy. There’s worse. Anyhow, apparently either HE’s going or DURHAM’S going
April 25th, 2026 at 6:03 pm
I have to say I like this draft a lot. Bain, he should have been a top 10 pick. They say he’s a great run defender too. Not bad from an injury history standpoint either. And he’s only 21. Trotter will be a fine pick if he can learn to cover. Hurst, I guess he will be ok. He ain’t no Mike Evans, but who else is? We do have a specific niche for him. Scott and. Capehart? Superb value. Seem like real dawgs. Superb athletes. Both should have been day two picks. The guard…seems a little fragile to me. I haven’t looked into the TE yet. Can he displace Kieft or Durham? Or Culp? I guess we shall see. If Walker can do what they claim he can do we might be a reasonably good defense. I still have the bad taste of that Brasswell hard sell. Gotta go look at who this TE is.
