Alex Anzalone A Welcome Addition

March 10th, 2026

Bringing the juice!

It’s borderline irresponsible to gauge what a team’s offseason plans are to build up an otherwise sad, soft defense after only the first day of free agency.

But Joe’s willing to bet later this morning the Bucs will be trying to talk fans off the ledge from canceling their season tickets. Joe will have more later but Joe has no idea what the Bucs are exactly planning for the defensive side of the ball.

Let’s see what happens today on Day 2.

The one defensive move the Bucs made yesterday was signing Detroit linebacker Alex Anzalone. Joe loves this, even if Anzalone will turn 32 in September.

(Man, if Lavonte David, 36, returns, between him and Anzalone, the Bucs are going to have to stock cases of BOOST on the sidelines.)

Anzalone’s energy and juice is exactly what this timid and soft Bucs defense needs. Badly. Any inside linebacker for Dan Campbell, you know he has to be a glass-eating, physical man. Campbell wouldn’t have anything less starting for him at linebacker.

The former Gator’s presence is what was sorely lacking. He will punish people. Folks won’t want to try to run inside on the Bucs without a price to pay, though Joe realizes Anazalone is more known for his pass coverage.

So Joe loves this addition. The rest of what happened to the Bucs ‘ defense yesterday? Well, that’s a head-scratcher..

    Yes!
Don’t know about anything other than his past excellence and PASSION for the game.
A great example for the rookies this season

  2. Leopold Stotch Says:

Maybe if we didn’t have Timid Todd running everything we wouldn’t be so soft. Speaking of, Todd, he should be fired.

  3. JT Says:

Joe was wrong about Evans and wrong about this. Detroit has problems on defense. If he could still play at level he played he first 2 seasons there he would never have been allowed to hit FA. But he’s not that player anymore. Not close. Which is why they let him walk. No major impact on this horrible defense.

  4. Vanessa Anne Says:

    I’m cautiously optimistic about this.

Like LaVonte, Alex’ age is a bit of a concern, but he definitely brings some attitude that’s clearly missing in our locker room.

This will really help to close the glaring holes in the middle of the field, especially if LaVonte decides to play again.

30 years I have religiously been a fan of this putrid team. 3rd and 28 is what lost Mike Evans. I don’t blame ME at all. He wasn’t chasing money. He wanted the best coaching. ME wants a chance to get back to the SB. What the F is wrong with that?! The 49ers had worse injuries than the Bucs, but they went 12-5 last year. Coaching, putrid azz coaching.

And lets not leave Licht out of the equation. The Bucs desperately need a OLB, so we sign an old ILB. Typical Bucs. Yea, I know we needed an ILB too, but I don’t give an F right now. Our big signings are an old ILB and freaking Otton?! Wow, that is an endorsement for winning (sarcasm).

The Bucs want to win the NFCS, that’s all. just like the sad Steelers, win the sorry azz NFCS and lose the first game in the playoffs, hooooorraaaay. F this

I am sick of the F@*ing team. Maybe I will feel differently tomorrow, but I doubt it

  6. Teacherman Says:

Just watch the 49ers playoff game.

Their defense was full of backups but they played fast and physical!

    Their defense played on fire!

    Our defense?

    Soft and slow!

    Of course Mike left!

  7. Bucnjim Says:

Great teams don’t let great players walk, so the Anzalone addition makes me nervous. Wasn’t their D plagued with injury last season?

  8. Bowles Wasn’t Held Accountable Says:

This guy was decent in other systems, but I can already see him trying to cover a back like James Cook in Bowles wonky defense. He’s 15 yards behind the guy, with his hair flowing in the breeze caused by somebody blowing past him.

  9. Megoat13 Says:

Senor harry I can understand your pain. I would say let them know next year by not watching or going to games. Easiest way to let any ownership group know how unhappy a fan is is by not consuming the product

  10. BigZ Says:

Mike leaving is an indictment on
    JL
    Bowles
    Baker
And. Four oc changes in four years.
Hed rather play forvShanny, Lynch and Purdy. Who wouldnt? Seems likecan easy decision to me.

  11. Anyhony Says:

Mabey Evans left cause he’s tired of this sorry a$$ Fan base.

    Maybe πŸ‘†πŸ‘†πŸ‘†πŸ‘†πŸ‘†
