Emeka Egbuka On Pace For 85 Catches, 1,513 Yards & 17 Touchdowns

October 5th, 2025

Might the Bucs be winless without rookie receiver phenom Emeka Egbuka?

Maybe, but nobody cares because he belongs to Tampa Bay and is tearing up the NFL.

Egbuka had another eye-popping afternoon with 7 catches for 163 yards and 1 touchdown. He caught all 7 balls thrown his way, including a 57-yard bomb from Baker Mayfield.

That means Egbuka now on pace for 85 catches for 1,513 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Bucs rookie receivers have had some special seasons. Michael Clayton in 2004 (80 catches, 1,193 yards) comes to mind, along with 11 touchdowns from Mike Williams in 2010 for a 10-6 team, and Mike Evans squeaked out 1,000 yards on the sad 2014 Bucs. But what Egbuka is doing is unprecedented.

And he’s getting progressively better. Today, his hometown crowd and the challenging Seattle sun was no issue. Egbuka got open and tore apart the Seahawks.

Someone buy Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht a beer.

Scoring 38 points without Mike Evans and Bucky Irving says so much about this roster on the offensive side of the ball.

    Ugh…yes.

  2. D-Rome Says:

Offense rookie of the year. Just hand him the trophy now.

  3. Zoocomics Says:

Btw… 2 wins in a row in the creamsicles. Let’s put that particular curse to bed and enjoy the throwback threads.

    And a pass rusher….

But seriously, amazing pick by Licht. The Bucs are not 4-1 without our rookie sensation.

Also credit to Licht for key role players at WR like Sheppard and Tez Johnson made some fantastic plays.

  5. Gipper Says:

Ebuka is a nice player. Just ask the guy who delivers perfect passes to him.

Mekatron ! Dude is a superstar.

  8. Leighroy Says:

    Stud.

  9. Whatevs Says:

This offense would be so scary under Coen

  10. Saskbucs Says:

    What a stud!

Baker threw some money balls today as well, he was ready to go!

Unfortunately I had Godwin for 5 grabs and thought that was a lock today. Oh well. W is sweet.

  11. Whatevs Says:

Can we wear these jerseys the rest of the year? They are the best looking uniforms in pro ball!

  12. #99 the big fella Says:

Whatevs shut up and just be happy we won this game. Don’t be a troll

  13. Bucschamp Says:

EE should be Rookie the Year

  14. Cybersecurity_intern Says:

    Fire Bowles!!!

  15. Two thumbs up Says:

And to think Walter Krepinsky gave Licht his “Millen” award for one of the most lamebrained picks in the draft for his choice of EE. Shame on you, Mr Krepinsky. No we haven’t forgotten.

  16. lambchop Says:

Without Baker and Egbuka, I can’t even imagine where we would be. Baker was 29 of 33 passing! He was averaging 11+ yards a throw. Tez Johnson finally got some level of comfort in the offense. I mean pick your poison. This team is dangerous. We need that pass rush to come in baaaaad. Reddick has been average. By now I expected him to start popping off. There’s still plenty of time.

Great, gritty win today. I’ll take it however it comes, but it’s still pathetic how a defensive HC clearly has a better offense than a defense.

  17. Whatevs Says:

Big Fella, no need for that. We all are family here. You will be okay. Need a hug?

All opinions are welcome at the JOE

  18. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

They booed this kid on draft night, never forget

  19. Whatevs Says:

Can’t keep starting slow. 4 drives, three points to start the game continues the terrible stats this year. Coen 0was #1 last year. Grizz #26 this year

  20. Whatevs Says:

Thought EE was a good pick, smart pick, but I am blown away. This dude is a dude.

  21. PewterStiffArm Says:

The 35 points scored by the home team says a lot about this defense. If it weren’t for Mayfield and Emeka, God help us.

  22. Adam’s Angry Says:

(Unconfirmed) Mike Evans was spotted at a local gym, staring lovingly at a leg curl machine worried about his job security.

  23. WhatTheBuc Says:

Egbuka is already a top 5 wide receiver in the league.

  24. Oxycondomns Says:

baker in prime of his career enjoy it

  25. adam from ny Says:

he was seemingly just so advanced when arriving…

like not a rookie, while being a rookie…

his mental seems beyond, and his physical is aligning…

i don’t see him as a rookie who will significantly improve in future years…

he kind of is what he is already…and he’s a damn good football player…

he’ll fine tune things a bit over the next few years – but i almost see him as a fully formed player this early on…

and it certainly helps that baker throws him dimes…

we got a good one…because sadly, mike and chris are clearly aging nflers…

and tez looks pretty nice out there too

  26. Oxycondomns Says:

im kind of looking forward to macmillan returning

  27. Darin Says:

Defense on pace to put alot of opposing QBs in the Pro Bowl. Special teams on pace for the worst season in the history of football. 4-1 tho let’s go

  28. BillMFl Says:

Where was the defense on either team? Fun game to watch. So glad the Bucs won. Was it two of the best offenses in the league or two mediocre defenses? Either way it was fun to watch! Edbuka was the steal of the draft!!!!

  29. MadMax Says:

Buka = rookie of the year

  30. Rod Munch Says:

It’s going to be a hard pace to keep up as Evans and Godwin are going to theirs, in fact next week I think we’ll see a big week from Godwin, and of course Evans is the alpha on the team and when he’s back, should go right back to dominating, not to mention McMillian will be coming back as well.

But unlike the Eagles crybaby WR’s, the Bucs guys seem tight, care mostly about winning, not about inflating their stat line, so I’ll take three 1000 yard WRs, which might be possible as the line improves, we get back Luke, and Baker isn’t running for life and puts up more big games like today.

  31. SenileSenior Says:

The young man is phenomenal. I am sorry that some here will try to find problems with him the first time he has a “bad” game. Yes, other guys played less than perfect today. So what!

Me, I will take an ugly win over a loss. Go Bucs!

  32. David Says:

The kid is awesome. When this offense gets fully healthy… I expect 32 points per game every game.

Unfortunately, if they can’t figure out how to get a 4 man pass rush, they might need it.

  33. Bucky Says:

When Evans comes back teams would be dumb to not put some #1 coverage on Emeka.

  34. Usfbucs Says:

Only problem we have at WR is how do we distribute the ball enough once JMac and Evans are back. I would love to see Evans break the record and get his 1k yards but man EE is catching everything. Shepherd has also bailed us out in a big way and then today Tez was making an impact.

  35. SenileSenior Says:

For me this was not an ugly game. It was a special game to me. It was a thing of beauty!

    Go Bucs!

  36. David Says:

    5 games. 5 TDs. 25+ catches.

    First player in NFL history

  37. Erik with Pilot and Driver™ Says:

We might be forced to call him Mekatron for real if he keeps dominating like this.

He doesn’t have to be 6-5 to be called Mekatron. If he dominates, he earns the nickname.

  38. unbelievable Says:

    OROY if he stays healthy.

  39. Nano107 Says:

    Some people just have gifts
    He’s one of those
He gonna be really good for a long time

  40. Buddha Says:

    No more BS about Licht!
No more BS about the offensive coordinator. The NFC is going to be a dog fight. If we can go to 5-1, then get back Mike Evans, Godeke and Dean LOOK OUT.

  42. orlbucfan Says:

Megatron would love to watch this dude perform. Big fan of the Detroit receiving badszz. Now EE2 is playing with CG14. Godwin has been loafing lately. He’ll be talking to the coaches and team captains before Sunday’s game.

  43. Bucsfan Says:

Take that mans’ shoes to Canton as EE is the only player to have 25 Receptions and 5TD’s in NFL HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  44. Kenton Smith Says:

Egbuka is the best rookie receiver I’ve seen. I’ve been around a long time. Baker today was the first QB in the long and illustrious career of this league to throw for over 375 yards and have less than 5 incompletions. So that kind of helps Egbuka also.

  45. 813bucboi Says:

    This kid is money lol

    GO BUCS

  46. Mhystc Says:

    Mekatron fits him perfect.

  47. Obvious One Says:

MacMillan’s No Joke either! I’m drooling at the idea of having our top 4 receivers and Bucky and Otton on the field at the same time. (If that’s even possible) that’s 11 with linemen.. Should be doable.

Talk about not being able to sleep if you’re the DC going up against THAT!?

    OoooooF!

Makes my dreams water in warm fuzzy bubbles….

I mean, how do you stop that? A great D line? Nah! Not good enough!
