Benjamin Morrison Expected To Miss Entire Preseason

August 9th, 2025

Sad but encouraging news tonight at The Licht House.

Minutes before the rainy kickoff of the Bucs-Titans preseason game, Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht jumped on the Buccaneers Radio Network and was asked about the hamstring injury of rookie cornerback Benjamin Morrison. The second-round pick is not playing tonight and missed most of this week’s practices.

Licht wasn’t upbeat about a quick Morrison return and characterized the return as, “hopefully back for the regular season.”

Joe later learned the Bucs will be extra cautious with Morrison and don’t expect him to play in this preseason. The hamstring strain is not considered major and Week 1 is more than just a maybe.

Dude played In Indiana, much different weather than florida

Could be a reason, same as Kancey

  2. Hearty Dikerson Says:

“Hoping” he’ll be back in a month? Certainly doesn’t sound like a minor strain.

  3. Addb Says:

Dude made of glass, bubble wrap him until the season and hope for the best. Luckily Jacob parish is a beast

    Great news

    Dean 2.0

Morrison is going to be a great player for us. I don’t mind them being cautious. He’s had a really good camp. I’d rather make sure he comes back healthy than forcing him to rush coming back and risk losing him during the season

  7. Whatevs Says:

Another wasted pick on an injured player

Well hope it’s minor, but he did have surgery on his hips?

Looks lije injuries will cause this class to end hit and miss. Let’s hope tge best guys play really well and maybe we can find depth elsewhere

Surprise, surprise…injured college players make for injured pro players.
This team has a history of injured defensive backs. So what do they do? Draft more injured defensive backs. Licht outsmarted himself in this draft.

  12. Frank Pillow Says:

Can this team please bring in a lower body specialist or a consultant ?!?! So many hamstrings and now a groin to boot.

  13. Esteban85 Says:

We need to peak after the bye and into the playoffs. Early injuries are better than late.

  14. MelvinJunior Says:

Of course he is. I’m surprised that the Rays didn’t draft him. I’m afraid that is who he is going to be… Just like the typical Rays Player.

  15. Fred McNeil Says:

Like I said while this woman was holding out: I am absolutely loathe to guarantee the contract of a china doll.

  16. Kenton Smith Says:

I think Morrison needs some time to heal up. He was coming off that hip surgery and was eager to get on the field with a hitch in his get-along. A hitch in your get-along is not a good prognosis. It’s more of a problem than just a hamstring I’m afraid. We’ve got some depth so let him fully heal up before we lose faith in him. Seems like a great kid.

  17. The Biggest Bucs Fan Says:

Every year the same injuries we need a new training staff ASAP

  18. Stpetematt Says:

With my powers of positive thinking this situation will be just fine- just like Godwin and Wirfs. All ready week 1 or close to it.

  19. BuccaDAWG Says:

Correctamundo SPMatt , I’m not sure about all of them back week 1 but the Bucs got enough talent & depth to stay reverent till we get healthy. Just hope we don’t get more serious injuries. ..

  20. BucU Says:

Dude is making me reconsider my optimism with him. After all the injury talk around him BEFORE this latest injury now we hear he’ll be out until ?????
His stock is plummeting as far as I’m concerned.

  21. WillC. Says:

Some of you guys are brutal. You guys are already trying to condemn the man for a hamstring! You should know that the faster guys are vulnerable to hammy’s at the beginning of the season! Look how many times Mike Evans has dealt with them! I get more angry with the trainers. In this day and time, one would think they would be much more preventable! 🤷

  22. Bobby Says:

Not surprised by this. Its really disappointing when Bucs draft players and they miss time before Regular season even begins. Really slows down a players development too. This guy already has an injury history from college. I don’t care if the players is the greatest like Tom Brady or equivalent. The best ability is availability. Lets hope this isn’t a sign of things to come with Morrison.
