“Maybe The Buccaneers Are Better Than We Think?”

November 8th, 2026

Baker Mayfield.

So just how good are the Bucs? We’ll find out tonight.

It’s one thing for the Bucs to mop up on Dallas, Carolina and Atlanta. That’s great.

But tonight, the Bucs are facing a different animal. They’re going to battle perhaps the best team in the league with probably the best quarterback in the league not named “Josh Allen” or “Matt Stafford.”

And the Bucs will try to pull off this feat playing in a decrepit stadium a block from Lake Michigan that has been a house of horrors for the Bucs this century.

Good luck.

Frank Schwab of Yahoo! wonders aloud if it’s possible the Bucs are being overlooked and the Bears are getting too much run?

The Buccaneers will be completely overshadowed in this game. The Bears will be the focus on Sunday night as they’ve emerged as one of the NFL’s most dangerous teams. That’s a reason they’re a healthy 6.5-point favorite. That’s a lot of points, and the Buccaneers might be secretly pretty good.

Well, being 3-5 and starting the season 0-4 is a big reason why the Bucs are “overshadowed.” When you start like that, normally a team’s focus turns to the draft and which players they want to retain and which players they want to wave goodbye to.

Thank goodness for the NFC South landfill, where seemingly no team is eliminated from postseason play until the regular season ends.

“Maybe The Buccaneers Are Better Than We Think?”

I reckon we will know at about 2330 hours tonight.

  2. ToesOnTheLine!!! Says:

Parcels said it best…you are what your record says you are. They’ve had a tougher than expected schedule so far, but the fact still remains that their 3 wins have been against other teams currently with losing records too. Win tonight and the arrow starts pointing up.

  3. Bojim Says:

We thought that before the season started.

  4. Gipper Says:

Baker will outplay Caleb, Bucs will win, and the haters on these pages will be sullen. They do not want Baker to succeed to prove some foolish point about their skill in assessing QB talent. They didn’t do so well with Jalen Daniels and they will get embarrassed again tonight when Baker ights it up.

  5. jimmy Says:

the expectations are pretty low for this one, and rightfully so.

the most interesting thing going in to this game is the thumb. the bucs need the thumb to stop blocking down field and start completing some passes. its bad enough the bucs no longer have the threat of mike evans, they barely even have the threat of a passing game. “ted” is looking less like an “X” receiver and more like mark walhbergs thunder buddy.

its all upside for the bucs. many have/had already written them off for this year and rightly so. if they win tonight well its all gravy. if they lose well, its just the bucs. “we” knew this was going to happen they’ll say. kay of course will hop off the bandwagon (yet again) and slink back into her parents basement.

i hope they win but its going to depend on the thumb. “cant coach the thumb” todd will say. ronde will nod in agreement like ronde does.

  6. JustVisiting Says:

jimmy: Bucs need the thumb to show up, and all fumble fingers to stay home.

  7. Oneilbuc Says:

Gipper. Stop crying Baker haven’t played a good game since the 49ers game last year it’s not hate it’s call facts. Don’t no real bucs fan wants Baker to fail this is why the real bucs fans can’t stand you Baker fans because you guys say stuff like that. I wish you guys would go back Cleveland or Oklahoma where yall come from. We seen the Brady fan boys say the same thing and now all of them are gone. And when Baker time is up you and the rest of the fan boys will be gone as well.

  8. ProffeserVonBrainStorm Says:

Sounds like Gipper has hit the devils lettuce a little hard. He’s out of his skull.

Mr Mid QB has been averaging 32 yards a game since returning as QB1.

That only works against the putrid excuses for football teams that reside in the NFCS.

And how exactly were we wrong about Daniels? He beat a Cowboys team that lost to Gardner Minshew after being up by 14 in the 4th quarter. That sucks!!!

We’re 3-5 but listening to you it sounds like we’re 8-0 and dominating the entire league.

Mindless over the top positivity does not make you a better fan. But hey, we all need a court jester to laugh at. Carry on. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  9. Bucscoott Says:

    Yeah, NO

  10. Gipper Says:

    Oneilbuc,

As usual, I need someone to translate what you are saying. Don’t think I have ever seen so many words that say so little. Here is how this works. If you get the right to critique Baker, and you do get that right, then I get the right to critique your editorial style. Still not too late to take a remedial class in English.

  11. Pops Malone Says:

Tonight’s game will show why Todd Bowles and the rest of this coaching staff need to go, yet another embarrassing performance in front of the whole country on national tv, I am going to the game and hope I am wrong but have seen this movie too many times..

  12. purplebeard Says:

The trolls are the funniest part of this site.

  13. Steve V Says:

    Prophylactic Von Brain!!
2015 Broncos -Manning threw 17 picks to 9 td’s, yes he was injured that year..
    2000 Ravens went 5 + games without a TD
    Both had the #1 defense
    Both won the SB

  14. Kidfloflo Says:

What is Zak Robinson doing coaching the Falcons game today!? The resemblance is uncanny

  15. purplebeard Says:

    Steve V
I don’t think you should use big words that the von brain drain won’t understand; basically, anything over two syllables! 😂

  16. Oscar Says:

Oneilbuc, you are no more a true Bucs fan than anyone here. You would rather the Bucs lose than to see the Bucs win with Baker leading the way. You’re a Bucs fan in waiting for the time that the team is constructed per your preferences which doesn’t include Baker as the quarterback. If you were honest you would admit that. What’s worse, wanting a team to win because one’s favorite player is part of that team or wanting that team to lose because one despises a certain player for whatever reason?

  17. Lightningvinny1 Says:

Our D will shine tonight ,,, it took Falcons all of 5 min to score a TD on Bengals , a feat they failed to do last game

  18. MadMax Says:

As long as we keep doing what we’ve been doing on D, plus smashmouth run down their throats, then we have a chance.

  19. Will Powers Says:

I agree with Joes post from Nick Wrights
    Bearz on a short week
Nobody’s seen our passing game (sadly, including Buc’s fans)
This “could” be a trap game, though the spread disagrees
Per the norm, the difference will likely be turn overs

  20. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Losing 4 games is not that big a burden to overcome, regardless of when it happens.

The way I see it, if they can win a total of 10 games (only 7 more to go), we make the playoffs. And by then the team should be playing very good.

It is NOT time to think draft.

Lose 2-3 more games, and it will be.

  21. Steve V Says:

Its not a ” trap game ” when a team is facing a top ranked rushing and defense, Im sure the Bears realize that..that formula wins games/ Championships

  22. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Also…Baker fan here. I was not at first. In fact, I was very much not so at first.

But since then I’ve seen him earn my respect.

I admit since last year he has struggled. There was good reason for it last year. This year? Not so much.

But that doesn’t mean he cannot get it back rolling.
